"Now just because you can, turn this piggy into ham."

If you aren't familiar with Raymond Watts, aka Pig, then stick around. Pig can simply be labled industrial music, but Watts doesn't settle for one genre. He has melded his unique industrial style with nearly every musical genre, including mambo, jazz, orchestral, country, pop, and metal. He's been making music under the Pig moniker since 1988 starting with...

A Poke in the Eye... With a Sharp Stick.

Featuring It Tolls For Thee (Pig Breath)

"I don't care I'm a mindless fuck
Give me a tube and I'm ready to suck
The big right wing, the big right wrist
As getting sore from rubbing that thing"

And Scumsberg
"She like fighting and she likes war
Come on everybody, lets do it some more
With a slug in the mug, mace in my face
Racist thug, what a disgrace
Ghetto, rape, no escape
They put you down and bait, bait, bait
She like fighting and she likes war
Come on everybody, lets do it some more"

The next album is where Watts really started to show his ability to meld genres...

Praise the Lard (1991)

Featuring the jazz driven TOXICO!
"Toxico - that cute pariah
Toxico - he's the sweetest liar
This is trial by fire
In a kingdom of cash
Toxico - with that holy face
The rotten apple is the human race
Your illegitimate human son of greed
He'll give you pyaemia
Sapraemia
Septicaemia
Leukemiaaaaaaaaaaa!"

And the disco lust song Hog Love
"Hog love - pays a penance
Passion ends - begins repentance
Hog love - frenzy vengeance
Squirt and squeeze and squeal for assistance"

In 1992 Watts followed up Praise the Lard with an EP titled A Stroll In the Pork

Featuring a cover of Alice Cooper's Hello Hooray

and Death Rattle n Roll
"Don't do what I do
Do what I say
You could believe
You could be saved

Watts followed up in 1993 with The Swining...

The Swining / Red Raw and Sore (1993/1999)

This album might contain the best songs Watts has ever done. including Symphony for the Devil

A nearly 13 minute song that could have easily been 3 seperate songs. Instead they are mixed together to create one haunting bizarre symphonic journey.

Black Mambo
"Black mambo burns with the fever
Black mambo aches with desire
I swallow your pride
Black mambo grows like the fire!
Black mambo, big, bad and ugly
Black mambo take me and slide
Black mambo turns to me smugly
Black mambo rip me inside!"

Red Raw and Sore

The only song I know of that samples and is completely based on a track from Terminator 2's OST.

See it for yourself.... T2 Helicopter Chase

Trent Reznor ended up signing Watts to his Nothing Label, and re-released Sinsation in 1996. Previously it was only available in Japan.

Sinsation (1995)

Featuring Hamstrung on the Highway

and Painiac (Nothing Touches Me)

"Come on and be my God
Come on and by my gun
One is for killing
One is for fun
Too sad to walk away
It's too sad to say"

The music video was not given rotation on MTV due to "too much fire". This was around the time Beavis and Butthead were getting flack for playing with fire.

What comes next is often considered Pig's greatest album

Wrecked (1996)

Featuring The Only Good One is a Dead One.

This song is so bad ass, that I have to post the live version too.

Another personal favorite, No One Gets Out of Her Alive
"And though I stand for nothing
I will fall for anything
Tequila, a little lime
A friend of the devil is a friend of mine"

In 1999, Pig released what was intended as the swan song for the Pig moniker...

Genuine American Monster (1999)

Fun fact about the album's title:
Album length 66:15
1 + 2 + 3 = 6
G + AM + MON = Gammon

This album had a mixed reception, but there are still some of Pig's best work.

The industrial mambo Salambo

"Get up do the walking
This dead man is talking
Syphilis will sing
For the misery you bring
Like the drug like the rush
This hem thus you touch"

Dat guitar riff in A Fete Worse Than Death

"He thinks he's bad
Ain't go no class
Rocked his shotgun
up his motherfucking ass"

Pig tried to change his moniker to Watts, and produced an album titled Pigmartyr. There were so many production problems, the album was mixed again, renamed, and re-released in 2005.

Pigmata (2005)

Some serious gems here...

A lounge tune with lyrics that you could speculate that are autobiographical. It almost sounds like Watts is lamenting on if only he could do it over again.
On the Slaughterfront
"I need a little foreplay
I need a little more pay
I need a little flashback
I need a little cash back
I got the beauty, she’s my beast
Looks like a leper but she’s my priest
The closer we go
I’m getting tired, my death’s too slow"

This is more obvious when you examine Watt's career. He was his own worst enemy.

Vitriol Vice and Virtue has convinced me Pig is the definition of bad ass guitar riff. There's something about this one...
"I hate to break
but I can't relate
So I shoot, shovel, and shut up baby"

Kundalini is one of Pig's most creative tracks. I'm not sure how to describe this one. Perhaps someone more familiar with this style can fill me in.

"Open your eyes tonight
You could be wise tonight
You could survive tonight
I'll be your highs tonight
I'll be your lie tonight
Unto the sky tonight
I'll take your blows tonight
I'll show you lows tonight
Deceitful lies will not take you there
The secret life of your labia"

That wraps it up. Here are some random Pig pics.

Yes, Pig was a member of KMFDM

Which is why this is considered their best album.

Thanks for reading.

I never really got into Pig stuff, but I did enjoy the Sinsation album and love the KMFDM stuff. My autographed copy of Nihil is one of my fav posessions.

Love Pig's music. He was also great live.
I own every Pig album and single, even the ones that were only available in Japan. I need to listen to his stuff again soon.

One of the most underrated artists in the last 30 years. Thank you for making this thread. I hope I will dream of him tonight.

Yours,

Franck
