Well I mean, it's a city where it's only glue, really, is its sports and its banking. You can't really deny that the people in that city care about anything else other than football and the Pens.

Cleveland has the same syndrome but they've been in denial for the past 30 years. "Bubububu THIS IS THE YEAR"

Yes. In fact, Cleveland is worse because they bandwagon on basketball and baseball when they are good ... but continually support football which is horribly mismanaged. Then they have the nerve to call owners "cheap" when the team is having a down season and no one is showing up.

I used to rock some Pirates gear but I can't be bothered to purchase jerseys anymore considering we can't fucking keep a decent player longer than a season or two :lol
Get a throwback Mondesi or Stargell jersey. My Mike Webster jersey never let me down, in fact it helped me stare at Sean Mahan with stern indignation for an entire season.

Remember, this is coming from the same publication that named Peyton Manning the NFL Athlete of the Decade over Brady, and Kobe over Shaq in the NBA.

I like Peyton Manning, but that's a fucking joke.

Both of those are correct :-|

#1 last year in terms of winning maybe. Not fan based though. The Penguins almost went bankrupt, and nobody came to see them for YEARS, and the Pirates are an after thought to almost all fans. The only team in Pittsburgh that has had steady support has been the Steelers. You have other cities that support their teams even when they don't win, and are life long, die hard fans.

Not to mention there were talks about them being moved until Super Mario saved the day. Then they had to rely on draft picks to build there team back up. I give this top 10, 2 thumbs down. I see Detroit is at 10, besides the Lions, the teams have been pretty solid. But I agree they shouldn't be number 1 either.

I've talked about this before. I don't agree. Supporting your team at the game is expensive (I even sit in the 400's all the time)

How many seasons of ineptitude on the ownerships/front offices part is OK until it's OK, for you, to show your displeasure with your wallet?

1. The cities with the most successful teams tend to have the STUPIDEST fans.
2. Boston.
The stupidity of Bostonians extend beyond their sport teams, and for the record, they were that insufferable even when all their teams sucked monkey balls.
Easier to dismiss, smaller in number, but still smug and in-fucking-sufferable.

The fact that people still attend Pirates game, 17 seasons into the worse sporting streak of all time, is proof enough that Pittsburgh fans are behind their teams no matter what.

You can do the same for Big Ben, but no one in their right mind would say Ben is a better quarterback than Peyton. More exciting, more thrilling, fatter, sure, but Peyton has been playing in the league for the entire decade and has dominated almost every single year. He's the perfect QB.

As a suburban-Philadelphite, how the hell did Pittsburgh beat Philadelphia?! They don't even have a goddamn basketball team and the Pirates suck. Screw this jazz, I say we meet at Gettysburg and fight.

You mean faster?

You always manage to make me question your fandom.

No, fatter was intended because it's funny.

You can question my fandom if you want, I just bring da truf. You can't honestly believe you think Ben is a better QB than Peyton?

To be perfectly honest, I can't say for sure.

And... fans are supposed to be overly biased and void of reasoning when speaking about their teams!

You might want to cover up, your superiority complex is showing.

It's maybe not the best, but I think Columbus is pretty damn fine as a sports city. We got the Crew (don't laugh, they're defending champs), a pretty good AFL program in the Destroyers, Blue Jackets (not spectacular but getting better, plus good fans), and the Buckeyes of course. The Arena District downtown is really nice - especially the new Huntington Field, where the Clippers (minor league baseball) play. I think it won best new sports venue, or something.

Anyways, as a not-so-intense sports nut, but someone who appreciates them, C-Bus is great.

No.. We don't have a professional baseball team, basketball team, or football team. So no, there'd be no reason for Columbus to be on the list. We do have the top soccer team in the country and a big university that likes to choke lately on the big stage, but not much other than that (that most people care about anyway).

I could see Pittsburgh being on the list, but #1 to me just means that they're taking into account the last few years. Tops I would think would be St Louis, maybe Chicago, and Boston. LA? No..

In the regular season.

Chicago is too big to be devoted. Sure there are pockets, but the city of a whole doesn't really care all that much. .

Sorry bro, but it sounds like you have no idea what you're talking.

Now lets see we have....

Da Bulls, 6 championships and the greatest ball player to ever step on the court

Da Bears, come on Super Bowl Shuffle

The Cubs/lovable losers

The Whitesox 2005 Wold series champions

The Blackhawks quickly becoming a real force to be reckoned with in Hockey

There's an ad making the rounds on the Public trans that says "If you're not a fan your're a tourist"

Sorry but you're completely wrong. If anything the only places that could possibly top Chicago in terms of sports enthusiasm is Boston or New York.

Also, you can get to all of the stadiums mentioned taking only 1 train. How many other cities can say that.

There's being a fan and then there's being blind and stupid.

He certainly has better stats but I can't say if that's because of the talent difference or the personnel difference. This season, we're seeing what Roethlisberger is capable of when placed behind an offensive line that can protect him, his stats would most likely be tops in the league if we had some different play calling and Holmes/Sweed didn't fuck up huge in the Bengals game.

I'm in. Philly does sports right. We've gotten a lot more bearable since we moved out of the Vet.

The fact that sports DEFINES Pittsburgh makes me not want to return for a third time.

The fact that Pittsburgh DEFINES sports makes me realize how shitty sports are.

Yep. bandwagoners. I mean, the Maple Leafs have sucked for quite awhile now yet the ACC seems full. I'm not a leafs fan, jus sayin how people pay to watch them lose. D:
