PlayStation Plus Thread: Plus What? PLUS EVERYTHING!

looking back at the old months of PS+, I somehow hope Sony allow us to purchase PS+ subscriptions and retroactively apply them.

By doing so, we gain access to those months we have missed... that would be super duper awesome.

For example,
I like EU PS+ for February 2013.
I buy a one month code and apply it.
I get to
(1) extend my current subscription -as per normal-
(2) apply it retroactively to a select month

if I choose (2), the PS+ games of that month get added to my overall list of PS+ entitlements

This may gain Sony more sales... of PS+ don't you think?
(and you still need an ongoing subscription to enjoy those games. thus, if your PS+ expired and you choose to retroactively apply it... you still can't play those games until you extend)

do UK PSN+ subs work on other pal territories?

Yes. My primary acc is a UK one and I've used my PS3 in New Zealand and Australia. Credit cards are a problem but I just buy store credit on Ebay or sites that email UK codes.

Well, Sony isn't selling one month codes and I suspect this is part of the reason for it. They want you to buy into the service rather than to a specific game or offer. The method you're describing would also not be in Sony's or game publishers' best interest, since they almost certainly negotiate the cost of offering their wares on the service based on anticipated demand for the time period they'll be available. If demand will stretch indefinitely, prices will go up without really offering any additional incentive to remain a subscriber.

ohoh! that is why even after adding subscriptions retroactively, you need an ongoing subscription to enjoy the games. so no matter what, you need to buy into the service. this is just a way to allow users to have access to previous months of PS+

The thing is, for this to happen, Sony would have to negotiate all-new deals with every single publisher that has ever provided PS+ content. I don't think this would result in enough new PS+ subs for Sony to bother doing something like that. Plus, that's assuming that every past content provider would be interested in renewing whatever deal they had with Sony for PS+ previously.

Wouldn't it be far simpler and make a lot more sense to give a generous Plus discount to titles that have previously been free on Plus? That could easily be handled on a title-by-title basis, accomplishes the spirit of what you're asking for for the most part, and ensures the pub in question gets revenue per title sold.

But what's to stop people from, say, buying two months, getting the current months game plus a retroactive month they missed, and from then on forward simply getting a one month subscription whenever something tickles their fancy? It becomes an a-la-carte rental service that cuts into future sales potential for publishers with little incentive to remain subscribed.

I guess they could make the a-la-carte retroactive system more expensive to compensate and dissuade its use, but it just doesn't sound like a good idea for them overall.

This also offers both little incentive to remain a subscriber and is of questionable value to the publisher and Sony. Suppose, for example, that you missed out on getting, just as an example, Rochard. Now you really wanted to play Rochard, but you missed out because you allowed your subscription to expire that week and didn't resub. Sony could give you a 50% discount on Rochard if you resub, but then, wouldn't it have been better for your subscription not to have run out? Isn't avoiding missing out on their offerings the very incentive to remain subscribed? And if they allow sales to be indefinite, wouldn't that diminish the value of their weekly deals? Like offering retroactive months, it goes against their current model.

Fair points. I was forming an argument more from the point of view of handling the logisitics of such an arrangement.

How big are Vita games on average? Ordered a Vita for cheap yesterday, but still need to order a memory card. What size to hold about 3 games at once? eg. MGS, Uncharted and Mortal Kombat.

Some games are several GB so you should probably get a 16 GB memory card if you intend to have those three installed at the same time. PSP, PS1, and PSN games are generally smaller.

You need at least 16 GB for these games, and there probably won't be much space left. Uncharted is almost 4 GB, Mortal Kombat 3 gigs I think MGS Collection probably 3-4 GB.

The Vita desperately needs some larger and cheaper storage solutions. A microSDHC adapter like the one s you can get for the PSP would be perfect. Surprised one hasn't materialised yet.

Between PS+ content and the PSP games I bought for my old PSP Go I could fill a 64GB card already and the situation is only going to get worse. I hate having to juggle around storage space.

The new PS Plus content should now be live. If you can't see it in the Plus section yet, search for each game individually. Enjoy!

Seems JD2 is a Plus freebie now~
Gotta love EU PSN's timely manner.

I found

Joe Danger 2
Dead or Alive 5
and Mass Effect 3

they are all free..

but ME3 fuked up.

It shows as free , but when I put it in the basket it was full price.

Had to empty my basket and add it as a seperate purchase..

I'll add them to the basket despite having them (such ME3 and DoA 5) just in case.

Will play Joe Danger 2 for the first time and I wonder when I will finally get a Vita.

DoA5 is free? Eu psn+ now? (can't check, I'm at work)
How accessible is it? If I haven't played a fighting game in years, well except DBZ and SC games, but that doesn't count

I got 48 of the 51 trophies on Vanquish and then started downloading Darksiders. I waited a long time to subscribe to Plus, but it really is a good as everyone says.

Not necessarily + related, but there's a LOAD of ME3 DLC that's listed as free in the store.

EDIT: Ha ha there's a "Hotties Swimwear Bundle" (for DOA)

I assume it's the ME3 multiplayer dlc you guys are talking about. It was also free last week.
I've picked up:

Dead or Alive 5 Zack Island Stage
Dead or Alive® 5 First Time Pack
Mass Effect™ 3: Extended Cut
Mass Effect™ 3: Resurgence Multiplayer Expansion
Mass Effect™ 3: Earth Multiplayer Expansion
MASS EFFECT 3 - Reckoning Multiplayer Expansion
Mass Effect™ 3: Rebellion Multiplayer Expansion
Mass Effect™ 3: Retaliation Multiplayer Expansion

So yeah, looks like it.

Is that the extended cut the "fixed ending"? I assume I can play through with the original ending as well if I choose?

Nah, you can't choose between ending versions to watch. If you downloaded the extended cut, it uses that. There's absolutely no reason to watch the normal ending cut, really.

People keep saying this, but I (and consider that I haven't played any of the games yet) was pretty annoyed at the reaction and their subsequent backtracking. I want to see it as it was originally intended.

So I just won't download that DLC, thanks.

It's not really backtracking though. The actual ending of the game stays the same (if that's the "problem"). It really is an extension of the ending, it's a few scenes added in for a better flow of the ending. But I can understand wanting to see the original. I'd just recommend doing it the other way around. :)

Fair enough, I always thought that they actually changed the form of the ending rather than just spruce it up. Always planned on playing the games so was scared to delve too deep in case of spoilers.

Will still play it for the original ending, and check the extended cut out on YT.

Extended cut added one new ending and "extend" video at the end. You can download extended cut, complete it and then watch all endings on youtube, that you misses.

I have tried buying the free ME3 content but it keeps saying your not eligible for this content?

I got one of them free

EDIT:- I just downloaded the whole lot in the mass effect multiplayer collection that's why DUH!!!

Anybody else see the GoW:A free DLC? Did it download for you? When i click on it and hit confirm, nothing happens. I assume it will be 'active' once the actual game comes out or something like that.

WTF???

Just took me like 3 hours to download DOA5. I've tried to install it twice now and it's giving me an error code, saying it may be corrupted and tells me to re-download it!

Unbelievable!

If I d/l DOA5 on my EU account, will US DLC work with it from my US account? I have a preorder code for the white swimsuits but never picked up the game.

I downloaded the trial for ME3 off my EU PS+ account last week but instead of giving me an unlock code today, it's downloading the full game again. Is that normal?

That's a confusing one.

Have you actually tried playing your 60 minute trial for more than 60 minutes now that it's free on Plus, though? Maybe it will automatically allow you to play it fully?

Since the trial is the full game but actually just ends at 60 minutes of play, I'm not sure how it works. I guess you would need to maybe delete it off your PS3 and then download the now free PS+ version, even if it is technically the same game.

Maybe someone with an experience with this could help...

Yes, just start the download and cancel it. The mechanism that switches the trial to the full version (activation) occurs at the start of the download so you don't have to redownload the whole thing.

Doubtful. DLC tends to be tied to specific regions.

When do we get disgaea 3 for the US PS+? All I saw last night was Spec Ops the Line and the free Vita games.
All we know is that it's coming sometime this month. My guess would be it's coming on the 26th since that's when they're removing Plants vs Zombies.

dang I should've done this instead of waiting for the EU store to update :(

Nah, I just downloaded it so I wouldn't have to go over my bandwidth for today.
