Play Baldur's Gate using Baldur's Gate II's engine!

what a retarded reply. why even bother?
why not post about how you tried it and it was awesome and well worth the effort, because playing baldurs gate I and II is a fantastic VG experience (if you have the time, and no consoles or wife or job and a few months to spare)

remember everything IS old and most things slip under MOST peoples radars.
also, if you bump an old thread, the mods lock it.

there is no win.

anyways.
its great, if the majority of you reading this thread havent played BG, then go and buy then and play them, they are very cheap and very good. forget the console versions.

saying that though, i woul love to see both games in the DA engine, with 6 player multi over Live and the entire BG2 campaign! best rpg ever waiting to be made.

answer this post Bioware, I have all the answers to how to make this happen.

Oh shit, I actually didn't know about this. Any flaws, or is it a perfect BG1 experience?

So if I install BG(bought it years ago along with Sword Coast expansion, never installed it) and download this mod, it makes the game look like pt 2....the link is kinda confusing...

I think you have to have Baldur's Gate 1 and 2 installed. That makes the most sense to me, anyway.

OK, so I will be a little useful. The mod basically is importing the BG1 assets into your BG2 install and letting you play BG1, so you have to have BG2 in order to use this. I don't remember if it required an actual install of BG1.

BG1 ceased being worth playing when BG2 came out.

I dunno, I like BG1 for its simplicity, and granted, I'm still only in Chapter 2 of BG2 doing a ton of sidequests, but there seems like most of BG2 is city landscapes and I really liked the wilderness exploration of BG1 (not to mention that the city areas are not very friendly to the quirky pathfinding algorithms still in play in BG2).

Does it include all of the engine enhancements that BG2 offer? It doesn't break any of the gameplay doing this? Can your characters then transfer over to BG2 without a problem?

Chapter 2 in BG2 is the most open ended one of them & the one that's most bound to that city. The game after that plays out differently...

BG2 doesn't feel like a Forgotten Realms game, it's just an ugly child of BG1 and Diablo. High level AD&D is boring and doesn't make any sense in the FR setting.
