PlayStation Plus Thread: Plus What? PLUS EVERYTHING!

All this update does is remind me that I need to complete Mega Man 9 from my backlog. Bought it way back on release, forgot about it immediately. It was a tough little game, but I've been making good progress on my backlog so far, so I'll get to it.

From what I remember, the achievements on the 360 side were ridiculous stuff like speedruns well beyond the capability of the average gamer anyway. No big loss on the trophy side.

There's one for beating the game without taking damage. It's, uh, a bit much.

Mega Man 10 has trophies but it also has an easy mode.

Well, if you've been following this thread...

Yes, yes people complain about free games.

.

If someone wants to pay for my + subscription I will gladly be happy with not caring that MY first year of ps+ was essentially a year long rental of stacking and that my 2nd had a good start with the initial vita batch of games but hasn't had anything worth downloading since then.

Ah, yes. The exception that proves the rule. The case for your experience with the service, therefore also the experience with the service for everyone. Got it. Thanks.

You're welcome to say that you've been disappointed. But let's stay away from "it sucked for me therefore it sucks [in general]".

All we're saying is we're wasting our money on this so we have the right to complain. The people who are telling us we can't every time is kind of insulting, and borderline corporate ball washing.

If you're happy with it then great for you.

Same could be said for you. Not everything is roses for everyone.

Overall Plus has sucked for me since I already owned pretty much all the games that they offered, but I still think it's a great service. Specially for gamers that don't buy a lot of stuff.

I just wish Plus discounts were extended for more full titles and SCEA sales were as good as SCEE.

Man that Farcry3 and Sleeping Dogs christmas sale were amazing...just take more of my money Sony!

It's past 9PM EST, for fuck's sake. Where is the blog post for the PS Store update?

For that matter, where's kassatsu's thread for this week? It feels like the update is never coming. ;_;

I can't find it over your constant bitching about bitching.
Here, let me help you. Just since the last week in December...

Disappointed we don't get themes or avatars anymore...
Do we get PS+-specific themes and/or avatars now? I feel like there hasn't been anything in that category for a while, but the new store makes that less transparent. I guess I could try sorting by posting date or something.

Criticizing SCEA for how they've handled free PS+ subs...
Sony could have required that the codes not stack. Stupidity all around.

Complaining that the Deus Ex deal should be better...and as a bonus bringing up how SCEA screwed up my Borderlands PS+ purchase from a year earlier...
They really should put a 50% deal on the full Deus Ex. That certainly convinced me to buy the full Borderlands last year. (Then there was the whole "oh, sorry, we lost your license, please pay $30 on top of the $15 we already scammed you into paying" episode. Happily that got fixed. :P)

Agreeing with Derrick01 (!!!) that Chronovolt is a garbage game to add to the PSV side of the service...
I'm not defending that one. If that's replacing something already in the PSV lineup for PS+ ... yuck. Negative PSV sales effect.

Thanks for playing.

My biggest complaint about PS+ is that you can't buy something if you already have the PS+ rental.

That's a huge missed opportunity for Sony IMHO.

I think we all agree on this. It's particularly galling when there's a great sale price and you can't take part.

All I'm gonna say is that if you somehow get less enjoyment over the course of a year out of $50 worth of PS+ than you do out of one $50-60 game, something is wrong, and not with PS+.

An added bonus to what you're really paying $50 for, it seems.*

*The right to complain. Endlessly. About the best service in gaming.

That's your opinion. As it stands now I could have wiped my ass with the money I wasted on 6 months of PS+ and at least I'd get the benefit of saving toilet paper. Or I could have paid a little bit more per month to get Gamefly and get games I actually want to play, not some cheap NES game or chronovolt.

Haha, the tired "that's just your opinion" response, as if it wasn't clear to everyone that we're here exchanging those already. Can't wait for your sub to expire...

... and for you then to resub a month later.

Guess what two people can buy the same thing and have vastly different experiences. For many TWD was goty, after hours of trying solutions from google I couldn't even get the damn thing to boot. One does not make the other an invalid experience.

I could go to the local deli and have the best sandwich ever. You could go and the sandwich could give you food poisoning. Little Billy could go and the bread on the sandwich could make him choke to death. If you're happy with the offerings? Great! but calling them free games is a lie and nothing but a trolling tactic to be dismissive of people who aren't happy with what they are paying for.

If I do resub it's usually for the older games on the service. I still haven't even touched wipeout vita and some older PS3 games they gave away like Tomb Raider Underworld.

Really they need to make 1 month cards so I can re-sub only when there's a month actually worth paying for.

is there no work around? seriously? I'll tweet kaz or the other japanese guy
Other than having two accounts in the same region (i.e. one on PS+ and the other not), there is no workaround that I'm aware of. Just wait for your sub to expire and then buy at that point, provided the sale is still available ... no idea what happens if you resub. That would be nasty if it somehow wiped out the bought license. Hm.

$4 a month isn't going to save much toilet paper dude, especially considering how much shit you spew forth.

Maybe I'm unique in this thought process but I actually buy the games I want to play instead of wishing they are free in PS+ and bitching about the games that are. If you don't like the service, don't pay for it. It's really simple. What is complaining about it here going to do for you?

Maybe I'm just a glass-is-half-full person. Seems like there are fewer and fewer people like that in this world.

PS+ is a supplement to my gaming, that's why I love getting PSN games for free. I don't buy a ton of downloadable games so it's nice to be able to check them out at a low cost.

As for retail games, I buy everything I want so I doubt they could give me something I'd actually want to play or don't own yet.

I guess I was blindly venting my rage...but you agree that the lack of certain games not having released concurrently with US PSN is a load of BS. CS: GO is still MIA in EU isn't it?
So let's blame Valve for refusing to fix the errors SCEE found.

Not even trophies can make me download it. That's how bad that game is.
That is how bad the game is, according to you, who hasn't played the game. According to me it is a fun passtime and I actually played it.

You don't seem to understand; There are only five good games a year, and none of them are worth full price. Derrick buys all of those at full price (and complains) and then complains that PS+ never offers "any good games," except when they do, and then he complains about already owning them.

Chronovolt is not one of the chosen five.

Megaman 9 and 10 for free this week:

*Sigh*

So let's blame Valve for refusing to fix the errors SCEE found.

Do we even have it officially from either Valve or SCEE that the problem is with Valve? Most other games (except Auditorium HD) are explainable (RCR, Closure and the like) and CS:GO is the only one where no-one knows what's going on - and it's probably too late anyway :P

EDIT: Oh, on-topic... err I re-subbed yesterday for the 25% off offer in Europe :)
