You can actually see it like some star on the blue sky without a telescope. Weather needs to be perfectly clear though and I think the closer you are to the equator the better. Was that taken with a telescope or something? Venus always looks like a very bright "star" on the night sky, but actually seeing the planet like that??
Oh nice, maybe I still have some of those solar eclipse glasses lying around.
You can see Venus transit across the Sun on June 6th. With something to block the light, like with any other time you would look at the Sun of course. It'll probably be the last time you can see in your lifetime.
holy shit. i gotta see that. but that pic above us confusing to me. looks all melancholia and shit. a giant planet ready to slam into us. how was that taken and what is really going on in the pic.
Thanks.
Do you have a higher resolution of these pictures?
So the "girl above hole" picture is shopped, huh?

Here, I used gimp to increase the pauses between every frameBasically an extreme version of the "zolly" effect that you sometimes see in films. Zoom out as you dolly the camera in (or the opposite). I'd like to see it in slower-mo.
Yup, first thing that .gif made me think of was this shot from the Goodfellas.
I distinctly remember how fucking hot that boat was to walk on.

Here are many many more. These are all great. They remind me of an old point and click game....something Kyrandia maybe?

Thats not how momentum works...
Pretty sure if it were real you'd need 100% perfect conditions, weight, etc for it to actually snap onto the other track in the perfect position.
No way that would be approved anyways.
Hey, I recognize that. It's in downtown Vancouver, a stairway leading from street level down to a university campus (and small skating rink). They had it painted with a mural for the Olympics, it was pretty nice. Then they removed that, and it's back to plain 'ol concrete. Speaking as someone who doesn't use a wheelchair, it feels a lot safer than it looks in that picture.
I wish I lived where some of these other pictures are from, though! Good gravy!
Link, please. =)
This isn't exactly on-topic (given that's it's a video) and REALLY deserves it's own topic but alas I can't make one yet.
