Pictures of the Japanese Armor We Bought

Not even kidding. Here it is. We bought it during the monthly sidewalk sale here in Kiryu. It was a little sun-damaged, but for thirteen man, a Meiji-era suit of armor is ridiculously cheap. And now it's ours.

Here's the story of how we found it.

Sadly, the armor is entirely too small for my frame. Christy put on the arm guard, but even then it was a tight fit. The armor was made for a small Japanese man. All I can do admire the handiwork. The armor is completely hand-sewn, and all of the metal ringlets were obviously made by hand.

Does it come with a soul attached? Or do you have to pay extra for that? I heard it costs an arm and a leg. :lol I am so funny. PEACE.

It all cost about 13 man, or 130,000 yen. That's about $1250. We have to find an antique dealer with a spare stand. Then we plan to ship it all home.

You gonna trade me 44 pairs of pre-worn jeans for Samurai armor.....mmmyeah.

Frankly, I'm of the opinion that jeans should only look like that after you've had them for a couple of years. I like my jeans dark. I like my jeans rough. I like my jeans with big orange stitches.

Ristamar- Thanks. Sadly, it's not in mint condition. Someone displayed it in a window for many years. The lacing holding everything together is faded to gray, but underneath the panels and in the back, it's still a beautiful gunmetal blue.

I need to take pics of the Kabuto/Yoroi my father-in-law sent up for my son's first Kodomo no Hi. It's awesome stuff, but you look like you've got the real deal. Was the ferret free with it? :p

That's cool. We were going to buy a Hina Mutsuri set, but I think we lucked out. If we'd bought one of those sets, then we wouldn't have been able to afford the armor. It's going to end up being an heirloom.

CrystalGemini- Sorry, pal. I'll have to see it to believe it. We've had a spate of guys passing for gals here lately, guy. Amigo. Buddy. Fella.

You're going to have to do better than that; GAF skepticsm is at an all time high, after the infamous case of serafitia... some guy/girl used some girls photoblog and posted those pictures pretending to be that person... or rather pretending that person's visage was her.

Probably the best proof you can provide is taking a black texta and writing on your stomach or arm; "Shut the fuck up Kumanoki you stupid fuck." Some of us can photoshop words onto a sign/piece of paper relatively convincingly.

But ultimately, you can't really escape true net scepticsm; that picture could be of your girlfriend/sister/female relation... so best not to bother.

But I believe you.

Kumanoki; Find a small manican somehow and buy a katana/wazikashi set. It might end up doubling the cost of the armor set, but it'll make it look 5 times cooler. And 3 times tackier.

I've been on these boards for some time (under a different name "mochi") so I knew who she was, but I never knew she was a he. Wow... Nowonder he/she doesn't post anymore. :lol

Yeah, I don't mind. To tell you the truth, I use the "everyone on the internet is a male" thought process too. :D I still find it shocking that Serephitia was a guy though...

I didn't say it was a guy. Just that person wasn't using pictures of itself to represent pictures of itself...

That said, everyone to be is whatever gender that wish to claim, because I'm not going to be jerking off to chat or seriously hitting on people that are geographically remote.
