PlayStation Plus Thread: Plus What? PLUS EVERYTHING!

It's going to be interesting which games are going to replace Infamous 2 and LBP2 since both are rather "big" first party titles. So the replacements have to be the same caliber for staying a whole year on PS+. My guess would be Uncharted 2 and a non-shooter first party game (Heavy Rain, God of War 3, Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time) or Killzone 2 / 3 and a non-shooter.

Both inFamous 2 and LittleBigPlanet 2 were only a year old when they come to PSN+. So I expect 2 games that are only a year old to be the new PSN+ games. If I had to guess it would be Twisted Metal (already on PSN and only a year old) and Killzone 3 (to promote Mercenery and Shadowfall).

Here are all the Sony published games that are on PSN
LittleBigPlanet Karting
PS Battle Royal Allstars
Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time
God of War Collection
Twisted Metal
Uncharted 2
Uncharted 3
God of War Origins Collection
Team ICO HD Collection HD
Jak HD Trilogy
Sly HD Trilogy
Ratchet HD Trilogy
Killzone 3 Multiplayer
Starhawk Multiplayer Mode
MotorStorm Apocalypse (already on PSN+)
inFamous 2 (already was on PSN+)
LittleBigPlanet 2 (already was on PSN+)
Ratchet All 4 One (already was on PSN+)
Starhawk Singleplayer (already was on PSN+)
God of War HD (already was on PSN+)

Notable games that are not on PSN (they still can add these, look at Demon Souls as an example)
Killzone 3 (singleplayer)
Resistance 3
Heavy Rain
Ratchet and Clank: A Crack in Time
God of War 3
God of War Ascension

I downloaded Okami Hd .....damn what crap ''voice'' overs Okami has.
So annoying....damn

Yeah now think about not being able to skip them.... yeah.

God I hated Okami.

I don't think the age of the games necessarily follows on. After all we are going through this change for the first time. But I'd say your suggestions in general make a lot of sense. Perhaps as well Heavy Rain for the Beyond tie in and I suppose it pushes Move too...although I doubt Sony remember much about that ;)

Heavy Rain actually would be a good choice, it pushes Move and promotes Beyond which will come later in the year. It is important to push Move as PS4 will support Move, so its a good idea for Sony to get people to buy Move controllers as PS4 doesnt come with one. I wonder if there would be a outcry if Sony had a Move exclusive as a PSN+ freebie, they probably wont get away with doing it as there main featured yearly freebie, but perhaps one of the monthly freebies is a Move exclusive game, to tempt people to get a Move.

Heavy Rain's a good suggestion, but again, I think that one is colossal in terms of size. May be able to slim that a lot with removal of language tracks, like with UC3, though.

Motorstorm Apocalypse was roughly a year old on this side of the world too thanks to the game being delayed due to natural disasters in Japan and New Zealand.

I think for "Year long" games they're more likely to choose ones with a ton of DLC to sell (like LBP is this year). That's why i think LBPK and PSASBR (with the added bonus of being able to sell other games) - who knows what the other will be.

I think they're more likely to use a God of War game or Heavy Rain or something as just a Game of The Month.

Yup, I'm with you. DLC's a big part, as is promotion. So I think Killzone like KAL said for promotion reasons, and PSASBR for DLC reasons.

But why are we saying only two games? Ratchet All 4 One has been a year long title too, hasn't it?

inFamous 2 didnt have much DLC did it?, what about Ratchet All 4 One did that have much DLC?

Really? specially with that goddess that sounds so horrible?

I hated the "voices" in Okami at first too, but once you get into the real "game" part you're able to quickly move past them, or just nearly skip them. Once I wasn't forced to listen to every syllable, I've been finding myself not skipping the dialogue at first whenever I meet a new character, so I can hear their particular take on Okami's gibberish.

Really, it didn't just rub me the wrong way at first, but I've come to really like it, especially as I've learned the idiosyncrasies of certain characters like Susan and Issun.

Maybe they just put them up because they had to offer something, and never considered how well DLC would perform got Plus games? By then it was too late to change them. Now they know. Besides they can't all be DLC related. Some are for promotion purposes

No, but I don't think they're taking ONLY that approach. I think promotion, DLC, and variety are all important in picking the year-long games. Like last time, they had a family-friendly game with a TON of DLC in LBP2, a kind of cutesy-shooter/platform with a focus on co-op, and an open-world, mature game.

I think more than DLC, their focus will be more on "Here is a game, buy the amazing new one in the series on PS4!"

That and a heavy "family" focus as they chase people looking for a low priced option to throw to the kids.

But all that might be other thinking it massively and probably a lot more thought than Sony will put into it ;)

Uncharted 3 makes the most sense to replace Infamous, since it's a more "accessible" brand than God of War (mass murder of henchmen notwithstanding) and has a popular multiplayer component, particularly if the download is around 11 GB without extra language tracks.

Agree with everyone else that LBPK and PSABR make perfect sense as the other 2 replacements.

I would have agreed with you about Uncharted 3, if they hadn't just made the multiplayer free for everyone a month or two ago.

God I hated Okami.

Me too; sorely overrated stuff. And I was one of the dozen who actually purchased it the day it came out for the Playstation 2. I was browsing the PSN store the other day and happened upon the Okami HD listing in the PS+ section. I thought about giving the game a second chance, considering y'know... it's FREE and everything. And then I started scrolling through the screenshots, and I recognised the parts of the game featured in them, and the horrible memories of forcing myself to complete the game all those years ago suddenly came back to me. If I were to ever give a presentation about how not to pace a game, I could talk about Okami for a straight hour. It's a 12 hour campaign stretched to 30+. Any chance Okami has of artificially extending its play time, it'll take it.

Fuck that game.

The sad thing is that there's so much to love about the game despite the pacing issues. I played through it on PS2 and it was a genuinely gorgeous game with refreshingly original combat mechanics and an intriguing premise. It just needed someone to realize how tedious the massive text walls and repetition could make it.

Ultimately I'd still say it's a worthwhile experience for a new gamer. I haven't seen the HD version, but I imagine it's even more beautiful and Move support should be cool too. One just needs to be ready for the flaws as well.

Final predictions. I expect the big E3 year long PSN+ games to be
Killzone 3 (to promote Mercenery and Shadowfall)
LittleBigPlanet Karting (lots of DLC, family friendly)
Playstation Allstars Battle Royal (DLC and promoteds multiple IPs)

Last Years 12 month PSN+ freebies were:
inFamous 2
LittleBigPlanet 2
Ratchet and Clank All 4 One/MotorStorm Apocalypse (US/EU)

For Vita I expect in TGS, Uncharted, WipeOut and Gravity Rush to be replaced by:
Playstation Allstars Battle Royal (this is added automatically due to PS3 version)
LittleBigPlanet Vita (lots of DLC and family friendly)
Hot shots Golf (lots of DLC and family friendly)

EDIT: changed my suggestions

I'd be very surprised if the PS3 All-Stars at E3 wasn't cross-buy, leaving an extra slot come Vita time. Largely because I don't think there's actually a PS3-only version of All-Stars even listed on the Store (there is a Vita-only version though).

Karting makes even more sense if it's coming to Vita this year as rumoured too.

Surely that's also true of Killzone 3, which is something else people were suggesting.

Yes, but the difference is there are two Killzone games to promote later this year. Maybe they'll go with Killzone 2 instead of 3, as that is the preferred game it seems anyway. I'd love to see Twisted Metal (if it even works yet?), but I'm not sure if they'd put two dark, violent games as the freebies.

PSASBR is a lock, I think.

I'ma say Killzone 2, PSASBR, and Sly 4.

No epic story-driven adventure to replace Infamous 2? Impossible. It might be Uncharted, or Killzone, or (unlikely but still possible) God of War 3, but at least one of the games has to be a story-driven affair, I suspect.

True. Forgot about that. I'm still skeptical they'll offer any God of War game.

Well, they did have the original GoW HD on there for a couple of weeks as part of what was presumably part of an effort to give Ascension a healthy promotion. I don't think there'd be any reason for them to put, say, GoW3 or another of the HD versions on there, so I agree in that sense.

Could kinda see the vanilla version of Uncharted 3 coming in to replace inFamous 2. Personally I'd prefer something like Heavy Rain, it seems more of a unique game and purely on a selfish level have no desire to play Uncharted 3 just yet. I'm not sure what LBPK on there would accomplish, sadly. Is there much DLC for it? Does it tie in with existing LBP creations?

Whatever they come up with I've been happy with the service. Looking forward to Virtue's Last Reward, and I haven't even started the MGS HD collection. I'll try Okami HD soon, too.

I think it's too early for Sly 4. I already have it too so it isn't something I want to see, maybe as a monthly later on in the year.

I would love a cross buy PSASBR. I think that's pretty much a lock at this point. Do not want LBP Karting.

I don't have an issue with the Okami voices since it invokes a mythical long gone era, so their language would sound strange to the listener.

I do think we should consider the possibility that Sony won't do some huge switch like they did last year. They've already deviated from that plan, to our great joy I suspect, by offering like five games every month. It wasn't supposed to be like this.

What do you guys think the chances are Sony will add Black Ops 2 to PS+? Or do you think that would be a waste for them to do since Black Ops 2 is really popular and basically everyone has it?

Because i have no idea what the third one might be, lol.

Seeing that the lowest BO2 ever was during a Steam sale was a 33% discount, and that every PS3 owner would already have the game by now, I'd say very very slim.

Oh I think the May fighting game for US Plus is gonna be MvC Origins~

Activision are so snuggly with MS for CoD the chances of them using it as an incentive for people to join Sony's rival service are close to zero.

I hope Sony gives me my $40 they owe me so I can use it in their Spring sale this week (also hope that list is released today and not tomorrow)! :/

If there is a Spring sale this week, you should get the money in time. They said on or before 12 April, which is Friday.

This week's poll mentions discount for Guacamelee, but they don't mention anything about it in the blog post.
Great if true tho.
