C'mon dude, You said "Not only does it look like ass and look like it'll feel like ass," I can't backup someone so detrimental to something they havn't tried out. I don't like hypocrites, cause I bet you've seen a picture of something that looks good before and said wow I bet that feels good (and maybe it ended up feeling bad?).

Oooooo that's how it is..... :( We coulda been something man, We was this || close man.... Now it's all over.......

Anyway, I was basing it all on observations, and from what I observe, this thing is gonna cramp the hell outa my hands. Nobody's hands should be that close together on a controller.

And as shpankey said, how is my observations any differnt than tons of you guys bashing games all the time from screenshots and vids without ever playing them?? And I'm the hypocrite....

It is very wrong to judge this controller before you use it, but it is very right to talk about how great of a game Metal Gear Solid 4 is before you play it.

You're really bitter about the praise the Metal Gears get aren't you?

Hirai - That was a prototype. Kutaragi-san ran tall order past the designers. We've had two consoles, basically same design. So we want a fresh approach. We're going to look at form factor, but it has got to feel familiar. It's a difficult balance. But it's definitely a work in progress. We want to make sure when it's in your hands, it's familiar.

when he says familiar i think he means familiar as in it feels like a controller period not familiar as in like the old PS controllers.

:lol are f'n serious? MGS4 is gonna get praised to heaven and back because the series is universally known to deliver the goods.

the controller on the other hand is totally different story.

I hate being in the same threads as you SolidSnakex... :lol ::urge to FAP rising::

For the love of God man... I have to post with my left eye closed when I'm around you... :D

Well, most posters, myself included, are praising the concepts and mainly the graphics. Also, Metal Gear is known to deliver gameplay-wise so the praise is justified. Especially when looking at the progress made by MGS 3 and Subsistence.

Well actually Tenacious, I changed my entire opinion again: it seems like your view about the controller being ugly is the same as mine, So I agree with you. hhahhaah

Run a search. This is a biweekly thread topic, apparently. The constant retread over something that honestly can't be decided without a hands-on demo is tedious. Why click on the thread? Morbid curiosity. I'm not mad, just thought I'd explain why some people won't take this very well. It keeps popping up, and the threads all end the same way. Someone bitches, someone points out that looks mean fuck all for ergonomics, then it just descends into another circle-jerk over whatever favorite controller people have. PEACE.

I'll agree, but I didn't like MGS2 half as much as MGS or MGS3. Probably cause Raiden... the most horrible character ever, it woulda actually been better if I knew I HAD to use Raiden and Snake was dead. But he wasnt! :(

Possibly, but from what he's said and what Harrison has said its not going to be the same controller as this. Hirai even recently said that Kutaragi won't even let him hold this controller and whenever its demoed its always demoed with the DS2.

Out of the three MGS games, I would rank MGS 2 below MGS and MGS 3 as well, but that is not really saying much because I love Metal Gear immensly. MGS 2 was a large leap over MGS and while MGS 3 wasn't as large of a leap over MGS 2, it still had significant upgrades.

Although I am not too fond of Raiden either, he's not that bad of a character. The MGS 4 announcement trailer definitely makes me like him more. :lol I wouldn't mind having to play as him again, as long as I still play as Snake for the majority of the game.

QFT.

Sony fanbots are infamous for their selective logic.

what selective logic are you talking about? praising MGS4? I mean I'm sure Xbots will praise Halo 3 once the game is shown even without playing Nbots has praised TP and it hasn't come out yet, I don't know what the fuck are you talking about good series get praised for a reason.

Why does anyone gets upset over this? If the controller ends up sucking for you, just buy a 3rd party adater and plug your old DS2 or X360 pad or whatever you prefer. Doesn't seem that difficult considering that PS3 controller seems functionally indentical.

Ourumov, I don't think the controller redesign has anything to do with that lawsuit. That had only to do with rumble function, and not the shape of the controller, and as far as I know that lawsuit is still not completely resolved (and even if it was, Sony is still selling DS2s like nothing ever happened)

Hell, some of them are praising it to hell and back right now. Especially after that odd script leak.

There are many factors that lead to praising or hyping a game. Actual play time with it does not necessarily have to be one of them.

Call Batman someone stole his Bat-arang!

seirously its not final so who cares. sony arent that big of idiots that they coudl ignore all this anti-bat-arang uproar

Precisely. I mean aren't well respected and recieved games always get more praise and attention from the get go anyway? For decades in the gaming world? WTF is different this time, selective logic....looks like it hit alright....

Yeah he looks cool now, but come on man... he was horrible in MGS2. Even his voice made me cringe. UGH.

hahah sweet!! :lol :lol

As for the people getting all pissy. wtf for?? It's not like I'm telling you all what to think. I think it looks like ass, and from the ratio of hand to controller from the pic, it's to small as well. For me, it looks like it'll be garbage, I'm not telling anyone else to think it's garbage as well. It's my observation.

Well, I mainly like Raiden now because Snake throws him off an edge in that announcement trailer. :lol

The most annoying aspect of Raiden was his voice and his stupidly innane conversations with his girlfriend. Arghh, so agonizing.

Don't get me wrong, MGS 2 is still one of my favorite games of this generation and Raiden is not all that bad to play with; it's just his damn character that I can't stand. If he was a more appealing character, I wouldn't mind playing as him as oppossed to Snake in Sons of Liberty.

My X360 controller has probably got to be one of if not the most ergonomically sound controllers I've ever used.

i disagree.. the GC controller is still the most comfortable controller i have ever used.. the side angles of the 360 controller is still a bit off..

i also dont understand how people can bash the ps3 controller when they havent tried it yet?? why dont we wait and give them the benefit of the doubt?

It will be finalized when Nintendo reeveals everythign about their controller.

No doubt. That's why Nintendo keeps its world altering ideas so well hidden, like the now industry standard 'clicking' analogue triggers.

You mean just like the Revmote, Amir0x? :P That's even worse in terms of damnation than this.

True enough, but I haven't seen a recent thread made specifically to ask Nintendo to change the controller so I can't lock these hypothetical threads!

Although it is a bit different, re: revolutionary vs. traditional
