If you do the quests in Playstation Home you can pick up a free month. Took me about 30 minutes to complete or so.

How do you see how much time you have left? Account Management > Transaction Management > Service List > Playstation Plus > Playstation Plus
How do I cancel auto-renew? same thing as above, there's an option there in the Playstation Plus expiration date page
Do I lose my game if I don't resub? No, you do lose access to playing them, they will go hidden in your download list, once you resub, they reappear and all PS+ items get pushed to the top of your download list
Can I keep or playing my games after my sub runs out? Really!. They still appear on my HDD? Those games have reverted back to their demo state!

Pretty sure the lose/renew/regain access is there.
I guess on the reversion question we could add one that says "make sure you're subbed, start them up, renew license, cancel full download, then play". That's basically what it needs, right?

On the first system I play Grand Theft Auto 5, make it onto the second island or whatever (no idea if there are actual islands in GTA5, don't worry about spoilers), save the game, and upload the save to the cloud.
On the second system I start a new game in GTA5 (under the same PS+ account), don't make it off the first island, save the game. Upload to the cloud.
Under these circumstances, will it be easy to tell which save is from which system? If I were to go back to that first console the next day, would the game automatically load the local save, or would it load the save from the second system since it's newer?

IANAEWWAS (I Am Not An Engineer Who Works At Sony), but I would think that it would default to whichever save was created most recently. I'm not sure what the exact syncing process which determines that would be, but there would have to be something. If it's not efficient enough to just do it at runtime for each game, maybe there is just a regular syncing process.
Interesting question.
It depends on the game. If the game uses a single save file, then the system that syncs last will probably overwrite what's there. If it is saving individual titled save files with timestamps, etc. then perhaps all will get backed up and it will be a huge pile of save files in the cloud.
That said, each system will retain its local save until you choose to download the cloud version. That's how it works, IIRC. So each player on each system should be fine locally until they act to go get a save from the cloud.

Actually, I was talking about renewing a sub. Your games will still have the expired license (IIRC) until you start them. At that point you'll have an opportunity to renew the license and it may then start to redownload the game ... but (again IIRC) you can just stop the download once it's actually started since the existing install will use the newly downloaded license (which precedes the actual data download).

But for purely selfish reasons I wish Virtue's last Reward was the Vita game getting released tomorrow... (finished a second playthrough of 999 yesterday and i was really hoping to start the sequel tomorrow)

I would go with 16GB if you can stretch that far. But it's expensive.

Now that PS+ is required to play multiplayer on the PS4, do you think Sony will decrease the the discounts and free games offered, since they know they customers will 'have' to buy a subscription now?
There have been a few threads speculating on it, but realistically we're not going to know until this time next year at the earliest I wouldn't think. And it won't be via any kind of official announcement.
The first year or so will probably be quite tame due to the lack of a backlog of titles to lean on, but I think they'd want to maintain the quality of service in the long term.
They'll probably keep offerring better PS3 and Vita content whilst the PS4 catches up.

The "one game per month" with 3 indies already confirmed after a gimped Drive Club version is certainly creating a lot of doubt.
If I were Sony I would say clearly what's the plan for PS+ at Gamescom. Unless the plan is offering gimped versions of games with a fee to upgrade to full version....

I joined PS+ yesterday and have a few questions/observations/complaints.
1. It was a real pain in the ass for me to even sign up. I live in Japan with a JPN PS3 but a US PSN account and a US credit card tied to the account. When I first signed up for PSN I could use my card in Japan no problem to buy stuff. I bought MKII and left $20 in my PS Wallet. But after E3 when I decided that I would not be renewing my XBL Gold account and that I would move over to PS+, my card no longer worked. Did they change their terms after the hacking incident a couple years ago? Why don't they want to take my money?
In the end I just went over to Amazon and bought a $50 card that immediately showed me the code. Not the end of the world, but I would rather be able to instantly add funds to my wallet via my credit card.
My question is, is anyone here in a similar situation? Have any Americans living abroad successfully linked a US credit card to their PSN account recently? Is it even possible?
2. Downloads are slow as molasses. Like unbelievably slow. Not sure exactly what my speeds were, but I started downloading Vanquish, XCom, and Deus Ex last night at around 10pm and still weren't done when I woke up this morning. My Xbox 360 downloads are lightning fast, as are all of my other devices in my home.
3. The store kinda sucks. This is something I noticed immediately. Great, great values and sales and free stuff, but the store is so damn slow and choppy.
Anyways, I know that I've only mentioned some negative things, but I hope that these are all addressed for the PS4. That's the main reason I signed up anyways, and to grab XCOM and some Vita games in case I ever buy a Vita. But the value proposition is pretty incredible and Sony has done a lot recently to build good will with me. I like the direction they seem to be headed, and I'm happy to support them. I just want the experience to be as good as it possibly can be.

I don't know which wireless adapters Sony use in the PS3s. Seems like they're not that good. I have a Superslim with 100% signal and it's still very slow compared to using a cabled connection. Unless you're already doing that, I suggest you plug in a cable for the big downloads. It's much faster than using wi-fi.

Another update on Live Events Viewer:
I got another XMB message from PSN, acknowledging the problems with the PPV on Sunday. They gave me a $5 PSN code for the problems. Yeah, more free money from PSN!
They didn't say anything about a possible replay of the show, or if Money in the Bank will be free and working next month in the app.

Yes, some games have reappeared - there is a list a few pages back that has all titles offered, and you can see which ones repeated.
