PlayStation 5 Pro Teardown: An inside look at the most advanced PlayStation console to date

It still looks ugly and is very impractical. You can't event turn off the lights of the base PS5.

Never understood how this hideous design got greenlighted.

You can think it is ugly if you want, but there is nothing "impractical" about it.

This. I have yet to see a reason to upgrade. Especially not for $800.
As a pro owner for about 3 months now I can safely say that (for me) the upgrade is not worth it, BUT, if you have to buy a new ps5 I dont see a reason for not buying the pro either (if you have the money) , since its the best Sony has to offer.

In my case I had to buy one more ps5 since my own was promised to my son as soon as the pro launched... so I bought the Pro and honestly my experience is basically the same as with the ps5.

I initially thought my pro had loud fan noise. But their work to reduce the fan noise has from my experience has worked.

Problem is they did Jack shit for coil whine which is the problem on mine. Didn't ms put some clay or something in the series X to prevent coil whine? Not good enough from Sony for such an expensive console they are no doubt making profit from.

People are not realizing but this is probably the most advanced console ever designed. From RD, to software, to custom hardware inside the APU, cooling, motherboard layout etc. It's a masterpiece of engineering.
Since the PS5 Pro can use all 16GB (GDDR6) for games, the memory used by the PS5 OS is limited to 2GB.
PS5: GDDR6 16GB - 2GB(OS)=14GB for games
PS5 Pro: GDDR6 16GB for games & DDR5 2GB for OS
No. OS needs about 3.5GB (don't ask). Re-do all your calculations.
