PlayStation Plus Thread: Plus What? PLUS EVERYTHING!

I wish there were a PS+ discount for pre-order of Bioshock Infinite. That was great with Doom 3 BFG. :(

I wish there was a discount for all Day One Digital games. That's what they did when the program first started — 10% off. It's what made me jump in.

Though I guess their strategy worked, as at first I didn't really want digital that much, but would grab it with the discount if the games' box art didn't grab me. But now that I know the convenience first-hand, I lean digital and don't care about the discount. Boooo, me.

URL is still ridiculously long. They need to fix that.

They should buy sen.com and then it would just be store.sen.com instead of store.sonyentertainmentnetwork.com a ridiculous long name and a lot of people probably do not know how to spell entertainment anyway.

Works fine on my iPhone 5

Not on mine. I tried on chrome mobile though, did you try it on safari?

EDIT: Yeah, works on safari, not on chrome mobile

I kind of think the "spend $50, get $10" program is an interesting way to get around any agreement they might have with retailers. Because it applies to everything, video game retailers in particular can't say that Sony is screwing with digital pricing.

I'd take either MK or DOA5 as the fighting game. MK because I bought all the DLC then sold the game (yeah, I should stop doing that), and DOA5 because I really just want to play it. Would probably prefer DOA though.

Wow, going from the cursor controls of the 360 version of Plants Vs. Zombies to Vita's touch controls works so much better. I don't really have any other Vita games I can just pick up and play for a few minutes at a time either, so it's nice for that.

"Critically acclaimed shooter," "very much turned the world on its head in terms of what to expect from a shooter"

"Fighting Game."

"Strategy RPG series to the Vita."

"Famous writer, luminary of the games industry, relatively recent release."

Oh dear, I'm not a fan of SRPG's at all, and I stink at fighting games... well at least I'll be able to play it with my friends. I play very few shooters so that will probably be a nice surprise, although knowing US PS+ it will probably be N.O.V.A. 2... and that last one sounds like it's going to be The Cave, which I know nothing about except it's done by Ron Gilbert so it must be good.

Get Jetpack Joyride. It's currently free on the store. It's also free on PS3 btw.

Tempted to buy another year of PS+ to get the 3 months extra and $10. Anyone know if it'll work if I get a PSN card?

I'm already sub'd until middle of next year, but I thought of doing this too. Althought a part of me wants to wait and see if there will newer services for PS4 whose purchase might be a better overall deal than current plus. I guess it'll all depend on how Sony decides to package everything together.

What was the recent release counted towards, the srpg? I was thinking maybe new little king's story since it came out in late september but that's not a series, and you'd have to stretch the definition of srpg to count that I think although you could do it.

edit: Nevermind recent release wasn't for the srpg. I hope it's not disgaea since I bought it full price not even 2 months ago.

Spec Ops would be an awesome addition, but like everyone else I think it's risky to assume that's it.

I'm a little disappointed that they're going back to monthly reveals. Weekly reveals gave every Monday a slight air of excitement, but I can see why they'd do it. A monthly reveal would concentrate any complaints into a brief period and probably even neutralize most dissenters since they're likely to have at least one "big" release a month.

Is that why they don't do the 10% discount any longer? Retailers got all pissy?

And speaking of that 50-10 program, as you're a game journo, jvm: the store said "10 dollars for every 50 dollars spent." Is there any limit on that? Or could I spend $500 and get $100?

And speaking of game journoism — you ever finish that story I helped you build about Plus? Yeah, that's right... I helped. A lot. I'm big time too now. :P

Well, what we're going to do is release the list of games that are coming in the month at the start of the month, but we won't be saying when exactly the games are coming in the month (except for the one hitting on 3/5). So we'll still use the weekly Monday posts throughout the month to reveal what game from the list is hitting, along with whatever discounts and features that week are coming too.

dat feedback. i need it weekly.

Deus Ex: HR
Disagea 3
DOA5 (would prefer MK)
Karateka (I hope it's the Cave, but think this is more likely)

Edit: Thought about it and Deus Ex fits the description better, critical acclaim and changed people's expectations from a shooter.

Just curious, by the start of the month does that mean we'll get the list on the 1st or with the first update of the month on Tuesday or whatever?

I approve of this way of handling it, by the way.

Probably the Monday before the first Tuesday, like they've been doing for the weeklies.

Yeah seems like it was made for Safari, Mercury and Chrome don't work with it so far.

Another ridiculous Sony move. They make me feel like we're still stuck in the '90s with "optimized for Netscape" logos and under construction signs.

this doesn't sound like a bad idea, but i wouldn't mind if you guys kept a game or two secret as well, aka announce 4 games at the start of the month but have a 5th or 6th game coming that you don't let people know. I liked being completely surprised.

as it stands I imagine no matter what games those turn out to be for March most people won't be happy if the 4 hinted games are the only games NA is getting, I mean EU is getting 6 games (7 if you count the two metal gear games separately)

Mass Effect 3
Dead or Alive 5
Joe Danger 2: The Movie
Metal Gear Solid HD Collection (PS Vita)
Puddle (PS Vita)
God of War

of which 3 of those were big retail releases (ME3, metal gear solid in general, and god of war)

though he might not have hinted everything as it's been a while since we only got 4 games in a month.

Probably the Monday before the first Tuesday, like they've been doing for the weeklies.

I would guess that as well, I really see no reason why they would suddenly change the plan given they are still planning on announcing what is coming that first update with it.

Just renewed my US PS+ membership for another 15 months, with my remaining wallet amount + Sony free 10$ and a PSN card.
I'm subscribed until Dec 5th 2014 :)

About the hinted games:
- Shooter: I have no idea at all. Could it really be Spec Ops ? It was well received, but not that big.
- SRPG: If it's a Vita game, there aren't many options. Probably Disgaea 3. If it's a PSP game, tough call. Growlanser ?
- Fighter: I'm betting on DOA5. If it's MK I'd be disappointed: lent my cousin's copy, beaten it and then I got the game on EU PS+.
- PSN game: I'd go with The Cave like almost anyone else.

Jumped for this deal too. +3 month and + 10$ is too good to not.
I am curios, to what type will be converted existing PS+, when PS4 will out, if those rumors about tiers is true.

the most logical thing to do would to have three tiers, a free one, a ps+ one and a full feature one and ps+ could just continue as it is... it's sony though so who knows...

Why can't you just use the store app?

Different interface. Also, if you click on a link somewhere to a store item, it doesn't work [on Vita].

For store-bought cards, expect everything works fine with a PSN card. But, with a PS+ card you get the 3 months, but not the $10.

Good enough for me. The people who wanted a switch back to monthly previews get what they wanted and the weirdos
(: P)
who like the weekly suspense still get something to look forward to.

I've just signed up for another year + 3 months of Playstation Plus. I'm less than $20 to spend in order to get back $20 in credit. Thank goodness SCEA is following SCEE's footsteps and doing a rundown on what we'll receive each new month that comes by starting in March.

The Cave and Specs Ops: The Line are likely candidates according to the clues. I see Disgaea 3 Vita, Tactics Ogre: LUCT, or Jeanne D'Arc. I'll laugh if it's Final Fantasy Tactics PSP again. As for the fighter, I hope it's DOA5 or Skullgirls but I'm seeing a Capcom PSN fighter game being free or Mortal Kombat for the Vita.
