I think GameFreak is finally testing the water. They add small things like "you have 2 best friends who go on their trainer quests at the same time as you!" and we are like "OMFGGG THIS IS HUGE", wich considering previous game story changes, it is. But one has to remember, this isnt a broken formula, these games will sale like pancakes even if they are the same red/blue with new pokemon and better graphics. I for one am glad they are doing this, they really didnt needed to, in a financial stand point, but at a very slow pace (like i think its needed, it is a delicate matter to change something that works so great) they are mixing things up, finally.

Now I know why this game is called Black&White. The game has changed. Pokemon will never be the same.

It's probably not that black and white.

Not sure how true this is or not, but PokeJungle is saying that the reason why there weren't lots of new Pokemon in this CoroCoro issue was because of a mistranslation. We thought it included the "Master Document", but it actually is called the "Origin Document". Apparently the next issue will have an "Advanced Document" that it comes with. Considering the games release next month in Japan, I wouldn't be surprised to see lots of new Pokemon in the next issue.

I just had two thoughts as to how the TM system could suck now that they're all repeated-use:

1) The TMs get reassigned to something that makes GSC's look good. Seriously, check out the Gen II set here. So many stinkers...

2) There's 92+ TMs in the game, but they're divided into the two games (and of course, Gray has all of them).

Oh man what if these new TM's cant be a pokemon held item :o

Oh no...I can't think about this.

I'll take the average and say no change from DPPt
Platinum and HGSS were a lot faster than DP.

The TM news means practically nothing to me since I've got too many dupes to bother transferring anyway. And like a thousand BP to buy more. >_>

No more GTS cloning Explosion/Grass Knot/Trick Room TMs for me! :D

But wait, old Pokemon are obtainable pre-E4!

Breed Luvdisc's evolution! :P

Yeah I don't get this. Are you telling me we won't be able to breed or trade over from Gen 4 until Elite 4 is finished?

Also, is there anywhere other than Play-Asia that I can import a copy of White? I'm not paying $64+ for a fucking Japanese Pokemon game.

maybe it's only new pokemon in the wild? And if you breed, it will just be given pokemon #000 like Viktini until you get the national dex

/theory

Well, no one knows when you'll have access to the PokeShooter. Also, Pokemon pre-Isshu are obtainable through encounters in the Dream World (like Pikachu, or Hydration Vaporeon).

Pappasman said:
I think I missed it but what is dream world?
The Dream World is an online location you can send your Pokemon to (by getting an ingame item, Dream Smoke, from a Pokemon that emits it, Musharna). In this world, you can play minigames and 'encounter' new Pokemon, to take back to your game.

I think it's mainly "caves won't be Zubats and Geodudes, they'll be Batzus and Dudgeos".

It's not that there won't be any pre-BW Pokemon allowed before the E4, just not in the wild or with trainers (maybe).

What do you mean?

You can't trade over old Pokemon until you beat the E4 so IDK how one is to see the old Pokemon if their not in the wild or with trainers.

Maybe with those dreams?

You can't trade old Pokemon, I assume you can still trade with other people.

Ah, it'll probably give you a "This Pokemon isn't recognized by your Pokedex" message if you try and trade a non gen-5 Pokemon. Why didn't I think of that earlier >_>

Yeah, pretty much that. They seem to really want you getting the new Pokemon only this time.

NON HYPE EDIt: Read all of the OP now and truly this is the GSC of our time.

EXACTLY. This is one stacked Poke-update right here. Pretty much the only thing the game needs is being able to go back to another region, and it truly will be the "current-era's answer to G/S". :D

INFINITE TMs OH GOD I'M HAVING A MELTDOWN... YEP I'M HAVING A MELTDOWN!!!

Hey Andrex, could you spoiler tag new pokemon names and story details in future or at least mark them as spoilers? I won't be able to avoid thread titles, but I do want to go into these games without having already pored over every single detail prior

OH MY F*CKING GOD INFINITE USE TMs NOW GET RID OF HMs PLX

:O

No more fucking grinding for stupid Battle Points to get those popular expensive TMs, and no more holding back when assigning moves to your pokemons!!!!

Err, the names are in Japanese anyways. And I don't think there's any plot stuff in the OP.

I think its a bit too much to ask to spoiler all the pokemon, the OP would just be a post with a load of black lines if he did.

I saw someone else mentioned they don't think they will let you transfer TM's from the old games, I really can't see them letting us transfer all the Tm's over, all the crappy one's will be available ingame and all the decent one's like ice beam we will have to get them from a move tutor of some kind so you can't rape the hell out of them.

Demo Info
Demo takes place in and around Sekka City
When you start the demo you get one of the starters, Shikijika, and Zoroa
Which starter you get and what season you play during is random
Mijumaru has a high attack stat (they speculate that it’s final evolution is indeed Water/Fighting)
Shell Blade: Physical / Base power: 75 / Accuracy: 95 / Slight chance to lower defense
Pokabu has high attack and HP but low defense
Nitro Charge: Physical / Base power: 50 / Accuracy: 100 / Chance to raise your speed
Grass Mixer: Special / Base power: 65 / Accuracy: 90 / Chance to lower opponent’s accuracy [Very similar to the attack 'Octazooka']
Shikijika knows the attacks: Leech Seed, Take Down, Scary Face, and Double Kick
Zoroa‘s ability Illusion is confirmed to only affect appearance, does not emulate type or attacks. It knew the attacks Fury Swipe and Faint Attack
Darumakka is confirmed as being in the demo and is Hihidaruma’s prevo. It doesn’t seem to have arms or legs
Basurao has a rectangular jaw with the top half of its body being green and the bottom half being grey. Writer compared it to Carvanha

What's a TM?

Technical machine

Their disks that allow you to teach a pokemon a move they can't learn through levelling up, they used to be single use then you would have to find another but now they are changing each one to infinite use, but as always there has to be some kind of con in it.

As TMs are now infinite use, I can see these things happening:
- Brand new TM list.
- Only one of each TM can be obtained.
- TMs cannot be transferred from 4th gen games (when attempting to transfer a Pokémon holding a TM, it will tell you to remove it first).
- TMs cannot be held (and therefore cannot be traded), just like HMs.
- TMs (and HMs) can only be used at a PC in a Pokémon Centre (to avoid abusing them for PP restoration and Elite 4 runs).
