My X360 controller has probably got to be one of if not the most ergonomically sound controllers I've ever used. It's so damn comfortable, and everything just feels right. Looking at pics of the PS3 controller, it's gonna be quite a burden IMO going from that to the X360 controller when I play them....

Also I happened to come across this pic... and allz I gotsta say is dear god change it!!!!!! Not only does it look like ass and look like it'll feel like ass, but it has to be that fucking small as well??? Talk about cramped hands, and tiny little analog nubs...

It looks even to small for the Japanese (no offense)....

3rd party save me!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have you played with it? Do you know its final?
No?
Fuck off.

Oooooh, looks like I struck a nerve, it's okay, have a cookie. I know you're crying inside.

The 360 controller is awesome, but it feels like it has two GC Z-buttons on it and that live button is way too big. Maybe I'm just a n00b casual gamer, but at Gamestop I kept confusing it with the start button.

The PS3 pad may look stupid, but so what? So does the Wavebird. It might be really comfortable, we don't know yet.

They've also said it won't have any real fundamental changes from what was shown.

From the new OPM

Hirai - That was a prototype. Kutaragi-san ran tall order past the designers. We've had two consoles, basically same design. So we want a fresh approach. We're going to look at form factor, but it has got to feel familiar. It's a difficult balance. But it's definitely a work in progress. We want to make sure when it's in your hands, it's familiar.

I don't mean this in a bad way or anything... but why on earth would this make you so angry?

Cause I hurt his fanboy feelings. Hurting anything Sony = hurting him as well apparently....

How about you wait until you actually have a chance to hold it before drawing all of these conclusions?

DS2 wasn't that amazing either so Im glad they're trying something new. Could be better than it looks.

Agreed, X360 controller really is very good. If there's one thing MS has done right with 360 so far it's the controller. Good contender for the best the pad ever..

Well, he's just drawing conclusions on how it looks, not on how it feels. It looks ugly, but it might feel great; I've known plenty of women like that :)

BTW, oops, i meant to add while im drunk it feels good... so in other words how it looks is how its going to feel baby!

I hope so. If not I think I'll have to be forced to buy 4 3rd party controllers. I was giving it the benefit of the doubt with design earlier, but having it that small as well just gives me huge doubts.

The person who posted the thread probably has no intention of actually ever using a PS3 controller, and I hardly think telling him rightfully to "fuck off" is a sign I'm really angry. But as V said. LOL Sonybot LOL.

Yep, that controller doesn't look very appealing but well keep in mind they had that patent problem and they had to show something fast.

Lets not get ahead of ourselves. :lol The gc controller is better if you put it that way. MS again messed up on some buttons and there is no need for triggers. The controller isnt as nice to hold as the GC or DS2 controller.

The only problem I have with the PS3 controller and the DS2 is the analog sticks. Placement is not a problem, it's just the style of the sticks. I would prefer them curved inward or to have notches.

With that said, you can't comment on the controller until you have held it and played with it extensively. Just because it has an odd shape doesn't mean you can ride it off as uncomfortable.

Yeah that's my one beef with the 360 controller, the L/R buttons (not triggers) are awkwardly placed. Luckily they aren't used all that much. It does give you that "reaching" feeling when you go to press them...which kinda sucks.

This comes up a lot, but why would patent issues relating to the internal implementation of rumble affect the "external" design, the casing etc?

I agree... and the way I figure it [on the ps3 i mean]. I can probably just find an adapter for the x360 pad to work on the PS3... since functionally speaking, they are pretty much the same (afaik so far).

This will mean I can play on my PC, Xbox 360 and PS3 with the same gamepad... that's will be nice.

And again, that's assuming I won't like the PS3 pad. I may end up loving it. I just figure worst case scenario, I'll find a way to get the delicious 360 pad to work on it and be golden.

ok.. i thought of backing him up but i digress

He's just being a prick hahah

obviously i didnt read carefully enough anyways

I did say "looks like" it'll feel like ass.

I didn't outright say it will be, so I am basing it on observations...

backup reinstated??? :D :D

C'mon dude, You said "Not only does it look like ass and look like it'll feel like ass," I can't backup someone so detrimental to something they havn't tried out. I don't like hypocrites, cause I bet you've seen a picture of something that looks good before and said wow I bet that feels good (and maybe it ended up feeling bad?).

EDIT: After seeing the next reply, I can finally see that I was wrong about the whole situation. He's right, even IMO it looks like a crappy controller :), but I'm not saying it's going to be crappy feeling.

I really don't see the problem there. He's saying it LOOKS like it will feel like ass, not that it WILL feel like ass (definitive). I don't really see what he said there that bad. Hell, we speculate on all kinds of things (games) on GAF before we get to play them... it's not uncommon to speculate a game "looks like it won't be fun" or whatever.

::shrug::

Triggers are a good thing. Im not saying the 360 controller is perfect but it's as close as any. DS2 has a good shape but the analog sticks are loose and not in optimal place.. Never liked Sony's d-pads either.

The japanese Saturn controller is still probably my personal favorite.

Sony simple didnt focuse on making it better. Symmetric analog sticks - CHECK. No analog triggers - CHECK. Worthless analog face buttons- CHECK. Subpar D-pad - CHECK. The worst offender is still no analog triggers... If they had them, I could of had maybe enjoyed it.

I don't understand so because the controller looks 'ugly' it needs a redesign, that controller could be the most comfortable controller ever and it's getting slammed because it looks ugly not because it's uncomfortable

:lol

Whoa!

Nevertheless to say, I couln't disagree any more. No need for triggers? And you honestly are putting the mediocre GCN controller against it with a straight face? Ugh... that controller has serious issues imo.

wtf you mean no need for triggers? damn strait you need triggers =/ ....and then you throw in that the DS2 is more confortable than the 360 controller? ....now i just KNOW your on crack.

It is very wrong to judge this controller before you use it, but it is very right to talk about how great of a game Metal Gear Solid 4 is before you play it.
