I think the three starters look pretty good. I like the look of the duck Quaxly the most. Fuecoco's head looks like an apple someone took a bite out of. I had some interest in Arceus but that sadly didn't turn out the way I was looking forward to it being.

I wonder why they can't just use the same engine as BotW; it would be perfect for an open world Pokémon game. Didn't Gamefreak even move into the same building as Nintendo recently? You'd think they'd share some assets and/or technology.

Because even with internal help, shifting the franchise to a new engine would probably be a lot of work. And as the sales of Arceus just showed, they have no reason to do so because this will sell 15 million units either way.

Yeah I don't care about "bUT mUH gRaFiX" when Gamefreak clearly is focusing on making sure the games *work* in handheld mode (which seems to be their main technical focus).

That said, the MC designs are a massive step back.

Hopefully they can still fix them because they look like generic npcs you'd ignore in the town hubs.

Do something fancy with the shaders, redesign them, touch them up, ANYTHING, but practically everyone dislikes the look of the MCs.

And try not making them look like kindergartners. I don't know if it's the uniforms or what, but these are by far the youngest looking MCs of the whole series.

I think US/UM also looks like 5 year old kids of how child like their faces are, not to mention their sizes.

it looks a little bit better than Arceus and Gen8. It still doesn't look good, but better. The scene at the house even looks pretty I'd say.
