Can I just play Black 2 or should I play Black as well?
You can technically play them independently but unlike most third versions, Black 2 and White 2 are actual follow-ups to the plot from the first one.

I am in the market for one new 3DS Pokemon game. I'd like to try and get back in.
Which of the following is considered the best?
X
OmegaRuby
Sun/UltraSun
For context I played Gen 1, 2, and 3 when they first came out and haven't played anything after Emerald except for HeartGold.
Get X. For many that's actually what pulled them back to Pokemon whereas SM pushed them away due to the whole narrative shit.

XY > SM > BW > ORAS
Though you could wait two months and get the definitive (?) version of Gen VII.
Cerulean Gym sure did change.

thank youI will not stand for Bw being behind xy and S&M
thank you
You have good tasteB/W absolutely destroy X/Y and S/M. They're not even close for me. While the core gameplay mechanics may have gotten better in the 3DS games, and I like some of the new Pokemon, I vastly prefer pretty much everything else in B/W. Story, campaign, music, region... etc.
XY > ORAS >>> BW > SM
And I say that while thinking Emerald shits all over ORAS, too.
Kalos was a gorgeous region with fantastic new Pokemon designs, tons of QOL improvements and a story that didn't get in the way and just allowed me to do what I like most in Pokemon: explore the world and raise a team of new Pokemon that I like.
It seems totally at odds with BW & SM, which is probably why it gets so much hate from people who like Gen V and VII's take on Pokemon.
I think describing SM's story as 'small' is a bit disingenuous lol. It's excruciatingly prominent throughout the entire adventure. That's fine for those who can stomach the story and its' characters, but I don't think 'deal with it' is the right response for everyone else when it has clearly been pretty divisive. A compromise is needed. Also, most Pokemon campaigns take like a week and you can spend unlimited time raising Pokemon then, having to go through a small story once so that other people can enjoy the campaign more is a small price to pay, I gotta say deal to that, especially since it's not like XY didn't have a campaign, they just had a really shitty one.
Cerulean Gym sure did change.
I've been playing Yellow in prep for the release of Gold/Silver VC, and some of the back sprites are really messing me up, especially Charmeleon. I would've liked to have had to changed like they did the the front sprites. Other than that, the game is very charming, despite its age.
By the same metric:Favorite mons rankings time
Favorite mons rankings time
Gen 6 > Gen 1 > Gen 7 > Gen 5 > Gen 4 > Gen 3 > Gen 2
Mine is pretty much based on number of mons that I actually want to use during the game. Gen 2 and 3 I struggle to find mons from that gen that I want to use on my team during the playthrough.
By the same metric:
Gen 6 > Gen 1 > Gen 3 > Gen 2 > Gen 4 > Gen 5 > Gen 7
I was actually kinda surprised by the last two.
Yeah, I kinda guess this one, though.
Gen V > Gen IV > Gen VII > Gen III > Gen II > Gen I > Gen 6
If I were to go into games...
BW > Pt > B2W2 > HGSS > SM > E > DP > RS > FRLG > ORAS > C > GS > RB > XY
Never played Yellow
Then why not just use Showdown? If you don't compete and don't care about the story?PSS = The actual Pokémon games for me.
Last page or couple of page I was asked why a Pokémon stats mean anything when I'm playing the main story. Well the PSS is why a Pokémon stats, IV, and is EV trained matters for my play throughs.
Having the PSS on while going through my journey and with a profile and message that says excepting 6v6 battles I would get battle request from real players while on my journey and I would use my ingame bread and trained team against them. I would treat battles against other players as part of my main journey through the region. It was always funny when I accepted a battle request and the other guy saw my Froakie, Haunter, and the rest of my fully trained but not yet fully evolved team and he/she would bring like two of their Pokémon just to end up losing to me. I know that other person had to be like "wtf just happened!?"
Then why not just use Showdown? If you don't compete and don't care about the story?
No PC and I didn't say I don't care about the story.
Brief me history
Was there for Gen 1 and Gen 2 which I loved. Left, tried to come back in gen 5 but ended up giving my DS with games away to a kid who's family wasn't doing too hot at that time before I even took the rapper off the game. Came back with XY and I discover the PSS and I ended up putting a ungodly amount off time into XY. I loved that journey and I loved the fact that I could take on other players while on that journey. XY is why I've gotten back into Pokémon to the point that it has rubbed off on my kids and they now talk about and want to play Pokémon.
Edit: I also enjoy the breeding and training involved with creating my team.
My bad, I thought you were coming from a similar "SuMo's bad because it had cutscenes and I just wanna battle with people" route, but honestly, you can play Showdown with just a laptop, I don't think it takes much to run, honestly.
This will sound stupid, but one of my biggest gripes with SunMoon is the lack of a bicycle.
I have to dismount and remount that stupid ugly Tauros (one of my least favourite Pokémon, for the record) constantly because the damn thing is too big to fit through paths, around trainers and rocks, or up staircases into buildings. (Oh yeah, and it takes an extra button press or two to access compared to the bike) I can't even believe how much frustration such a simple thing caused me over the course of the game.
I love the idea of Pokémon replacing HMs and mundane things like bikes, but maybe offer a smaller ride 'mon in the next game?
Riding Pokémon is something only the Alola natives doI think that's fair, I actually do hope that they mix up the Ride Pokemon every generation if they do end up keeping that feature (THEY BETTER)

Cerulean Gym sure did change.
I mean, dudes flock to Cerulean for Misty's sisters, so they might have a steady income revenue. Maybe if Brock took off his shirt like in the games then he could compete lmaoSo much for gyms being underfunded.
I feel like SM is in its own little world considering how Brock reverted back to his original self as well as Misty.
I mean that's not what I said, either. Your suggestion of me just rushing through the story so I can then train whatever I want in the postgame wasn't a solution at all, because I still like plaything through the 'story' of a Pokemon game. I like slowly gathering a team as I travel across the region for the first time, battling against in-game trainers and the Gyms/Trials etc. I just think SM's story ruined the game for me because of how prominent it was. I might not have minded if it was a good story, but it didn't work for me on any level. My bad, I thought you were coming from a similar "SuMo's bad because it had cutscenes and I just wanna battle with people" route, but honestly, you can play Showdown with just a laptop, I don't think it takes much to run, honestly.
The sisters have been going on trips for 15 years. Its all Misty bringing in that fan service dough.I mean, dudes flock to Cerulean for Misty's sisters, so they might have a steady income revenue. Maybe if Brock took off his shirt like in the games then he could compete lmao

Did you check your account activity on the 3DS? It looks like some people have gotten their codes. So, the Celebi and Theme codes. Do you only get them if you got both games, were they supposed to be in the receipt (email if you migrated to a Nintendo Account) if you pre-loaded, or are they going to send another email/update the receipt when the game actually comes out?
I bought Silver and I don't have anything.
Receipt isn't there on the 3DS, as I said they go to email after going through the process to link the NNID with the Switch. I'll wait until the game actually comes out before contacting them, maybe something will change by then.Did you check your account activity on the 3DS? If not, you probably have to contact Nintendo about it.
