Police probe finds no evidence Freddie Gray was fatally injured during arrest

I don't think there is such thing as a truly independent medical examiner. Every trial I've ever watched with independent medical examiners have had their integrity questioned to some extent.

In this case, if it's someone that interacts with Baltimore police often, then there's a chance there could be some bias.

The autopsy report was prelim, not final. If the state prosecution is building a case against Baltimore PD, you'd want something more concrete, no?

Bring in a Medical Examiner from Quantico. At the very least there would be some separation of bias, not a complete elimination of bias, but better.

Why wasn't the autopsy finalized? If the DOJ/State Prosecutors Office wants to charge BPD officers with complicity in the guy's death, they need to confirm exactly how he died.

It's shady to only have one person, who's familiar with LEO in the Balitmore area, perform an autopsy on the person whose death led to what's currently going on in Baltimore.

They thought they could get away with it?

Nothing is going to change because not enough white people give a shit.

A whole lot of people too busy blaming black people for every damn thing that happens to them, and acting as if police officers don't have the responsibility to make good logical and moral decisions like everyone else.

Suicide by headbutts is in Maddox's list of most manly ways to off yourself. That should be enough to know how cartoonishly impossible it is.

I feel like they leak stories like the self inflicted injury one, see how people react and adjust the official one accordingly. Basically a test run for how much bullshit people will swallow.

Hey guys nothing to see here. We investigated ourselves and released a report. Typed it up on MS Word and everything. Official as fuck.

Carry on with your regularly scheduled sporting events.

Little known fact here. Freddie Gray was into backyard wrestling. He got the worst end of a botched suplex off the roof of a vacant. Needless to say, the back injury lead to his eventual death. Cops had nothing to do with it.

When did this guy get in the van was he not picked up later? The fact that they are trying to spin this bullshit is amazing, do they actual believe people are this stupid.

"The medical examiner found Gray's catastrophic injury was caused when he was slammed into back of the police transport van and apparently broke his neck. Law enforcement sources also said Gray sustained a head injury that matches bolt in the back of police van, the affiliate reported."

So....it was during the arrest?

No, they physically threw him into the van and they let him go before his head hit the wall. He wasn't in custody until he landed on the floor, so technically the police where not involved it was just gravity.

It doesn't really change much in my eyes. So the police didn't directly beat him into a broken back. They still intentionally drove the van in such a manner to break his back knowing he wasn't buckled in. The police commissioner has already admitted this.

Black people are fucking krogans. We fearlessly charge at police officers shooting at us, we can strike fear by huffing and puffing like demons, we all have Hulk Hogan grips and whenever our killing sprees are about to come to an end we find secret agent ways of committing suicide. While our hands are handcuffed behind our backs, we can still shoot ourselves in our own heads! Don't want to be questioned in the precinct and snitch on yourself? Fuck we can bash our heads and severe our own spinal cords with the dehumanizing Shaka Zulu headbutt!

Any well intentioned prosecutor would throw the book at the 6 and wait for the innocent ones to rat out the driver and whoever brutalized Mr. Gray.

Well intentioned prosecuter also might be on a softball team with these dudes. What I mean is, if he wants their continued help in the future, he might be thinking about the repercussions of admitting their failures.Or even his own.

yup. Black peoples' losing streak continues smh.

There is a video of his initial arrest where he is being dragged to the vehicle. In the video he is calling out in pain and being told to stand while not being able to. Apparently, they were able to determine that whatever injuries he had at that point were not fatal. According to the medical examiner, the injury that led to his death occurred off camera in the vehicle when he slammed into the back of the police transport.

It doesn't state whether the injuries he had going into the vehicle precipitated the fatal injury. I think that could end up being a key point in all of this. It will be much more difficult for them to argue that this was some sort of accident if the injuries he sustained in the initial arrest could have led to his fatal injury.

The man looks severely injured before getting into the van.

I can't believe the shit police gets away with in the US, time after time.

You actually need to just systematically fire and replace the police force across your entire country because these stories are insane.

And it has probably been this way (or worse) for decades before the world started hearing about it every week.

Police investigate police and find shocking result: Police not at fault.

Keep in mind they didn't give him any medical attention at that point and also chose to not secure him with a seat belt, instead opting to have him sit with his arms cuffed behind his back and his legs shackled.

They then want us to believe he threw himself headfirst into a bolt protruding from the door severing his spine. At some point he also manage to crush his larynx.

Millions of Americans find that to be reasonable.

I've been working on my eye laser cannons, personally.

I mean if I get pulled over and I know things are about to go south, I'm firing laser beams from my eyes. I want them to try and explain that shit.

Yep. Nothing left to see here. The end writes itself.

He forgot one thing.

5. Everything stays the same

Edit: Rereading the thread again and noticed an edit. What the fuck Commedieu!? When have I ever justified the loss of rights for a disenfranchised group, even for example Black people in this thread? Where did your comment even stem from to attack me like that?

My question is why the distinction between the literal arrest (the handcuffing/apprehension) and being put into the van. It's confusing. For all intents and purposes, "arrest" is the time he spent in police custody.

So they can distance themselves from the murder. Now it's either the van/transport that killed the fella accidentally or he suicided by headbutting whatever until he severed his spine in about 4 seconds according to the other transported man, in one the most bizarre suicides ever. It's not their fault anymore.

Im falling apart here, I just grasped that the guy was 3 years younger than me, its like you you are older that you know that you might die at any moment, wondering of all the things that he is never gonna do, the kisses he will never have, the kids that he wont have. Jesus, Im feeling like I lost a great deal of innocence with this thing. Stay face people.

Who is "they"? I'm talking about the news report, not the police. Is the article really drawing a distinction no one really cares about? People just want to know HOW it happened, not "when". And saying that "it didn't happen during the arrest" unnecessarily complicates things

Oh, I see, I was referring to the police and the probe stating Gray did not suffer any injuries during the arrest but during transportation.

He was severly injured either during the physical arrest or while in custody, which is basically the same, but they come up with the distinction 'It didn't happen during the arrest' so it seems no officer was responsible and it was just some accident, involuntary negligence or bizarre suicide attempt.

Even if mainstream news believe the official version, contrary to the video evidence showing Gray in terrible state and screaming during the arrest, there are many questions and accountability to ask for, which they seem to have no interest in doing at all so far.

It won't do any good until law enforcement, as a whole, is held accountable for their actions. And there is no group in the United States that is not affected by the lack of accountability. But historically, groups that are disadvantaged, marginalized and disenfranchised are affected disproportionately.
