still kind of want to buy forevolution but that price is too high for me to go in blind

Which one is a better grab Dracula X or SOTN?

Also, when does the $15 back promotion end? I wish I would have waited to buy P4A when October 1 hit. That way it would make getting the credit easier.

Should end by the end of tonight. Whether that is 12 EST or PST I have no idea.

Dracula X. You get a better version of SOTN included.

Was gonna ask this. After thinking about it, I guess Dracula X is a better value since you technically get 2 (or is it 3?) games. But I think some things were changed in the version of SOTN that's found within Dracula X Chronicles, if I recall.

My (second) Vita 64GB card got delivered today. Mostly digital and I have a Vita and a PSTV so it makes it easier not having to switch out stuff. Wish the price of the damned cards was lower, but it's worth not having the hassle anymore.

Picked up Freedom Wars, waiting for that to install ATM.

If you're only interested in SotN, get the PS1 classic. I only picked up Dracula X for Rondo. The new voice acting in its version of SotN is a massive turn-off.

That's it, I'm broke, VitaGAF family. That means no Shinovi Versus, no Freedom Wars, no Miku 2nd, no Persona Q, no Pokémon ORAS, nothing. If I'm lucky at all, I might buy the basic Dekamori pack for $15 if my brother gives me a $20 PSN card as a late birthday gift.

did something happen? :(

Only possibly negative thing is the redone English voicework depending on your taste. The Dracula X version includes items that were only in the original JP PS1 version as well as the Japanese audio track, redone SFX, and an additional playable character (Maria).

I may go for that one which is funny because I have the physical PSP version. Double dipping is worth it to have on my Vita, I guess.

Look at the bright side, You now have time to play all your previously bought games.

Man...I have no clue what to buy to get up to $100. I think I've only spent like $20 at the most.

If you don't have anything you want to buy, I don't see why you should force yourself to get that 100$ promo.

80$ is large barrier for the amount you get on the promo.

I grabbed freedom wars and frozen synapse prime to take advantage of the spend 100 get 15 back promo. Here's hoping they are worth it.

Finally beat FFIX. Suggestions on the next RPG for me to play? Can't decide between P3P, Breath of Fire IV, or finishing demon gaze. Kind of feeling like something more story driven so I'm not sure if demon gaze is what I want atm. Also open to other suggestions.

I'm almost done P3P and I definitely wouldn't call it story-driven. Haven't played the others though.

Trails in the Sky. If not, then Fate/Extra. If not, then Growlanser: Wayfarer of Time.

oooh. I should actually play trails in the sky... dunno if I want to pay for it atm though. I guess next month I won't have as many life expenses and this month. Maybe I'll go for it.

Really? Well then I'll save that for later. Should probably finish Persona 2 first anyhow lol

P3P is such a pain in the ass to get through. I don't know how anyone could like it more than P4G. The only thing it has going for it over P4G is FemMC but even then I'd rather play P4G over it

It's why I've never made it very far in P3P before switching to a different game.

I've played a few hours and I think the tone is more my speed. P4 feels anime in a way I sometimes find really obnoxious.

P3P is impossible to go back after P4G, glad I finished both routes years ago.

Seriously the amount of exp per battle is pitiful.

So I was thinking about Silent Hill: Book of Memories. Played the demo and I liked it at first, but by the time I got to the second stage I was just...bored, I guess? I love randomly generated dungeon crawlers, but BoM just kinda feels...off. Especially the combat. It's not much fun at all. Also half the rooms are way, way too dark. I understand the need to be atmospheric in a Silent Hill game, but a lot of the time the darkness actively impedes gameplay. Not to mention makes me have to strain the fuck outta my eyes to see what's going on. I also really don't like the forced touchscreen integration that adds virtually nothing to the game. Why can't I navigate menus with buttons? But then I'm just not a fan of pointless touchscreen integration in general.

I dunno...anyone who's played the full game, is it worth it in the end?

I think I've heard good things, but it does seem a bit hit or miss. Haven't played it personally, but that's what I remember from when it gets brought up.

**The ending of FFIX is really cute.

So apparently the western version of Freedom Wars has completely removed the voice synth engine from the game.

I am so pissed that I'm not going to buy the game now. Or at least not until it's on sale for really cheap.

It's a neat feature but beyond that it didn't serve much purpose. It'd be difficult to localize for other languages and they'd have to create a new vocaloid/synth system that can work alongside English and other European languages. It makes sense why they just couldn't do it.

Game is already cheap.
...why would they do this?
Because the vocaloid system used was designed around Japanese and not English or any of the other languages this is being translated to.

Are these programs really so inflexible? Did they not just license an already made system? would there not be a latin language bank to license? Honestly I don't understand how these things work very well, but it doesn't seem like it would be hugely expensive to "localize"

But they already left the game undubbed! I've always assumed from day one that the entire reason they didn't dub the game was so they could leave the voice synth in the game as-is with no need to change anything!

Wait... you thought this was the reason rather than just a generally cheap localization job? With respect, you kinda set yourself up for disappointment :\

I agree they should have left it in, but still.

From the OT:
I have the original japanese version, and no - most english words don't work well. They are very simple words that do similar sounds to japanese words.
Even if they left it in there's no way to enter Japanese characters and most people don't know Japanese so it'd be useless and people would complain more that it doesn't work properly/nothing they enter sounds like the word they entered.

The JP version was able to get some English words sounding pretty close using kana and certain phrases in roman letters worked but it was mostly imperfect. Add in all the European languages for the EU region and they probably felt it was better to exclude it (most people won't have ever known the feature existed in the JP version in the first place) rather than include it and have it not work 90% of the time and be counted as a broken feature against the game by players.

13hours in and I'm gonna say it worth it although my reason for playing is the combat and weapons. Story is a bit confusing and not really engaging, doesnt help that the VA is not that all great. The puzzles are either brain dead simple or just too vague to actually make sense. The blood/light karma system doesnt seem to affect gameplay aside from healing circles as notes obtained seem to be random. Despite all the flaws with it, I'm actually enjoying the game.

Summing the game up, its a shoddy love letter to SH fans who've played all the games up to Downpour. Just to also note, the combat is akin to SH1's clunkiness which I actually quite like. There's also the fact that you can burn enemies down with a flamethrower, including SH's most famous enemy character.

I've been enjoying P3P but the more I play of it the more I just want to replay P4G instead. :lol

P5 can't come soon enough.
