PlayStation VR Thread 2: Reloaded

Great idea. The only one I would add to the list is WIndlands under the Platform genre.

Windlands would be a good game but it was nausea city for me. Couldn't stand more than a few minutes. Luckily I don't have any problems with Superhot, so it's mostly the movement that does it, rather than the perspective.

Its always going to be case by case basis for everyone just as FPS and racing games are for standard gaming when it comes to nausea. If you can handle intense games with unbridled movement and like platforming, heights, exploration and mechanics to master it is a great little game.

Started playing Superhypercube and GNOG today. The first is insanely hard but I kept coming back, managed to fluke a 500 score after getting like 150 a bunch of times.

GNOG is really, really charming. Reminds me a lot of Statik. Looks like it'll be pretty short though.

Congratulations!

There are free demos of Rush of Blood and Statik; can't go wrong with them. There's a COD-themed space fighter 'demo' as well that's free.

RE7 is outstanding, but could cause some motion sickness until you get your 'VR legs'.
Dirt Rally VR is great. It can be found cheap, but it's a tough simulation racer, so it depends if that's your taste.

Polybius is a mandatory purchase. Puts a big dumb smile on my face every time I play it.

Thanks!

I got Rush of Blood, Statik, Superhot VR and Wayward Sky for now. Dirt Rally isn't my cup of tea, but REVII I'll get for sure. I'll wait for a good deal since I've already finished it earlier this year (non-VR).

So my PSVR is coming in the mail today. I still need to buy the move controllers (2 right?) but I'm wondering how many of the game use the aim controller or can I skip out on that for now?

Released:
Farpoint
Dick Wilde
Arizona Sunshine
Brookhaven Experiment
Delivery Boy

Upcoming:
Dimension Hunter (very soon)
ChromaGun (still in development, but coming up nicely, this is the portal-like game, extremely well reviewed)
Honor and Duty (coming soon too but this is not the best game)
Rom Extraction (coming this fall)
Special Forces VR (long way to go)
Bravo Team (from Until Dawn dev, coming this fall)

Planned:
Demon Grade (long way to go)
Seeking Dawn (not 100% confirmed for PSVR but Sony approached them and they've always actively talk about PSVR support in the community)

If you have the money and manage to find one, definitely grab it. Or else just wait. It will REALLY improve your gaming experience, but I would say Move is much more important since 70-80% of the game uses it.

Finally put on and tried the headset for myself today (sister and dad had played around with it previously), and one thing I never really expected to happen was that I'd get sensation in my hips of all places. Best I can figure is that my mind expected me to be walking and and was sending signals to my legs to act accordingly.

I forgot how fun Surgeon Simulator can be (when it's not being frustrating). The purposely-bad controls the game was built with just don't always translate too well into VR motion controls, but the game can be quite fun anyway.

Do any psvr games do asynchronous multiplayer like the playroom vr does? I hear tumblr has a mode - anything else do it?

I think it's great and it's a shame more party games don't exist - the wii u had some great games that used the second screen and the psvr could at the very least do some of the same stuff they did (i.e psvr player has to hide from the on screen players - etc)

Arkham

The Amiga Brotherhood
Just picked up my Pro and PSVR last night, transfered everything over from my primary PS4, and tried VR for about an hour.

Holy shit, better than expected.

BUT... How can I disable my speakers, which are through my receiver, and use only my headphones?

I instinctively muted my receiver volume but then my headphones were muted too. (They're wired through the PSVR cable.)

Edit: N/M, figured it out. ;)

bloody zombies will have co-op between 1 vr headset wearer and 3 others on the couch....keep talking and nobody explodes is a good one already out

Pixel gear apparently does but I haven't tried it. I believe one player shoots and the other controls monsters or something like that.

The black border thing that fills half the screen in "Here they lie" when you move the analog is annoying as fuck, atleast give the option to turn it off with smooth turning still on dammit!

Sorry... what about it do you want explained?

Multiple cars onscreen im assuming.

I just played it for the first time yesterday and I totally agree! I don't intend playing it again. It was super stressful.

You would probably like "keep talking and nobody explodes". One player wears the headset, the other players walk him through disarming the bomb.

Yeah, I started Here They Lie yesterday, and turned that off immediately. The game seems pretty great, but I wish I could disable the character starting to turn as I turn my head. I kept looking around at the environment while walking, and would end up walking the wrong way!

I find this to be a problem in a lot of VR games. As always, the more options the better.

Yeah I have played it, the non VR players are assigned a monster shape for an amount of time and the VR player has to try to shoot them but is penalised for shooting the wrong monster. It's ok, more fun when drunk!

I think this is a great idea. Though I'm sure you will be asked to add rez infinite and the London heist. Maybe have some symbol denoting move/aim support/requirements? Definitely something we could put in the OP.

I had a lot of trouble with the final level of Rush of Blood, even on normal. It took me ages to clear it, the instant death orbs were so annoying. Such a big difficulty jump compared to the other levels. I loved the game in general, but I don't think I'll replay that level again, even though the visuals of the boss were some amazing VR.

It's already in the OP though, just scroll down to "already released games" link :p

Whoops, didn't see this before I posted, sorry!

I'd add Superhypercube to the Puzzle section (atmospheric spacial awareness puzzler), and Starblood Arena to FPS (being a fan of 6DoF like descent).

I'm right there with you lol. The instant death shit is for the birds. Great game, but that is frustrating.

On easy sometimes it's still be really hard, like the
ghost/heart
boss, but sometimes it'll be easy as you'd expect. Even in the same encounter it seems. Weird.

Hmm, I don't seem to remember having any problems with Rush of Blood on normal... I think I died twice during the whole campaign (one was definitely during the final boss though).

Need to do another playthrough and find all the secrets!

For me it was only the final level, rest was easy. I even did well for most of the waves there, but getting the weak point too late on the tentacle gives you an instant death orb that you can't avoid, very frustrating if you get that during the final wave before a new checkpoint.

I'm replaying the levels now on insane, which doesn't feel like a big difficulty spike. But not touching the final level again though.

I was playing Windlands a bit today and it occurred it'd be fun to have a simple, multiplayer combat game in this world where I was shooting or punching opponents in addition to grappling and swinging. Does being in VR make multiplayer games more difficult to develop? Why aren't we seeing more of them?

^^ I've only seen a video of Windlands, but I don't see why multi-player would be difficult. I was actually thinking how amazing a Bionic Commando game would be... C'mon Capcom.

You're right, my bad. I do like the short list of GAF recommended with the genre breakdown though. Is "popular" an equivalent to recommended, or just that it's been often bought?

Probably just because it's a niche market inside of a niche market for a niche market, unfortunately. Multiplayer VR has crazy potential. It's like a barrier is lifted.

The problem is the small userbase - online PvP stuff like Starblood and Smashbox are apparently really struggling for players, so much so that YouTube channels are trying to coordinate certain days to play each game to get the numbers up. I think there's only Eve doing ok and that's cross platform which helps.

It's pretty much the same, I just changed it to shorted the character count because now and then I run out of space to add info to the OP.

Watch this press event show a bunch of indie games and maybe one or two VR games, then the community breaks down and say PSVR is dead.

This is pretty cool, VR vs TV. Finally they are utilizing the VR properly.
Robot vs. Kaiju! TV vs. VR! Settle the score once and for all in this FREE PlayStation VR add-on mode for 100ft Robot Golf.

Kaiju Driving Range allows a robot golfing player on your TV to compete against a Playstation VR controlled Kaiju player in the same room, in real time! The robot's goal is to do sick golf shots at the NGBL Driving Range. The Kaiju? Be a huge jerk and stop the robot golfer using your PlayStation Move-controlled Kaiju Pincers and the surrounding skyscrapers.

Clever!! I'm always down for more asymmetrical multiplayer VR games. Has anyone played the base game? How is the VR mode?
