not a good time to go on tilt since I have a few weeks before a Trip to Vegas but I wanted to ask everyone what they do when they go on tilt?

Step back and evaluate your game for leaks? Take a break? anything?

It's a shame, my best descision tonight would have been to just not play which I contemplated. I went in playing very angry and it went downhill from there.

and before anyone posts.. yes, www.blogger.com

I try and stay away when I've got a streak of unlucky cards (play... etc.) Normally I'll try to tweak out my game by playing in some freerolls... or just by fucking around online with free games. Gets my mind off the bad nights and reminds me why I love to play poker.

Other times... I've almost FORCED myself not to play only to find myself at a table an hour later. Funny thing is... it's on those nights that I play my best.

When I'm on TILT at a table... I need to relax. I'll grab a beer or two... maybe a couple of smokes and calm my nerves. Poker is a about control... once you lose it (unless luck is on your side) you've already lost.

No, poker is about making the best possible decisions you can, over the long term.

Grabbing a few beers while on tilt is the dumbest advice ever. You might think it works for you, but when you're on tilt, your judgement is already impaired. Adding alcohol to the mix is even worse - you might as well call yourself an ATM.

keiichi - My advice would be to take a short break - maybe take a weekend off, do something fun with your friends. If the tilt was caused by a string of bad beats, there's no reason to go back and re-evaulation your game, it'll just be a waste of time.

If your ego has taken a beating by the loses, just move down a few levels and take it out on the fish there. I usually play 30 + 3 SnGs on PokerStars, and if I've taken a few bad beats there, I move back down to 10 + 1 Omaha Hi/Lo and start putting on a clinic. It's pretty pointless from a money standpoint, but it'll just feel good for your ego to crush some weak opponents.
