[Pokémon Presents] Pokemon Generation 9 announced

Predictions for the inevitable secondary typing for the starters' final evolutions?

Mine are:

Sprigatito (lol): Grass/Psychic
Fuecoco: Fire/Ground
Quaxly: Water/Flying

Hmmmmm…

Well, it looks better than legends but that's like saying something looks better than elephant man.

They've officially run out of design ideas looking at the starters

I think for me pokemon will just remain a classic and i'll stick with older games / pokemon showdown for competition.

I though the last one was doing well? Oh yeah, they can only trully archieve cashcow millions with each new generation. And people still denies that.

Sprigatito

Fuecoco? Jesus Christ...they aren't even trying.

They used to troll when things get too obvious. Remember Inceneroar and Decidueye? Specially the latter, changed from flying to ghost.

I think this is the first gen that the grass type started isn't the lamest one.

Wow a Pokemon set in Spain/Portugal, I'm loving it!
I'm sure they will turn the Balearic islands and Canary islands into a DLC.

An open world Pokemon game... didn't we get one of those like, yesterday? How's releasing another one just a few months later a good idea?
It is if you like money, both these games and Arceus are gonna be big hits this holiday, now imagine if Nintendo actually releases Breath of the Wild 2 this year

Is this graphics style easier to make than more aggressive cel shadding like wind waker? I'm trying to wonder they keep the environments looking this poor texture wise but with cel shaded characters. Might as well go all the way

I'm starting to think BotW2 is 2023. Especially if the Switch's successor is 2024. This and Xenoblade 3 would be enough to anchor the lineup later this year.

Exactly what I'm thinking too. They can sit back and relax this holiday season rather than worrying about whether or not Zelda can make it.

Take a closer look at Lucario in the trailer. This game backs off from cel shading, compared to the last few generations.

You sure that's texture of just terrible resolution artifacts? lol, im joking

I mean on one hand slowly they are getting better with each release, on the otherhand, damn these games are an eyesore. They are improving though. I guess this is the price to pay so that whatever the third game we get on the Switch 2 is will look great

I find it more infuriating than weird. Game Freak used to take their time making the mainline games. There was a two-year gap between Red/Blue and Yellow, and a four-year gap between Red/Blue and Gold/Silver. These days, they treat the series as if it were Call of Duty or FIFA.
Gold and Silver launched three years after RB; not four.

They have a very consistent 3 year cycle for generations. Nothing changed here.

Yeah its very possible it gets delayed to early 2023

But i imagine Nintendo really wants 2022 to be a 'killer' year, they need to retain people attention from the shiny new consoles with their exclusives. 2022 still has not revealed its full lineup for Switch

They delayed Diamond and Pearl from 2005 to 2006 which was a near 4 year gap and B/W was a September 2010 release which was also 4 years... We're just in an accelerated culture for consuming products dude. It hasn't always been 3 years. lol.

So this is just gonna be a new version of Sword and Shield right? with tiny improvements? or are we talking open-world like Arceus?

That's why I said "very consistent" and not "always"... Read and comprehend.

How do they manage to make the games uglier with every new installment that has to be done on purpose right?

I'm not exactly a fan of the style for the character models. Should have stuck to the anime/Sword and Shield style. This time they look like Mii characters a bit:
