Pokémon Scarlet & Violet Switch 2 footage and comparison (free update)

Animated GIF

Thank god it's free.

Wow it went from looking dated as fuck to looking dated as fuck at 60fps.

You could probably give the Switch 2 an RTX5090 and gamefreak would struggle to make something that looks better than a Ps3 game.

That's a huge difference. It looks awful visually, but at least with 60fps it is acceptable. That Switch 1 performance is embarrassing, honestly.

I find it ironic that the Switch emulator that runs on Switch 2 is of the "same kind" as the one Nintendo killed on android, native cpu instructions with an emulated gpu.

It's 60 alright. And it also still looks like shit.

Unacceptably ugly.

Not only does it still look like shit, but the actual game is boring as fuck.

Easily the worst mainline Pokémon game. No performance boost can same this POS.

Yeah still looks ugly, but if I had to choose between better fidelity at 30, or same fidelity at 60, I'd pick the latter.

That mostly GameFreak....other devs like Monolith Soft mange to make MUCH bigger world while looking better both visually and artstyle.

Are they showing the same fucking game, with the same fucking settings, but just hardware brute force?

Is a miracle they aren't using an emulator for showing the comparisons.

Not sure if anyone notice but more pokemon are on screen at once on Switch 2. Just in the water scene, there are 26 pokemon on screen on Switch 2 and 8 on Switch one.

jesus christ... I came away looking at the footage to be pretty excited. You guys have no idea how bad the frame rate got in some areas...this looks amazing to me. The negativity makes it so hard to stay positive sometimes.

Currently that's entire GAF….in GAF everything suck and gaming is doomed.

Definitely looks cleaner, but why compare different day cycles together? Also forget about performance & fidelity, what about all the bugs?

There is nothing to do with 'negativity'. The game is bad and runs bad.

For you to say is a positive thing paying >$400 just for make Pokemon to run decent is kinda crazy. I never expected Pokemon Scarlet to run at locked 60 fps on my NS to be honest, but is not even close to 30 fps. Is a game with bad frame rate and bad graphics, there is nothing in this game that justify running so poorly.

If you love Pokemon and mediocrity, so thats the way to be. I gonna get a NS2 to make my Nintendo games to play better. Pokemon Scarlet/Violet is the black sheep of the bunch, runs like trash and plays like trash. I spend more time with this shit game than I should, I lost the count of how many times this game crash between online ranked battles and Tera raid.

Don't think Nintendo Switch 2 will solve Pokemon Scarlet/Violet issues. The game will continue to crash no matter what.

There's a lot of little improvements that make it overall a massive difference, it's not just fps.
There's many more pokemon on screen like you mentioned, the draw distance is vastly improved and the shadows and distance animations don't update at 5 fps anymore.

For "free update" they improved a lot but hope see same type improvements on other game I enjoy like Xenoblade games and Astral Chain with free update.

It's a free update, not a remake.

The base game was ugly and run like shit. They can only fix the second part.

My GF purchased these and had no issue with how the game ran, but she really disliked the open world and the fact that you could just get to a high level zone soon without noticing and get stomped.

Pokemon fans really liked the game despite the flaws, so I am curious on trying it now that it runs like normal sofware NS2

I know the majority shit on Scarlet/Violet, myself included, but I recently did another playthrough and really enjoyed it, especially the DLC. So cannot wait to jump back in on Thursday!

Not even upping textures? Come on guys! Are they really trying to say this game is THAT ambitious that they still can't even up rez textures or Jitter them so they don't end up looking like tiles?

We don't even know if will be a resolution boost.

Just a boost in fps and you can see more pokemons at the same time on the screen.

As I said, Pokemons fans embrace mediocrity, and thats fine. No wonder why they prefer to discussing the game on places like Reddit, Smogon, Discord... Reddit normally moderate every kind of negativity, so is a wet dream for pkmn fans.
