So I installed some fucking streaming-video downloading program. it was for Real files, and apparantly I need Realplayer for the program to work, which I dont' have. Whatfuckingever. So the thing installs, and all of a sudden reboots my computer. Now Windows wont' come up except under safe mode. If I try to bring it up under regular mode, the screen just goes blank and nothing happens. What the hell do I do? How does this "system restore" shit work?

Go into safe mode, and uninstall the program that fucked everything up. Then remove its entry from the registery manually.

System restore changes your computer to one of it last save points, most likely before you installed that program. to use it click on start, my computer , control panel, performance and maintence, then system restore, if you are using xp. Then just choose the date to restore too.

ok, I guess system restore worked. It didn't seem to work on the first reboot, though....i guess it just needs to be rebooted again, or something.

Oh mate, that's shit.
Use safe mode and remove the software.
Check to see if it's in the system tray. If so, right click if can't just uninstall it and make sure it's not got any weird boot config.
