PlayStation Plus Thread: Plus What? PLUS EVERYTHING!

Didn't Siren come out before trophies? This is purely speculative but I doubt scee or scea would release a PSN game that lacked trophies.

Yes apparently siren has no trophies. Also, in the EU quite a few people complained to Ross that SR2 had no trophies and the comment was made that no more games without trophies would be put on +. EU only AFAIK.

If we get Borderlands and Just Cause 2, I'm going to be so fucking mad.

I really don't own that many games. The chances of them going through my entire game library seems incredibly slim, and yet somehow they're managing.

I've seen some people complaining because Outland is poised to be the next PS+ freebie. They figure it's merely a "PSN downloadable game" and therefore it must be automatically inferior to anything that originated in a retail box.

It would be a shame if that assumption is preventing you from wanting to give Outland a try. I'd say it was one of the best games of 2011, downloadable or otherwise.

Personally, I wish they were giving away some other game instead, but that's only because I already bought Outland last year. Anyone who hasn't played it yet has missed out on a real gem. Hopefully you won't miss out on it now.
I agree 100%, i was bored and decided to start playing some of the games Plus has given me for free and decided to give Outland a go and it was a great game. The mechanics are simple but quite varied and it was actually quite tough at times due to the allignment changes and the quick responses needed.

I then went on to try Renegade Ops which was also surprisingly good and reminded me a bit of the old Strike games on Mega Drive (Jungle, Desert ect).

In comparison i really wanted to try out Saints Row 2 so downloaded it yet found the controls lacking which put me off the game and i proceeded to delete it.

Moral is dont judge a book by its cover (or if it has a game case in this case) because you are just loosing out on playing some very good games.

I really hope they don't end up being the games.

Just Cause 2 entertained me for a while, and then I got fairly bored of it quite quickly, and the same with Borderlands.

When can we expect to find out what these are? Tomorrow?

Ugh, I hope not. I really have to take a deeper look at what games I'd lose if I don't resubscribe.

I wish they'd just tell us what the next load of games are, instead of doing this drawn out scenario with hints and stuff.

It is a subscription service after all, and it's not nice to get my hopes up only to discover a game that I've already owned. Obviously I don't expect every month to be full of games I've never touched, I play too many for that to happen - but I wouldn't mind a bit more upfront clarity.

Funnily enough, grabbed this as part of the free games package but wasn't particularly interested in playing it. Thought I'd give it a go over the weekend and have to say that I'm really enjoying it.

Great combination of puzzle and action and a learning curve which verges on brutal at times but is fair enough that, as long as you learn from your mistakes, you can keep progressing and feel genuinely pleased with yourself about it.

Think I'm about half way through and would highly recommend it.

Outland is a lot of things, but a gen isn't one of them.

I'd be pretty pissed off too if it was one of my game rentals of the month. It's a terrible game, but then I guess it's impossible to keep letting people rent gems.

That is precisely why I've been complaining. I've made my position on downloadable/indie games clear in threads like this, 360 threads about exclusives (because they always come down to "but xbla!"), and the steam thread. I have no interest in these cheap arcade style games. I don't pay $6-$7 a month to play them, I do it to play retail stuff and the occasional PS1 classic.

Now I'm not unreasonable and I know they can't give nothing but retail stuff away, but 2 months in a row of nothing but PSN crap really rubs me the wrong way. I've wasted 2/3 of my 3 month card that I bought with my fund that I have for late-2012 games. If I had known they were going to pull this I would have saved my near $20 and I would be that much closer to getting a great looking game like Dishonored, AC3, Hitman or Xcom.

edit: I have to say Europe getting big game after big game only fuels the frustration. I'm not mad at them though, good for them. I'm upset at Sony for that.

Is Borderlands a potential for EU? I'd be happy with that. Been curious about that for a while. Never played JC2 either so that's all good.

I don't agree with you on the first part, but I do agree with you on the second part. It feels like a bait and switch to me. They got me with all the big games and pull my money then switched 180 degrees and didn't offer the quality of content they did at first. I do feel swindled and I'm with you that had I known this would go down like this, I wouldn't have bought into it in the first place.

And I don't care about EUR getting games we aren't. I know every region offers something different. What chaps my ass is that seeing what SCEE is offering on retail titles you know SCEA could offer the same quality but they aren't. So it looks like SCEA is being purposely prudish with content and I refuse to pay for a divisions incompetence.

That's it for the month for NA then?

Guess I'll spend some time trying these PSN games for kicks before my subscription runs out in less than a month (not gonna renew).

Outland is good.

I couldn't really get into it unfortunately, but it's definitely worth a try. Not heard much about Bloodrayne.

So EU update is tomorrow right?

Edit: From last PS Plus update

"I will be back on 15th August, during gamescom 2012 with two more games for Your Instant Game Collection to replace Darksiders and Renegade Ops, both of which have only two weeks left as part of YIGC.

Please don't be Borderlands and JC2 D:

Bah--not a good sign. I'd rather have more free PS1 games.

Outland is a good game, I'm shocked to see somebody describe it as "terrible". Typical GAF hyperbole I suppose.

It isn't terrible at all. I got it for XBLA the day it launched. What is "terrible" is that Europe got Dead Space 2 retail and we got Outland.

I'm done too. No renew for me. Too bad too, if they had kept up the quality I didn't foresee myself ever not having the service but seems SCEA doesn't care about their customers enough to keep them reeled in.

Classic case of style over substance. Gameplay is severely lacking, almost dull. The checkpoint system is beyond irritating and the world is dull and uninteresting, the combat is mind numbingly repetitive. The faux metroidvania is probably the most annoying aspect of the game.

But I guess that's all hyperbole.

I have a feeling we're going to see this every year from Sony. Around E3 they'll put up new full PS3 games and then the rest of the year will be PSN titles.

Ugh, another weak month for NA, I gave you guys a pass last month because I knew every month couldn’t have been as epic as e3′s month. But a PSN title replacing a Full PS3 game? What?

My Plus subscription just expired, and I think I might make the switch to EU Plus, seriously why is EU’s offering soooooo much better????

I think you’ll like what the next months have to offer; stay tuned!
Seems like a pretty clear-cut inference that SCEA has more retail games lined up soon.

Bloodrayne I never got so that is cool but Dust Beta!?!?! Are you guys serious, who DOESN'T have that Beta right now? And that's the "action-oriented" beta they promised us last month and failed to deliver that month and everyone was waiting for? They were giving codes away for that game like they were candy. They could have REALLY save their ass (and keep alot of subscribers it seems like) by giving us the Playstation Battle Royal Beta this month instead. They know it's on consumers minds now, they know their "3 months since E3" window is closing to keep subscribers/money why wait for hype to die down AND lose money in the process. Seems like a dumb move to me. Let's take a poll: who would have stayed with plus if we got a new Beta like Battle royal over the old Dust Beta? Make your voices be heard on here and their official forums.

I still really think you guys should PM the Sony Playstation network rep who is quite active in the Store threads a link to this thread. I'd really like to learn a little more about what goes into their decision making/planning for this program.

I guess my wife will be happy, I wasn't impressed with the bloodryane game but she enjoyed the demo. Outlands looked ok but again the demo didn't impress perhaps the full game will be more interesting.

Personally I am fine if we never get another digital PS3 release again. They are huge time consuming downloads of games that I could either borrow from my friends or buy for $10 or less. If I am going to get a game valued at $10 I would rather have the PSN games as I can't easily borrow those from my friends. That being said though I wouldn't mind if they got together with Koei and got Warriors Orochi 3 or Pirate Warriors next year as those are digital only and I can't borrow them from my friends if I want to play them. Plus I own pretty much every PS3 game that got a physical release that I would ever want to play (if they were to release a ps3 game day 1 that would be a different story but pretty much all of them are going to be at least a year old), meanwhile I hold off on digital buys a lot because the store so rarely puts them on sale that it's hard to be suckered in by a sale :P

Unfortunately for me it seems like we will get a full PS3 game next month or at least Morgan Haro is teasing one on the ps blog

I HATE this thread. For less than five bucks you get two Walking Dead episodes, Outland and Bloodrayne, and a bunch of discounts, and all people do is complain because they're NUTS.

Can't wait until a year from now, when people are demanding that they should get a PS4 for free because they bought three months of Plus.

How much value do you people need to justify your minuscule investment? 5 bucks a month should push Sony to give over fifty dollars in games every month? What world do you live in?

It's all about expectations. EU is getting full retail releases while we're getting....PSN games. Don't be over dramatic.

I like how the official guy says "soon". Without even mentioning a specific time frame. Just another bait and switch by Sony to get three more months out of you. Don't they know yearly subscriptions cost more (i.e. more money for them). If they gave us maybe a brief yearly overview (their a game company so they know way better than us what new games are coming out, what DLC/PSN games/Betas are coming out and for how much and they can plan accordingly to see what would be the best value to the consumer) I think that maybe a bit better than just stringing us along month to month. I know it's just an idea, and a bit flawed because things change alot over a year, but it's an idea worth having. Sometimes I wonder what goes through the minds of their marketing department.
