PlayStation Plus Thread: Plus What? PLUS EVERYTHING!

My PS+ sub lapsed the other day. I checked my download list and lots (but not all) of my downloads are gone. Like red dead for example. is this normal? I plan on renewing my sub but what the hell, i thought that stuff was safe!
The freebies are just rentals. They'll disappear once you stop paying for your subscription. You get to keep games you bought at a discount.

i knew i couldn't play them without a PS+ sub but I didn't know they removed them from my download list. I thought I could re-download once i was a PS+ member again. What about borderlands installed on my harddrive. Once i'm re-subscribed will i be able to play it again?

Yeah, it'll all come back again when you resubscribe.

Once you resub you can carry on playing and as far as I'm aware you can redownload anything too.

What? They delete the freebie games from your download history? Never knew that, I have a lot of games I haven't installed because of limited space.

About your question, yes you can play it again.

haha

It's "yours" as long as your sub is active.

thanks for the responses. Faith restored :)

still the best rental system ever

(btw HMV in dublin have 12 months PS+ sub for €36)

If I download 2 games and 1 is currently downloading while I paused the download for the second one, will both games stay under the downloads in progress list even if they are no longer free on PS Plus?

Thanks.

Yes. As soon as you've completed the transaction, they're yours for as long as you are subscribed.

Still hoping we get Ratchet and Clank: All 4 One in the EU. I know it's not supposed to be all that good but I plan to begin the R and C trilogy soon and would like to play the titles that have come out on the PS3.

With the US having gotten it, it's making me wait to buy it in hope we get it free also. :P

King of Fighters, cool! I'm too terrible at fighting games to actually buy them, now I get the chance to gawk at the animation which is all I actually want to do.

Wish the discount had been for Retro City Rampage instead.

I'd like to ask people to vote for PSP games to be included in Vita PS Plus in the new blog post.

It's a given that they're giving away Vita only games, so I'd like to receive a great PSP game every now and then as well.

I rather get PSP games too

maybe a Persona game before the launch of P4G

That's a full retail release, so I guess it'll calm the haters, right...

Nah, nothing will calm the haters. Still, it fits into my ideal freebie mold, i.e. a game I don't own and otherwise might not have played but would love to try out.

wow, based on last week's ps blog comment reply, I thought for sure we were getting Red Dead Redemption this week. I'm holding out on buying it because I assume it'll eventually come to US PS+, right? right?

I don't mind a little button mashing though this week.

KOF XIII is awesome news! I've been so tempted for a while. This just saved me $30.

I have to say I've been extremely pleased with Plus so far.

After that comment this was the last thing I would have expected. Though I did expect disappointment, so I'm not really surprised. They came through there.

King of Fighters XIII is a great game. If you guys are still complaining noone will take you seriously anymore.

You'll get another chance next week.

I've been wondering... Has Sony (or anyone) ever explained just how PS+ is profitable? Or if it's even making Sony money? How do they get publishers and devs to let them give these games away for just the price of a cheap subscription? Surely the devs of the free games would be losing money compared to when people buy their games separately? Or do Sony pay them to make up the lost profit? If so, what's Sony's profit on the whole excessive?

Any accountants in the house?

They wouldn't run a subscription service that loses them money.

Most of the games they give away probably aren't selling much anymore, so publishers won't need much of a payoff in order to give it away for free. It gets fans on board for potential sequels, increases word of mouth about the game (so possibly uptick in sales) and increases sales of any DLC. It makes them a lot more money than they were making on the game before. Free games given away also benefit from increased PSN advertising, so further possibility in a sales uptick.

Obviously Sony makes money from subscriptions. They'd also make money from any sales uptick (since they take a cut of sales for the games). Not to mention PS+ discounts probably drives a lot of people to make a purchase they wouldn't otherwise make.

I'll download and enjoy KoF. Great update for once.

I didn't even know what game that was without going to the Blog.

That says more about you than about the game.

This post is really offensive. I know being a corporate apologist is in right now, but lumping everyone who isn't satisfied with a service they paid for in a single group and calling them "haters" is a ridiculous thing to do. People have legitimate problems with the US Plus, and you can't shake those off like they're irrelevant just because you are satisfied.

Posts like these are really detrimental to the discussion and make everyone look silly.

You're probably not far off.

I'd love to see a true breakdown of the whole process and business plan to see exactly how it works.

LoL, KoF XIII for Free?!? SWEET! I don't have to double dip (not that I wouldn't eventually if needed, but this makes it SOOOOO much easier), and can see how the PS Audience deals with the game (now if only I had a converter/dual mod for my 360 stick...)

I like the odd amount of SNK-activity PSN has seen recently. Though I guess this might be more of an Atlus deal? Hopefully, this helps more local people get online, and allows the netcode to put it's best foot forward due to that.

Might actually buy Deathfin, evenin this busy week, with that discount. Now it contends with Sunflow and Aqua Kitty...

Well they gave us something good for once, I feel a little better now. I'm not a huge fighting game person but I feel this is better then the crap we have been getting lately.

First a handegg, then a fighting game...it's like PSN+ admins know exactly what games I will never play and putting them on there deliberately :(
