Just downloaded Vanquish overnight (Auto download FTW!), game seems extremely kick ass so far, just made it to chapter 2. I will buy it once I beat it ^_^
 
How do I set auto download?
Settings -> Systems Settings -> Automatic Update

It won't automatically download games for you so you'll need to initiate that. If your download is still incomplete when Auto Updates kick in, it'll finish the download and install the game for you.

Does it? I just got Ps+ recently, downloaded all the free games, but none of them installed automatically (and some took hours to install, so it was a bit of a pain in the ass). Maybe because the system was on downloading all those games.

It should if you enable auto updates and your system is turned off when it's set to kick in. If you manually enable background downloads before shutting off the system (Users -> Turn off System -> turn off after downloads), it'll also install the files but it doesn't start till everything finishes downloading (you can force installs though by pausing the incomplete downloads and then shutting off the system with background downloads enabled).

Interesting, thanks. My mistake probably was the fact that I didn't have the system turn off after downloads. I'll look into it.
 
plus subscription to play vita games is alone is worth $50 a yr!!!

fyi sony, here is how to sell vita,
no need to price cut, but bundle vita with 16gb memory card and a 30 day plus trial.

-Subscribes to PS+ on Mon
-Tries to buy Journey the last day it's on sale, for $7.34
-The store goes down for maintenance for the rest of the night, unable to buy Journey
-Log in yesterday, and Journey's no longer on sale
-Call PS customer service, and after being put on hold for about 30 minutes, they tell me they can't do anything about it.
-I ask if they could at least credit $7 to my PSN wallet, or if I could talk to the department manager. The operator tells me that they'd just say the same thing.

Mind you, I didn't even know the online PSN store existed until today. Shit sucks, but life goes on I guess. Journey ;___; I'll buy you when you go on sale again, 'cause I'm being a total cheap ass atm. Ugh, what were the odds of this happening...such bad luck.

Because the price is back to $14.99?

The operator said she'd see what she could do, and then proceeded to put me on hold for 30 minutes. I felt they could have at least compensated me for the time I had to waste calling them.

Because I finally decided to subscribe to PS+ on Monday, mainly so I could capitalize on purchasing Journey before the sale ended the next day. Then the store suddenly goes down for the rest of the night, with no warning whatsoever (or at least to my knowledge). I thought it was worth a shot to give them a call, to see if they'd still honor the sale price.

No biggie, I'm not complaining or anything. Just wanted some sympathy...;_;

The Store was up for a full day before it updated last night.

Er, the maintenance was well known and advertised well in advance and the store wasn't updated almost all of Tuesday.
 
Several different ways to do that.

  • Look for a Plus game on your Media List at the SEN account management site.
  • Press triangle on a plus game n your console. Scroll down to expiration date.
  • Go to Account Management -> Transaction Management -> Services -> Plus on your console.

Weird I went to check some older games and they don't show the right expiration date when I press Triangle for info, I thought it was because I had not launched the games since adding another year of Plus, but I just tried that and it still has wrong expire date, my newer plus games have the correct date. I am not too worried though since it shows right date in my account management services for Plus.

I've heard people say it should update automatically when you launch the game after renewing, but I've never gotten it to work. I always have to manually update it by starting a new download of the copy, letting activation occur, and then canceling the download.

I hate to quote this again, but how did you feel you were entitled to a $7 credit? Or your time waiting on the phone?

Sometimes it's not a bad thing to appeal to a company's good nature. I know I've been able to snag discounts at some places because I was only a day late and just asked (heck, some places will even take coupons after the expiration date). It shouldn't be an expected behavior, no, however it certainly couldn't hurt to ask. Asking for credit because you had to wait on the phone? No.

I didn't feel like I was entitled to anything...however, I was frustrated that the store was down the whole night, and I couldn't really snag the game before the sale ended. It was one of the main reasons why I decided to sporadically subscribe. Just good practice that brings your consumers back. I don't check Sony's PSN blog regularly, nor do I play my PS3 on a daily basis, so I had no clue about the maintenance. I don't come home until 5 because I work, so the store was already updated before I could get the game.

Yeah, this is how it works, it would be nice if it auto updated the date on all current downloaded plus titles, that is; after extending your plus subscription, but it doesn't.

The games will update to the new expiration date once the old expiration date has passed. If you launch an expired game (with the old expired licence date) it will automatically renew its licence to the new expiration date.

Sony has an awesome webstore for PSN. I think you could've used that while you were gone from home.

I've tried that too only to get hit with an error that the content has expired.
 
Oh my, the DOA5 story mode is truly something else. I don't know how anyone could consider skipping the wonders on offer. The combat feels pretty nice as well - long long time since I've played a DOA (think the last one I played was 1) and enjoying it so far.

Anyone else having problems with Joe Danger 2? Found it via search but on download it turned out to only be the activation key and can't find the full game anywhere on the store at all (and the version advertised on the store gives an error message).

Have you checked your download list for the full version of Joe Danger 2? Alternatively, as you have the unlock, you should be able to download the trial and use that.

Ha ha I don't know if I'm going to make it all the way through the story mode but the way it's set up (amazing soap story for the ages cut scenes apart) is actually a really clever way of leading people through a tutorial.

It's just crazy how empty my PS3 games list looked before PS+ and how it's packed now.
Going into the store and adding ME3, DOA5 and Joe Danger 2 with a smile on my face.
I was mostly a game renter with my PS2 and old Xbox so PS+ fits perfect.
 
Started Spec Ops just a while ago and I have to say, I'm really liking it so far. Reviews say the first few hours are the worst and after it gets really good, so I'm really excited. PS- is DOA5 for Europe?
 
Yes. My primary acc is a UK one and I've used my PS3 in New Zealand and Australia. Credit cards are a problem but I just buy store credit on Ebay or sites that email UK codes.

thanks! will search for offers in UK based stores to expand my sub. I should've bought a few 3 months subs when they were cheaper :/


Hopefully Spec Ops will be available for EU PS+ too, i was waiting to pick it for cheap but it would be great to play it now that i am a subscriber
