Playstation Store is garbage

Seriously does anyone at Sony care about their fucking store?

Every week I go to new releases to see and wishlist stuff.
For some time now, when you open a game page and go back, it sends you on the top of the list. If I check 10 games, I have to scroll down 10 times to get back were I was.
I thought ok they will fix it anytime now but no! Still broken.

Then you have:
- a flood of shit games that wouldn't stand as free to play in mobile phones stores. Seriously how many simulator games can you stomach?

-tags that are in the game but when you search them you get no results

-filters that include stuff that should not

-and what the hell with the stupid game pages?
I select a game and get to the payment button (oh maybe I will click by mistake? Smart)
and have to scroll down for pictures, again down for the useless ratings screen, again down for versions/dlc and finally down for the description that has to be opened in a window as it won't fit in all the mess.

Browsing this shit is a horrible experience and im convinced they are losing millions of revenue.

I don't believe im saying this but Nintendo is light-years ahead of this. Every time I open the Switch store it is a fun time and almost always I end up buying something.

Unreal incompetence.

Lol this is going to go well (thundering of hooves in the distance)

On PS4 the store is all but unusable it would constantly hang with the spinning ps logos. If you managed to get in it would even shit the bed when you paid for your games with it hanging as it returns you back to the main page leaving me to have to check my emails to even check if I had been charged.

Had to buy pretty much everything via the phone app or just use the website version of the store then send the purchases to my console to download.

Im assuming sony upgraded the hamster they had running the PS4 servers to at least a dozen this time.

You can always join us, OP.

Yes its shite.

The wishlist is broken, often when there's a sale I open the wish list to see what I can get and all I see are 404-esque broken icons.

If you select a broken item on the wishlist a handful of games will then display correctly but we're talking 6 random games on a list of 100.

You're not wrong, and yeah, even the Nintendo eShop handles this better : the ability to apply proper search filters makes a big difference.

Back when I had my NS2, I especially liked the "more from this developer/publisher" option where you could just click on the dev or publisher on a game's page and instantly see their entire catalog without having to search manually.
Such a simple feature, but a huge QoL improvement in my opinion.

I've been using psprices for several years now, there are some advanced filters (including skipping any DLC's or shady publishers), wishlist works great, pretty much no complaints.

Now imagine not deleting the shovelware and IA clonic games, have loot boxes, auctions with packs of games with "some over 85% in MC" and you get showelware with two critics in MC, pay for unfinished games to beta test them and so on.

Steam is really the only the store thats good at getting players to the games they need.

Literally all other stores are shite. Ns store crawls to a snails pace after a couple of pages. MS store feels like a mobile store but worse. Sony Store is like navigating a maze.

Then PC launchers get even worse. EGS will constantly restart and update and has 0 QoL features. Ubisoft connect is like a slug on fire and the less said about EA play app the better

Always has been slow and cluttered. I was so happy when I could finally buy stuff online as the webshop is way more performant. I buy digital switch games using the browser for the same reason.

I'm a biased PC gamer, the stores on PS and Xbox are fucking awful, the UI is horrible, it's so shitty to navigate, i hate them so much.

Even on the PS4 the store was fucking laggy and horrible.

Part of the reason why i'll never buy a digital only console.

Yeah that "bug" where it's sending you to the top of the page after clicking on a game is infuriating. Stopped looking at the latest sale because of it, I cba scrolling back to where I was each time.

I had to manually change my DNS server for the PS5 because it was soooo ultra slow. No other device in my network had any issues but somehow the PS servers were routed badly over my ISP standard DNS. Now everything's blazingly fast.

But yeah, the amount of shovelware and lack of proper tags and search filters seems like the whole system is for casuals only.

Are you a Deutsche Telekom customer by any chance? :D

If so it is Telekom that is messing up here and not Playstation. Had the same problem. Google DNS fixed it.

Yes this is a bug in the recent update that's also been pissing me off.

Ironically I had our dev fix the same shitty UX in one of the apps we're building pretty much at the same time as the issue appeared on ps store 🤣

Hopefully they fix it soon as they'll as it's very annoying, I have to imagine it's also losing them a lot of sales as it breaks browsing, so I'm surprised it's been going on for this long

Yup... It's totally garbage. I have been a PS gamer most of my life, and even I can't navigate the store with any form of familiarity.

I think they need to get rid of whoever is in charge of the store, but how crap the store is also tells me one thing: neither the people who manage it, nor the people who are supposed to manage them, actually use the store themselves.

Yeah nothing worse than backing out of the game page to find you're back at the top of the list. It's such an obvious flaw that I can only imagine it's due to some allocated memory limitation or something.

Scrolling back to the top of a page when going back is the mark is poor design that doesn't consider the user experience in this day in this day and age. It's not like it's a brand new idea, it's been around for a long time and we're talking about the store of a walled garden.

If the trajectory of old PS3 store to new PS3 store is any indication it's probably an janky and stuttery unusable mess that focuses more on trying to be flashy and modern than being usable.

There should be one fucking button to disable all those shit indie, AI, bullshit games from the store.

Does nothing and wins.
I know you're just shitpost memeing, but it's one of the areas they actively make improvements in. You get all sorts of links and warnings and useful information, player reviews and review aggregates in both short and long term (and in both your native language and other languages), and then there's the other features they develop like the personalised release calendar. For all the talk of the shovelware, I don't tend to see that much of it now.

ya it's bad , I used to filter for new releases every Tue before it got flooded with preorder/just announced BS , now even when I put a filter on "just released" it only gives me a month worth of new games ... dude I just wanna infinity scroll down by release date , they need to just put out a pre-order section like back in the day . They're the sales going on and I don't have the patience of it keep resetting .. so annoying

I use the store on the app and have no problems. I don't remember the last time I bought a game or browsed the store on the console.

Someone got their project helix care package.

Jokes aside, I use the beta app on my phone and honestly rarely use to store on the ps , unless I'm bored.

Playstation Store is garbage. Took them like years just to add the favorite page, and I guess is exclusive to PS5. PS4 users can't use.

Yes, and I have stopped buying games or browsing it since it's so disappointing.

The most horrible problem they STILL haven't fixed is their localization with low quality auto-translation and the FORCED TRANSLATION YOU CAN'T CHANGE TO ORIGINAL ENGLISH PERMANTELY.
Whenever I change storefront language to English IT DOESN'T KEEP IT BUT CHANGES BACK TO TRANSLATED LOCAL LANGUAGE WHENEVER I RESTART APP.
Same for mobile app and PS5.

LET ME HAVE ENGLISH STOREFRONT PERMANENTLY PLEASE!

And get rid of all the shovel ware please!

Steam is also crap, full of shovelware, auctions, beta tests, bad visibility except for the 2 or 3 games popular right now .. If you know what you are looking for you find it easy, but if you know what you are looking you also find it easy on PSN.

Have you ever heard of something called a filter system? Don't want EA games showing up? Just block them. Don't want low-quality games showing up? Just filter it out. It's not that hard, put in a little effort and you can fix like 90% of your issues with Steam.

And bad visibility for games? There's a category called Popular New Releases, which features recently released games that are well received by the community. There are also upcoming games based on what you play, recently released games based on what you play, the most wishlisted games by the community, etc.

The original PSN store was great. They then decided to make it worse, and worse and worse.

Ahead of the curve on that one, seem like making the UI worse is the big thing around the internet right now. Youtube has been a shitshow for the past few months making it impossible to properly search.

Laughing at those claiming Steam is just as bad. No it fucking isn't. Steams discoverability tools, filtering, and tagging are so much better than anything else there that despite probably having twenty times and much crap as other stores it's remarkably easy to discover and find exactly what you want.

The PSN store can look nice, but Sony can put far more work into it.

Is OP talking about the store on console or the web?

I never use the console store for either Xbox or PS, very unruly to navigate through long pages like that. The web stores make things a lot easier.

Weird. Mine works great. If I want a game, I type in the first few letters and then it pops up. Push "X" a few times and then I'm playing the game a few minutes later.

I thought it was the only decent one out of the consoles. Xbox and Nintendo's are far worse.

The Playstation Store and the rest of their digital ecosystem is garbage. But to be fair, their competition also has shit ecosystems, so there's no incentive to improve.

hey, it's an improvement from the PS3 days at least... I think you'd get an aneurysm if you had to use that god awful PS3 store today.

but it is indeed astonishingly bad
