Why is it that all the games I own are for free? :/
I've stopped purchasing games on PSN cause it's now really pissing me off that I paid shit loads and I'm waiting in hopes of rest being free soon down the line.

Upcoming content doesn't look good to me. I still have my free month...I just don't see any reason to resubscribe to the service. It hasn't shown its value to me outside the summer sale discounts (I already had most of the games they were offering) which are already over and the Borderlands one.

Just a quick question, i need to renew my Plus soon but i was wondering if i buy the 12 months plus 3 extra deal (UK) will it just add the additional time onto my current account?
I've been having trouble with content I downloaded under the free Plus 30 days offer, but later purchased outright. Sonic 2 was free under Plus in June, but it was also part of that Sonic Birthday Bundle that was on PSN for $20. I bought the bundle and didn't think twice about it. Sonic 2 now states it is expired as of the end of the Plus trial period. It also doesn't appear in my download or transaction list, and the game itself in the store has a blue cart icon on it, as opposed to the purple icon that shows content as purchased.
Incidentally, I even re-subscribed to Plus for a year but it still doesn't let me play the game. I just got off the phone with Sony support and they said they would refund me in 3-5 days for the purchased content. Has anyone else had issues of this sort with PSN purchases?

I'm a little concerned about my Borderlands download. I had the Borderlands 60-minute trial on my HDD when I downloaded the full game and DLC as part of the recent PS+ deal. However my Borderlands game had a 2012 expiration date before I played it. Haven't checked recently (I've played well over an hour, and earned real trophies, so it's clearly not the 60-minute trial rules in effect.)Baron said:

Subbed day 1, realized I haven't been downloading any of the free content or buying anything on the cheap in some time. Not worth it for me.

All my free PSN+ on all my accounts on now over, and I have to say, overall, not bad, but not good enough to pay for.
positives:
Spending a good few evenings playing through Burnout Paradise when it was free on UK PSN+
Saving two or three bucks on DD games I wanted (Pixeljunk Shooter 2 and Limbo)
mixed:
60-minute trials let me try a few games I was curious about that didn't get regular demos, but I don't like the concept of timed demos; I hate the feeling of time ticking down.
dynamic themes are weird but slightly amusing
cloud saves and auto updating sound cool, but I don't care about them

Asian PSN+ Hong Kong was bad, but the Japanese PSN+ is just unbelievably awful. I can't imagine why anyone pays for it. No timed demos, very few discounts, all the free stuff expires after 30 days, rather than at the end of your subscription.
Here's how I would fix PSN+:
Discount every game. I don't know what Sony's cut of download revenue is, but if it's like Apple's, 30%, they could easily apply a blanket discount of 10% or even 20% on everything in the store. Those savings would add up a lot quicker than bigger discounts that I have to wait for, or on stuff I only half-want.
Give a choice of free games. You can't pick a game every month that everyone will like. Like the welcome back package, why not give a choice of one out of two or three games? It'd be more on their part sorting things out with the publishers, but doable, I think, and a big improvement.

With all these Sega classics getting the PSN treatment, I hope Ristar receives the same at some point in the near future. Would adore the opportunity to play that game with trophies; any excuse to beat it again.

So I thought I'd share this experience here since there's no where else to share it.
I've been a Plus member since February and my 3 months was due to expire in May. The PSN outage happened and we all got the extension which took my Plus membership into July. Throughout those months I downloaded games like Sonic and Magic for free. A week before my July sub was about to expire, I renewed for a year. Fast forward a few weeks later to now, I try to play Magic and it's reverted to the demo version. OK, I thought, this has happened before just redownload the games to renew the expiration. Wrong, it has disappeared from my download history and does not give me the option to download from the store, only buy. Again, my PSN Plus membership has never expired or lapsed.
So I send PSN customer service an e-mail the other day, I get a reply back that says they can't help me because the account I have does not seem to have Plus on it.
Right. I sigh and call them up, talk to some very nice representatives, and it seems the PSN outage free month set something wonky in my account that gave me a whole bunch of random expiration dates and subscription dates. In the end, the guy wasn't sure he'd be able to get back the expired licenses for the free games over the last months, but he did confirm that I never, ever had my Plus expire on my account.
Not the end of the world, but I will admit Plus has been a bit annoying when it comes to properly updating the expirations of games that you downloaded. I don't regret getting the year but I think that'll be it for me because I'm afraid of what will happen when I try to renew next year. Redownload a year worth of games to update expirations?

It makes me wonder how PS+ expiration works. Everytime you download a PS+ free game on PSN, there's a disclaimer that tells you that you own the game until your membership expires and if you buy any DLC for that game, it won't work after PS+ expiration. It tells you to buy the game after that.
But they also stated elsewhere that you get back every single piece of content you downloaded from the store when you renew (before or after expiration) your membership. To be able to buy a game you got for free, they must pull it from your download list I think. Or else, you'd be stuck downloading a game that you can't play !

Well that's a genuine dilemma. I really wanted the physical copy of the Splinter Cell Collection, but if I get it cheaper with PS+...
What to do, what to do. The physical release is out in September, and that month is already packed with the Team ICO Collection, the Silent Hill Collection (maybe), Amy (maybe) and Dead Island. Maybe I'm better off getting it now.
