I want to watch this but don't know how long I last. Lex is my kryptonite. I dunno why but his pauses, like he is trying to gather his thoughts, are too frequently and too frequently it seems like he's just doing it because he thinks it makes him appear more intelligent.

His mannerisms are exactly like some of the boys I knew when I was in computer science in college. Conversations took twice as long and eye contact was kryptonite. I switched majors after a year because I realized I'd be working in this environment the rest of my life.I want to watch this but don't know how long I last. Lex is my kryptonite. It is scientifically proven that listening to John Carmack talk elicits the same mental euphoria as an orgasm.I like John but I don’t think I can invest that much time into something that’s not going to lead to sex.
It’s amazing how energized Carmack still is. I’m like 15 years his junior and I just feel tired all the time.
I've tried multiple times with Fridman but I just can't listen to him.
The first time I read Snow Crash, I was like pfft, this author is just describing Second Life. Then I looked at the original publishing date and realized that I am an idiot.I was flipping through the making of Doom 3 book the other day. There's a long Carmack interview in the final section talking about the engine. The interviewer asks him about the future - this was when id Tech 4 was still unreleased.
Carmack's prediction is spot on: the generation coming after id Tech 4 will improve various rendering aspects across the board, and the next generation will be used in commercials and TV. That's exactly what happened.
It might read like a Captain Obvious prediction now, but remember how hard Crytek and Valve tried to make their engines a thing in the movie and animation industries? Then around 2015 Unreal 4 took off, first for real time previs and then as the tool for all those LED screens in The Mandalorian, The Batman, Bullet Train etc.
