Lets see, payed "switch 2 upgrade", payed online, payed day 1 dlc, and a over 50% price increase compared to a few gens back (excl bank and home), maybe its time to just wait for a sale this time. Was about to get a physical collectors edition but that not even being complete is like so bad. Also seemingly just 1 town not an entire region, so a good thing they scale down, but that with scaled up prices leaves a bad taste.

It's 2025 my man, you have to get it now before the price goes up.

Game costs $70, looks like some mid budget title from 2 console generations ago and they are letting you know you aren't even getting all the content for that price.

DLC looks like the worst of both worlds?

Not only is this day one DLC 30 bucks, it looks like ON day one, all you get are some outfits, with the actual story content, which includes Raichu's new forms, won't be available for over three months until late February? Incredible.

why cant we have an awesome pokemon game with great graphics , voice over characters , great story , a gigantic open world to explore and u know...catch pokemon...

I'm honestly thinking they are forcing the hands right there.
A DLC of a game that didn't even launch. The only content about the DLC is what? 2 new megas? Selling that way sound like a prey strategy Mcdonalds adopted here and was fined for it because kids were buying burgers just for the prizes.
Also since they already announced the DLC nothing says if they actually concluded the project and cut them to make a DLC or are 2 separate projects. To make matters worse any mon you put in that game cannot be transfered for anything(even the ones who coexist in both games), so your mon is likely trapped until you can do something outside of that game. I gotta a bad feeling about this one.

It's literally because:

Low effort, insane sales. As long as that keeps being true The Pokemon Company has no incentive to move beyond their winning formula.
And since the vast majority of Pokemon fans continue showing up and buying the games, you just have to accept that's the reality of Pokemon games

After going on a lawsuit spree against people allegedly stealing their ingenous "throw object" patent and monster summoning mechanics, they're seriously releasing a blatant Minecraft ripoff like this? This company is satire.

$30 is a very high price for this.

The mega stones for the Kalos starters will 100% be in the DLC. So if you wanted those megas but didn't want to play ranked you will have to pay $30 for them. I can see it now.

I'm split on Pokopia. On the one hand, the core concept sounds addictive as hell. Mixing Animal Crossing and Pokemon could be an inspired idea if they get the balance right and have enough options to keep it from getting boring fast.

But, man, why does it look so rough? Like, I know I shouldn't expect more from The Pokemon Company, but this is apparently a Switch 2 exclusive? I get that you're going to have a bunch of Pokemon active in the world at once, but, come on, if this were a Switch 1 game released in 2021 people would have still been shitting on the graphics.

Most of my red flags are going off with Pokopia to the point that it normally wouldn't even warrant my attention.

But if by some chance it's less "Animal Crossing" and more "Dragon Quest Builders 2" then I could be all over it. DQB2 combined block sandbox creativity, but with RPG and Simulation game mechanics and I loved it. Felt like meeting the demands of citizens in a Sim City game, but with the artistic freedom of a sandbox. Constant goals that gave you purpose in the sandbox.

I like the setting but Arceus was kinda trash and I love Sinnoh.

Playing original Pearl on my DS Lite again rn like my fourth copy of it. Sprite based Pokemon was so good, warts and all.

That would require GF to actually put in serious work. We all know that's not going to happen.
