My wallpaper is a rotation of my favorite screencaps of 5cm/s.

Whenever I need a hit of mono no aware, I just hit show desktop and sit back and nostalgia.

And I can't even tell the difference.

:racist
Well the ones on cgsociety show you the name and location of the artist.
Prolly.

I'd link some of my recent favorites but I'm not allowed. :D
I wouldn't mind extending the range of sites we can post pics from, cgsociety does seem to be mostly quality stuff.

Although I would still limit it to 2D because 2D is superior.

Let me think about it for a bit.

Korean Art:
Girls - Big tits, big hips, tiny waists, uguu faces
Guys - Tall, and really muscular, but not bulky

Japanese Art:
Girls - Lolis
Guys - Shotas, Bara furs, or yaoibait

that sounds about right
chinese art does seem to have the best balance

That's because chinese artists are copycats.
See I blame that hyung-tae kim shit.
Yeah I'm not really sure how he singlehandedly defined an entire country's artistic output.

Only if you want. I'm not in any fuss over it. I do wish there was just a general "here is some cool-ass art 'n' shit" thread, but I know that tends to devolve as time goes on into mostly "here is some stuff that i guess could be neat probably?"

I mostly agree!

A quick browse through CGSociety made me realize that a good deal of my favorite pieces are from Russians. I do tend to like many Chinese and American pieces. A few Thai. Just... mostly Russian.

Wait, are we talking about H now??
Hyung-tae Kim's influence on Korean animu-style art in a nutshell:

If Liefeld actually knew how to draw, this is what his art would look like.

I think I want to keep this thread Pixiv only, although if you guys really wanted to I could make a "Western Art |OT| of fuck those weeaboos and their lolis" thread as well.

what impresses me most with so many of the Pixiv artists is their ability to make digital art look like watercolour.

As a bit of an amateur watercolourist myself I am so intrigued by this new digital watercolour style coming out of asia lately. If anyone knows of a good (english :( ) tutorial on these techniques I will make a piece of art for you. PM me!

<3 this thread, subscribed!!

Pixiv is incredible, amazing pictures. Why don't we have an American equivalent of this site?
There are hundreds of amazing artists on DA but it is EXTREMELY hard to find them. The easiest way to find a bunch are to find one that's been on the site for a good time and browse his/her favorites.

The first page of this thread wins so hard. I can only stare in awe at those amazing landscapes and cities. The one I quoted though is hands down my favorite of the thread so far. It really makes me wish some of these places actually existed. I love looking at images like most of the ones on the first page and imagine that they're cities on other planets. With the sheer amount of stars and planets in the universe anything is possible.

Why can't we live in the future? ;_;

:O I suck at navigating Pixiv, can't find awesome stuff like this.
Using pixiv translation plus, and with the help of many wasted hours, I've built up a huge library of thousands of custom tags which helps me immensely when searching for content. It's more about a time dedication than anything else.

Again this is exactly what I want in games. The colors just make me feel warm and happy inside, this is the perfect artstyle for a Zelda game. I assume Nintendo and the other game companies have artists that are talented enough to know how to draw like this right?

Hey, sorry to bump this thread (no I'm not), but I'm looking to decorate my new apartment, and I wanted to get some artwork from this magnificent thread.

I hate traditional framing with a passion, so I'm looking at stretched canvas. However, a lot of these pieces are of uncommon dimensions, and I don't like cropping or stretching...does anyone know of any good online solutions for custom dimension stretched canvas? If not, what are the best standard dimension outlets?

Thanks.

Browsing around Pixiv I noticed this person's artwork:

I really found their style interesting and unsettling but I didn't realize it till then that they also did the cover art for Boris' New Album:

My mind was blown.

More of their stuff here and here.
