PlayStation Plus Thread: Plus What? PLUS EVERYTHING!

Would amuse me if this were a fake rumor just to give Euro people some of the disappointment that US people seem to have and to give the US people some schadenfreude. ;)

I don't think the EU rumour is true.

Sleepy dogs would be a massive kick in the balls for people that got it in the sale.

Nevermind it would damage Sony, being as they have said they would not do this.

I don't think they would risk losing actual game sale money, by breaking that promise.

As a US +'er I'm really hoping that, that Sleeping Dogs for Euro PS Plus members is...FALSE! >^(

Sale was 2 months ago, people had 2 months to enjoy their game they got on sale.

I would be skeptical about F1 racers, but considering Guardians of Middle earth, was release on PLus just 1 month after release... I think the service has no limits.

What schadenfreude? I wish NA PS+ got Sleepy Dogs, I haven't actually played that. :(

I'm also finding that EU PS+ rumour hard to believe.

No source and two games that were released less than six months ago? Sounds way too good to be true. I was actually hoping for Demon's Souls to be added to the list, since it's old enough to fit the bill and it's been added to the PSN store as a digital download very recently. I'm sure some of you would be angry at it, though.

2 months?

The sales was in december '12 days' sale.
You know we are still in January right?

crazy eu update if true. haven't got any of those games.btw angry gamasutra guy, if you still need help, i would like to give some input.

But it would be the February update.

Ah yeah,
DOH!

Still, although not so bad, I still think it goes against what they said, in that games that are on sale will not be plus freebies soon after. 2 months is soon to many people. Not so much to others I guess though.

Why do you hate us Europeans so much jvm? :(
:P
I love my European brothers and sisters. I just want everyone to feel the sting of disappointment so that when the glorious rebirth of PS+ comes ... again! ... during E3 2013, the joy will be all the more sweet.

And then the following year of disappointment feels all the more bitter... ;)

Rumor PS PLUS Feb EU

PS3:
F1 race stars
Quantum Conudrum
Sleeping Dogs

PS VITA
Lumines Electronic S.
Wipeout 2048

I thought retail games on PS+ would have to be at least 6 months old to be included for free. F1 race stars is 3 months old...

Great list for EU if true. It wouldn't affect me if Sleeping Dogs was given for free in NA because I already got the Plat.

NA store is adding 3 bonus months on top of a purchase of a 12-month subscription until March 4.

Just in time for day 1 plusers who started with a 15-month deal and then re-upped the last time there was a 15-month deal to do so again before their subscriptions expire. I'm one of those people. :)

Wipeout is a pretty save bet, I'd say. Quantum Conundrum and Sleeping Dogs would make sense, if only because SquareEnix has been one of the biggest supporters of PS+ so far. And the selection of Vita games is not exactly huge, so the next game might as well be Lumines. As for that F1 game...who knows.

I think the list could turn out to be true, but I would rather not get Sleeping Dogs, because German PS+ users would get the shaft for the third time in a row.

Sleeping Dogs would be nuts. I really doubt it but then again it's for EU PS+. Anything is possible.

Meanwhile the devs of Foosball 2012 are in crunchtime to finish Foosball 2013 right in time for the next US PS+ update :D

SCEA getting clowned again. I want Lumines. :(

Foosball. Fucking Foosball 2012. I can't believe that.

Sucks to suck SCEA. Sucks for us too as consumers.

What's the likelyhood of my PS+ carrying over to the PS4 as well as compatibility of games? I'll reup assuming it will transfer over to the PS4 and I'll be pissed if it doesn't as it means I'd still have to keep my PS3 around.

Pretty likely since I assume they'd keep PSN for PS4.

So Chronovolt is pretty dull.

Pro tip: Win at foosball by constantly swiping your finger across the touch screen towards the goal.

PlayStation+ carrying over is extremely likely. Having PS3 PSN games working on PS4 is slim to none. Completely different architectures.

Saying it's "slim to none" is a pretty inaccurate description of the situation. It's entirely 50/50 or up in the still. Financially it'd be a fools task to miss out on the potential sales of PS3 software. We have no official comment from sony on the matter, and the hardware specs are rumored to have the bandwidth capable of emulating the hardware but at a price with maybe legacy hardware, and we do not know if sony will be able to launch affordably with it.

I think our PS3 purchases may carry over. What I think is that some content might not be compatible with PS4, but for that content, streaming will be an option. Pure speculation from my part, but I do feel it makes sense.

I've been thinking, Sony's been hammering these day 1 digital titles in really hard lately. Could the PS4 not be backwards compatible via disc, but feature the same emulation that the PS3 does with PS2 games via PSN? That way, users who purchased their games on PSN are still able to play. They'd obviously have to do something about disc people, probably Gaikai or something.

Anyone know why Lego Batman and Gotham City Imposters show up under the list but cost a combined £25 or so? EU PS Plus btw
Germany only. We didn't get Mortal Kombat even though the staff promised that all countries withing their region would always get the very same games and that Germany/Aus/NZ wouldn't get a worse deal than the other countries.

So instead of Mortal Kombat for Vita we got LEGO Batman. :D

Getting a PS4 is like getting a new laptop/desktop with the new version of an OS; it must run what games you had previously on your previous system.

That's marketing suicide. Some form of BC NEEDS to exist, even if it costs extra or is an attachment of some sort. Especially for people that actually bought those digital games. Having a digital store changes everything, you can't get away without a BC option anymore.

sounds good to me, I'd rather have had LEGO Batman than MK ;))

This. If we get to PS4 and can't use any of our PSN stuff heads will roll. Same with MS and XBL.
I mean Nintendo of all people managed to get it working (Wii mode = Wii games work and all VC/Wii ware games and you can transfer them over and all your saves).
Even if Sony and MS don't have disk based BC they need to have digital BC. Otherwise I won't be upgrading until I'm 100% done with my PS3/360 games because I won't have room to have them out along with the new ones.

Totally agree. Digital games on PSN and XBLA absolutely MUST be compatible with the next consoles. My feeling is that expectations have changed. The digital delivery systems are the platforms now. The boxes are just a gateway. They have to figure something out. Streaming, a nominal fee, a separate mode a la Wii U ... Something.

I believe MS will have more of a handle on this than Sony, although it seems like Gaikai would put Sony ahead as far as streaming goes. MS has done so well with XBLA that I will just be stunned if BC for digital games isn't built into the Nextbox.

Ah I see! Thanks both, not sure which game I'd prefer but good to know at least my PS Plus isn't broke :)

The more time I spend with the PS3 however, the more I pretty much hate it. It's quite a bit louder than my Xbox, but even worse than that are the update and install times... I just went to play the PS Plus God of War exclusive multiplayer beta, and it was going to take almost an hour to update, and I couldn't download it in the background, sorry but what? Why can't it download and install whilst I'm doing other things?!

What makes anyone think PS3 backwards compatibility is feasible anyway? People saying "Oh, they can emulate PS3 games like they do PS2 games" as though emulating PS3 games is some minor thing.

My gut says Sony's been recompiling all the stuff that's been available in the PSN in the last 2 years for both PS3 and PS4. There are few PSN games that really use the Cell in such a way that it'd be very hard to port over to the PS4, so it's totally feasible. It may even be a requirement now when submitting to PSN.
