PlayStation Plus Thread: Plus What? PLUS EVERYTHING!

I grabbed one, it is over now, seemed to have postive reviews had 6 left when I got mine $30, the ones that people were bidding like $42 I thought were not even worth it with the anniversary coming up they will likely do another deal.

He relisted it and the reviews seemed good so I hope it works out. :/

Ya, what I thought too. I hate buying codes on ebay though, I'm too afraid of getting scammed on stuff like that. Maybe I'll just breakdown and buy it.

Ya, the minis and ps1 games should. There was some glitch that is wasn't working for some but it's meant to. I just wasn't sure if it was different restrictions on these since they're full PS3 games and thought maybe when they rotate they also expire so you don't have a huge PS3 log of games for free for almost forever.

Wait, what? I didn't realize there was an expiration date on games downloaded with playstation plus. I thought any game we got through this stayed on your system until your plus membership ran out. I've got a huge backlog of these games that I'm just now starting to get into. I've kept my membership current and plan to for the foreseeable future.

What? They don't unless they say they do for some odd reason which I'm not sure if it ever did. I said it's if you lapse you lose them until you sign up again.

So do we have any indication that we'll be getting something new tomorrow? Or is this just a monthly or (*gulp*) every 4 month thing?

not a 4 month thing that's for sure. Tomorrow, we're bringing some good discounts, but we'll be bringing in new free content a LOT sooner than 4 months. Working on getting good stuff added in all the time, not over long stretches of time.

Just got the code via email and it worked.

Thanks for the follow up. I grabbed one off the relisting. $30 is a great deal.

Edit: I got the code via email just now. If you need a renewal this year, I recommend grabbing one from this guy. Sony is unlikely to offer a better deal.

The trophy whore in me is saying to download Just Cause 2 and platinum it. I already 1000/1000'd it on X360 but it's such a fun game. Long but fun

Probably the most fun I ever had platinuming a game.

One bad thing though is every trophy displays the same image, even the platinum.

as others have said they do last until the end of your sub, the only thing that might not is the 1 hour trails... I think those expire one year after you add them to your download list period. (which I figured was worth mentioning)

Yeah that sounds good, I just needed it explained to me better which it was. I was under the impression it was new stuff every 16 weeks but I guess it's at least 3 new games a month in a rotation, which is good. It's kind of similar to the older system but without the ps1 games. I personally just hope it's 3 blu ray games :p

Thanks for the clarification. I must have misunderstood the post that I originally quoted.

So, could someone summarize what actually happened at E3? Are these ten or so games that are free lasting the whole month? And will every month have ten games, or is it just this one month thing? If so, we were really over-hyped for a one month announcement, weren't we?

They completely changed how it worked

3 games are there for a year
1 game will change every month
The other 8 games will be rotated in pairs every month, so every month you'll get two new ones and they'll be up for 4 months
In Europe it is 6 games but they only stay up for 3 months

The idea is any time you subscribe to PS+ you'll have 12 games to play (10 in Europe) and you'll get 3 new games every month, no more PS1 or Minis though

Some guy on CAG posted an Ebay auction with some guy selling a bunch of 1 year subs for $30. The codes expire July 15th. Wonder where the guy got them from

I would buy one but my subscription is good until next July. That and I don't think they'll do any PS4 integration off the bat.

Thank you very much for the response. This unfortunately sounds less awesome for me than it once was. Still can't complain though.

It was stated that they will still make exceptions to giving out free PS1/PS2/Minis games if they feel it would be worthwhile for people. They just don't want to have to keep searching every month for a new game to put out that probably doesn't make too many people excited is all.

They stay on your Download List permanently, you just can't actually without a subscription. But if you take some time off from subscribing and later re-subscribe, you'll be able to play them again.

That's about what I got as well but it's nice to see someone else with about the same info as the NA blog hasn't exactly been completely clear about how things will work.

Personally I won't miss the minis, I have been ps plus since day 1 and the majority of the mini's are terrible lol. I haven't gotten to them all yet but the only one in the first year I had a lot of fun playing for the first year was a space shooter for 2 bucks.

I am a bit sad at the reduction to ps1 games (since they said we will still get some from time to time) but I doubt they would focus on the JRPGs to much and for the most part those are the only ps1 games on the psn I care about that I haven't already gotten though plus or haven't already bought. I was shocked when they gave us ff5 lol.

I am curious to see what they offer next month. I am fully expecting an uncharted game in 4 months though (you know just after the 3 month subs are up from people who jumped on the 12 games) so they can try to get people to resub for longer.

The good thing about this rotation scheme they've come up with is that after this first month there will be new games available every two or three weeks. At the start of each month there will be a new "game of the month" (currently VF5), then at the mid point of each month two of the standard titles will be replaced.

Also after one year, just when some subscriptions are coming up for renewal, there will be an additional three new games as they replace LBP2, Motorstorm, Infamous.

I think they've designed it pretty well actually.

(This is based on the EU info, not sure how it will differ in NA.)

It sounds like 3 new games a month but that might be worse than what we used to get. It all depends on the games. If it's 3 blu ray titles then that's different, but if it's 1 (which I'm sure the game of the month will always be blu ray) and 2 psn games that's pretty much the same as what we used to get. Sometimes worse as some months they used to go nuts.

Lucky EU users. No offense to Space Marine but I would happily trade it for Darksiders.

never managed to pull the trigger on darksiders. Even had it in my lovefilm queue but didn't play it. So i'm happy to have it for free (and probably still not play it)

Right now the game of the month is a PSN title. So I wouldn't count on that. But I think that if it's a PSN title, it'll be a title released that month.

Hmm you're right, I thought it was little big planet for some reason. I also thought this VF5 game was a full game so I was pretty disappointed to only see 12 trophies :(

What determines a full game? I'm not much of a fighter fan, but it looked pretty 'full' to me.

Usually 12 trophies classifies it as a PSN game and it's even listed under the PSN section on the trophy site I use (which explains why I couldn't find it, I was looking under retail). It's not like the full releases that are also available digitally.

I have no idea about the actual content of the game though.

A couple of months ago we saw the survey with three different options for the future of Plus, one of those options came to about 45 games each year, 5 of them being Blu-Ray which seems to be the plan they're following.

It's most likely the same deal we had before where the number you are hearing is the min they will give but there likely will be more. With the previous plan we were just guaranteed 1 ps3 game, 1 ps1 game and 1 mini and qore. We got a decent amount of extra stuff beyond that each month this year.

I can agree with this thought, but it also makes me sad as it was my least favorite of the 3 plans they polled about. Here's hoping that they stay true to the bit about the games being higher quality titles (aka not stuff like digger HD or frogger returns) I guess we will see how the new plus is next month, as long as it's on par with what we had previously I know I will at least be happy.

Hopefully it's not that, 5 a year is kind of sucky when we were getting 1 a month before. Plus last week they already gave us around 5-7 blu ray games.

How did you get 1 Blu-Ray game per month? I don't believe they launched a lot of them at all on Plus. And 3 of the launched games are 'permanent', so I believe they'll probably be something like a signing bonus.

And zulux21. I preferred plan 3 too, especially the big reductions on games.

We were getting 1 PSN game a month, which could have been a retail PS3 game, but usually just a PSN game. I think the survey guaranteed 5 PS3 retail games a year.

Plan 3 was the best one. I don't even know why people would seemingly pick the other two if they could get 75% off everything on the store which is what plan 3 offered.

I don't know if it was exactly 1 a month but they were hitting a pretty good stride. They were giving away Shift 2, Far Cry 2, Tomb Raider Underworld, Sly 1 HD (technically blu ray since it was the HD one with trophies) and the whole back to the future set if you want to include that too.

Sly 1 was the PSN version. The Blu-Ray version is three in one. Same for Back to the Future, that was the PSN version. Both would still be possibilities in the new system.

True, but that was only since January or so. Before that there were zero.

I'm sure this question has been asked more than once, but has Sony said anything about whether subscribers' games will "go free" once the service ends? (like, when Sony discontinues PS+ for this generation of consoles)

I figured plan 3 wouldn't happen, it seemed a little crazy to give a 75% discount to everything, but setting up some sort of system where the first item you buy each month was 75% off would have been really awesome and well worth it as in the first two months I would have been able to snag warriors orochi and moon diver, two games that I am waiting on discounts.

but even with a plan like that, with a few more full ps3 releases getting digital only releases in NA, such a plan would make releasing a game like Pirate Warriors digitally a bit odd, as if it was released day one for $50, at 75% off it would be 12.50, I doubt namco/koei would agree to less profits from such a plus discount, and it would be hard on sony to take the loss... aka the whole thing could be a mess.

We will have to see where plus goes from here though. I know the current new set up has doubled the number of people I know with plus (though most only got 3 month subs) if the subs increase they can increase what they give out and try to get even more people. I mean if 2 million people become plus members, even assuming they all bought a year to be the cheapest they could be that is a little over 8 million in money each month sony could spend toward plus promotions. I would assume for a lot of games sony just gives them a lump sum to give away their game, as in general the games we have gotten have either been older games from bigger companies, with the newer games mostly being from smaller companies. Which means which each sub sony could have a little more money to spend on plus. If they can take all of that money and continue to make it really attractive, we might even reach a point where people will buy a ps3 just to sign up for plus.

All in all so far PS Plus for me is one of the better things to come out of this gen for consoles on the digital front. Of course I also will play pretty much any genre of game and love to play random games I haven't played before.

as far as I know sony hasn't touched upon that. If their online services for the ps2 are anything to go by, we likely have 5-6 years before we even have to worry about that at this point. Ideally the PS4 will be able to play all of the digital content we have already and we will be able to just download them on there. If it can't though, it will be interesting to see what sony will do. I mean saying "when we shut down the psn for the ps3 you lose all of your plus games on the ps3" would drive a lot of people away from plus, assuming it's still something like what it is now

Playstation Plus: Home of Underrated Multiplayer Gems

Seriously, Awesomenauts and Space Marine are some of the most fun multiplayer I've had in quite some time. They're both pretty unique, and thankfully they have a lot of people on the servers since they're free for Plus members.

Was thinking that yesterday, but I assume PS+ may well be something they mantain on the PS4 and have the service from the get go.

Has anyone had any trouble installing the PS+ games? I can't tell if the issue is because the files are big, or because of a different error. I get about 14% of the way through the install of games like Saints Row 2 or Ratchet and Clank and then it says the install couldn't be completed. Smaller things like the Sonic 4.2 demo install with no issue.

I'm so surprised that Sideway goes unnoticed. I'm playing that more than LBP2 or inFamous 2. Great little unique platformer.

I played the first two levels and thought the music was really monotonous, so I kind of fell out of it. It was surprising to me that the soundtrack looped as often as it did or didn't allow for custom soundtracks, considering the presentation & themes of the game.

Ok, this is weird. My VF5 keeps stalling at exactly 65% download. I've canceled it and restarted it three times and each time it only gets to 65% and then nothing.

It's been preventing any game from being patched overnight and my trophies aren't syncing either because of it. All the other games downloaded just fine.
