If you played a lot of sports games and franchises, you would see the need for it.
That would be nice, yes.
1GB is a lot for save games.
MetalMurphy was being sarcastic, it already does that

When's the announcement for October's PS plus goodies? Is it on Monday?
When do you guys think LBP2, Motorstorm Apocalypse and Infamous 2 will get replaced? On the EU blog it says "available all year round". Does that mean forever or just 2012?
I just went on the store to buy the Borderlands DLC while it was on discount. I figured it still would be since I never saw it appear in the "Expiring soon" section, and I check it every week. Then I find it and see that it's at full price again.
Wtf? Do they quietly expire content like this often?
NFL Blitz was great, same gameplay as the older games. Good luck to anyone going for all of the trophies though, goddamn.
I hope it's not just Blitz. I have zero interest in sports or sports games.
I hope not, but I am more favorable to more arcade-y approaches to sports games so I'll give Blitz a fair try in case it does it for me.I hope it's not just Blitz. I have zero interest in sports or sports games.
That's what I'd expect from Ubi.I was thinking we'd probably get an Assassin's Creed game for free. But then they announced the Ezio trilogy so I dunno. Maybe Assassin's Creed 1 lol
I was actually kind of excited for Blitz until I found out it's a PSN game. I need a lot more than that :\
Plus isn't free though. People have every right to complain."This free shit isn't good enough!"
I think SCEA (the ones who I believe thought of PS+ in the first place) didn't intend on giving away so much, but after Welcome Back and a few other exceptions, now they have to give away tons of free games a month, and not only that, having reputable mainstream name value as well (or people will complain like above). So all the niche games that many are interested in but wouldn't really buy are as normal, while games that would sell boatloads are just given for free. They've been giving away so much a new term had to be used, "Instant Game Collection". Ugh.
The other thing with PS+ is I think it is starting to deteriorate product value in PSN games and as a result there's a gradual decrease in general sales on PSN games. Not as many are buying anymore now that SCEA/SCEE decide to give some new games free a month later or day one. Another nitpick from my end is that these free games become prime targets of trophy cheaters, previously sometimes rare 100%s become worthless after that, but I won't emphasize on this point because I know what I'll hear.
I understand I'm in the minority for thinking what PS+ has become is somewhat of a negative thing. Because if something if free, most people won't think twice.
Plus isn't free though. People have every right to complain.
Point is, people are always looking for more value in things they're invested in, and you really can't blame them for it.
Eh, Sony pulled a Netflix and it's their own fault really. You can't give out a ton of stuff one month and nothing the next, and of course people are going to be asking for more free PSN games with Plus. Who wouldn't want more? If Sony doesn't like it, they shouldn't have added a ton of games in one month. Spreading it out would have probably helped out a lot in that case.Right, but take a look at just how much content is given for free. It far outweighs the $50 USD per year fee. If one freebie isn't up to par, I'm sure SCEA/SCEE will make sure to get some other big name games out for free so nobody complains.
What I'm ultimately saying is, it's bred a culture of drones spouting things like "will this be free on Plus?" for every game announced or mentioned coming to PSN in the future.
When PS+ launched in 2010 it had a lot of promise, but now it's just "freebie service" (of games personally I've already bought or not interested in, but that's my case).
The locked saves only apply to transferring to different systems, if you're just upgrading the hard drive the backup utility will restore everything. But since you're a member of Plus now, you can even transfer and back up locked saves thanks to the Cloud Save feature (it's a large part of the reason everyone was so excited for it). In fact, I'd recommend you go ahead and start uploading saves anyway. On the downside, I'm down to like 27 GB on my 120 GB hard drive (bought PS3 in 2009). I have a question regarding that. How does upgrading the hard drive work? Is all the data transferrable? I remember some time ago certain games couldn't be like Demon's Souls, Super Street Fighter IV, etc., both of which I have, neither of whose games saves I want to lose.
If it's in your download history, it's yours as long as the subscription lasts. And if you let your subscription expire, you get everything back when you resubscribe (or at least you're supposed to, there have been bugs...). I think claiming every piece of content is kinda the point, go for it.Another question on the whole "content that expires" thing. So long as I have requested the download at least once I get to "keep" that game past the month in which it's offered, right (so long as I'm subscribed, blah blah)? What would stop me from just requesting the download for every game? Is there some kind of limit, or can I literally claim every piece of content that's offered on PS+?
...I don't recall being asked to complete a survey
How do you think developers feel when a now huge percentage of PSN users don't buy new games anymore or "will this be free on Plus" is the first thing asked? Maybe their next game will be only on XBLA or Steam, both of which sees better new release sales than PSN. Or maybe there won't be a next game, since they couldn't even break even on PSN thanks to the new PS+ mentality.
But Sony has reported PSN sales are up since the introduction of PS+. Not everyone is a PS+ member and positive buzz from members who got the game free should encourage sales from non-members. PS+ discounts on digital releases also encourage sales. PS+ can also have the effect of swaying multi-console owners to favor purchases on the PS3 over the 360. All together it's probably a net positive, especially compared to XBLA where it's widely reported game sales are on a steep decline.

Sources?
I'm sure it technically means sales are positive for PS+ subscriptions (which would technically factor in to "overall PSN sales"), not necessarily your normal new release game that doesn't get PS+ treatment (free or discount). And who is to say they aren't interchanging the word "sales" with "downloads"? Whatever the case, we aren't getting sale numbers of each game per month that comes out, and leaderboard numbers are shaky territory.
But I buy more stuff from PSN because of PSN plus discount too....
None of it is free, you're paying for it.Right, but take a look at just how much content is given for free.

I pay one time. Saying that you are paying for the games months later is stupid. Nothing is being charged to my credit card 11 out of 12 months.

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=489848This whole thing is incredibly confusing to me. I can't believe Sony don't have a "what you get if you join now" page. Can anyone help with this? Basically I'm weighing up a PS3 purchase, and getting plus 90 days, to save me having to buy any of the games I want to play.
You'll never win
Every time PS+ gets mentioned
A talking head or 2 will come in go hurr durr it's not free you guys
Like they just got that feeling of satisfaction of "Nailed It!"
Thanks that's great. There's not as many PSN games as I hoped, but I think Little Big Planet 2 and MotorStorm make it worthwhile for me alone. The 25% off discount helps also. e. Oh it's a discount off the sub, not all games.
