I hope someone saved a clip of CNN projecting Obama as the motherfacking president, I wanted to watch that moment but I was in my car driving as fast as I could back home.
You didn't miss much. Those bastards had the nerve to call Ohio, an hour after calling PA, with Obama 50 points away from 270, right before California closed it's polls, then went to a graphic, like 'Breaking News!', then after a pause, called the election. It was like...'Breaking News-Obama takes Ohio'...*graphic w/sound*...'Breaking News-LoL, we can stack Breaking news on top of each other'

I just had to laugh at the ridiculousness of them calling races with less than 1% voting and the feeling they weren't calling Ohio and Florida to drag out the race. I wish we could look into it. They held off on calling Ohio, waiting for Cleveland to report after Obama put up a 100K lead from the suburbs.

Don't mind me, I wish I could have gotten more sleep. No need for him to be making his speech at 12am.

"It was very odd...many of the girls in my dorm were sobbing while they listened, overcome with this intense joy. I found myself getting sucked in...but I asked God to guard my mind and perspective and viola, I "snapped out of it"...he has this strange aura that is very visible when he's on stage and when he speaks that just catches you if you let your guard down. It had me very concerned. "

They're trying to convince themselves he's the antichrist. Predictable.

So if you're a good public speaker and can rally all types of people to your ideals, you're the Antichrist?

Makes perfect sense...

And an awesome day for black people.

And a shitty day for gay people.

Why does this election have to bring me so many mixed feelings. :/

I feel the same way. Jumbled up inside.

At least I get to laugh at the End of Days "christians"

Yeah, remember, Obama said he wouldn't run in 2008 after Kerry lost also. Means nothing.

I, for one, am looking forward to the GOP throwing McCain under the bus and him responding by destroying Palin.:D

republican in fighting will be awesome

I don't like that he's leaving them behind.

I know, it's probably supposed to be a representation of the past that CAN'T change, but something about that just looks like him casually moving on alone and leaving other black men behind.

With the all due respect.
That fact that you saw that in the image....is why whe NEED OBAMA as President right now.

There is something both beautiful and sad lingering in the image. That America has held that history and with OBAMA in the whitehouse signals some soft of shift. How much of a shift is up to us. We make the world that it is. The world doesn't make us.

Some rapture ready folks.

I wish I could be as optimistic as you are Bernardd. Truthfully, after looking at all the associations Obama has, his agenda for tax increases, his hatred for America, his support of infanticide and abortion, his support of gay rights, his socialistic views, etc., I don't see how this will pan out.

I'm sickend beyond words.

We just need to remember that Satan might have won this battle, but Jesus has already won the war. May God have mercy on us thes next 4 years.

Something happened in my heart. I feel disconnected to the nation that spit in God's face tonight. America as I knew and loved it is gone. Gone.

I am shaking and crying. Good greif Oprah is on. As he listed through all the stuff America has accomplished in the last 100 years I started bawling. We have gone no where. I would rather have horse and buggy then what we have now. I used to think I was born in the wrong century. Now I know I was born in the right century because Lord willing I will see everything come to an end.

Part of me is shocked and another part is not. This country will never be the same again. One bright thing is that GOD is coming back very soon to get us out of Obama Land. I watch these people on TV and they are just so blind and stupid.
So the people on TV are stupid but your delusions about a rapture are not? :lol

I do not think we will be here in 4 years. I believe that the Lord will come for us before then. I think fulfillment of prophecy is going to now move at a startling pace. Birth pains are about to increase in intensity and amount.
Yike! losts of multiple posts! right now 1403 on the board- 1063 guests!
They probably think a lot of people came to the site because they were worried about a rapture coming due to the election . . . in reality, it is people laughing at them. :lol

There is still hope. While I absolutely do not approve of assination, there is a good chance of someone trying it before he is sworn in or shortly after.

Also don't forget the challenges to his citizenship. I doubt that the people pressing that issue will slack off now. Rather, I expect them to redouble their efforts before the innauguration.

Does anyone know what the required action will be if Obama is assinated before he is sworn in? Also what does election law, or the constitution, say about the way to handle it if he is shown to be inneligible for the office? Does the succession rule that would give the presidency to Biden apply before Obama is sworn in or would we need a new election? Or a possible third scenario of McCain, with the second highest vote tally, being declared the winner instead?
Wow. Real Christian there.

I can't believe a guy with the middle name Hussein is the President of the USA. This is beyond belief and those who didn't let such bigotry get in the way to vote for him - this election belongs to them.

I also feel so happy for all of those in our science and space fields. They are really going to have the opportunity to do some amazing things now that we once again have a President who factors in this little thing called the future!

I don't think this country could've have afforded to fall even more behind in those areas due to piss-poor funding and conservative ideals labeling important advances as "unethical".

I think the alternative is to show Obama taking a bunch of black people into the white house with him, and I don't know that the artist would like the way that image could be conveyed by some.

You would think your candidate winning a historical election with historic turnout would be enough for some of you but you're going for after these people like they personally come to your house and rob you daily.

JFC enjoy the victory.

What the fuck is wrong with laughing and pointing at people to are mentally unbalanced on purpose? NOTHING!

Its hilarious. STFU and go along with it.

I can't go to rr-bb.com at work - post more content. We can just have an offical rr-bb.com thread...that'll make things easier.

I'm so emotionally drained right now, from jubilation last night to to so much anger at the state of my birth. Fuck you california.

Great piece of sermon from Jeffery Goldberg

How can our Judaism not inform the way we feel about the questions we face each day, questions large and small?

The challenge for religion is to keep politics focused on issues and not let it degenerate into campaigning for particular candidates, thus making synagogues and churches into hotbeds of political activity. Advocating for candidates in the context of prayer would run the risk of pitting worshiper against worshiper.

I have thought about your question for a long time, Lila, and I did so against the backdrop of this historic election. As I thought about this, a kind of fantasy question popped into my mind: it is the Shabbat after the election and the newly-elected president is in Washington to begin the work of transition. He decides to go with a Jewish advisor to Shabbat services. In my fantasy, in walks the President-elect to our Shabbat services at Micah. What would I tell them -- what would my Jewish voice have to say to a newly elected president?

1. Honesty. Please, Mr. President-elect -- simply tell us what you think, what you want to do and why. Try and shed yourself of the handlers and spinmeisters and doublespeak. There is nothing that so destroys the morale of our nation as this. The Talmud explicitly legislates against a kind of speech where the speaker is counting on being misunderstood. On the contrary, we are commanded to speak so that we can be clearly understood, ant not to use the power of words to mislead the listener away from our real intentions. Doublespeak is the equivalent of putting a stumbling block before the blind. Cynicism corrodes the heart and the American heart has become depressingly cynical. Ultimately in life, all we have is who we are. Please, I would say--- be yourself with us. That is, model yourself on Buber -- I-Thou. Speak to our dignity as full human beings.

2. Then I would perhaps reflect on Jewish models of leadership and simply remind the new President that Moses was always under attack and always lonely. His greatest moments came when he was alone -- the burning bush, Mt. Sinai, in the meeting tent where only he could enter, Mt. Nebo at the end of his life. The nature of the leader is to be lonely -- don't try and be popular, because seeking popularity is what gets us golden calves. Serious leadership results in the Ten Commandments. Do what you think is right.

3. Finally, I would say that there is nothing more important than hope. You can go without food for several days, but without hope, our lives are lost. Hope in Hebrew "tikva." I learned from a colleague, Rabbi Michael Marmur, about the different opinions about the origin of the word. Some say it comes from "mikva," a ritual bath. Hope then is a resource, a pool, a solace, and a support. Pools of hope are what we all need.

There is a second view on the derivation of the word, that it is connected to a cord or thread. The famous red thread which makes an appearance in the Book of Joshua is called a Tikva. If the first meaning of the word looks to sources of support, the second kind of hope is symbolized by a thin thread leading from a complicated present to a possible future. This is also a great need in our time for a thread of hope that can lead us to a strong bridge. Nachman of Bratzlav taught that the entire world is a narrow bridge and the important thing is to not be afraid.

A big reason that I supported Obama is because he seems to actually believe in these things. He uses religion as a personal guide, and not as an absolute cudgel for everyone else.

Holy Shit. Unbelievable. God. What a day this is. I got Al Green's "Love and Happiness" blaring here at work along with Stevie's "For Once In My Life":

"For once I can sing, this is mine, you can't take it..."

I've got to dig thru more of that huffingtonpost link but I have more respect for McCain for this but I'm not sure the true extent of it:

Was McCain more principled than his campaign led me to believe? Was he just dumb? Picking Palin, of all people, leads me to think he's just dumb in a bad situation. Yeah, they couldn't equal the energy of Obama but McCain-Palin did not effectively convey their ideas outside of emotions. Their plans were non-existant. When Obama switched speeds and delved into the 'meat' of his plans during the second debate, McCain was still stuck with a retard for a VP pick and ineffective platform.

As a registered democrat, I'm sure the country would be willing to accept another conservative that doesn't pander to the religious minority. Hopefully, we'll get a few good republicans to rise to the top over the next few years.

I have a lot more respect for him as a person after reading those things earlier.

However, it only reinforces my opinion his Presidency would have been disastrous. He clearly was in over his head and would have run his administration by seeding all decisions to the right-wing policy makers. We all know how well that worked in the Bush administration.

I see it as they helped him through the woods (america dark times) but he will be assuming the role as the first black president by himself. If he fails then the blacks can just stand to the side and judge him or if he is successful then they can stand to the side and support him either way he is going to tackle this alone.

Well thats just how I intepret it.
