Ping Pals was greenlighted before it was confirmed that pictochat would be included in DS systems. If it wouldn't have been, ping pals would have been a pretty sweet app, for the right price.

When they found out pictochat WAS included they couild have just axed the thing but it was so far along they figured they could shove it on out the door and make a little money. I'm sure they did, too.

Ping Pals for $2.99 is cheaper than if you bought one DS card case from Nintendo because of the shipping cost. :lol

Once they found out that Pictochat was going to be bundled in, they should've delayed the game and figured out the DS WiFi as fast as possible. The setup is there for online chat (customizeable avatars, multiplayer games), but as just a local chat client, Pictochat makes it seem worthless.

But it's worth it for $2.99, and I'll tell you why: Shantae unlockables. Sound effects, a background, high-valued "Money Words," you don't get that with Pictochat.
