Poltergeist (1982) - My Favorite Scariest Movie Of All Time

Poltergeist.

One of my favorite movies ever and the scariest movie I've ever seen.

This movie scarred me for life. Many of the scenes still scare me since I first saw it as a kid.

In all my years, nothing has come close. The Exorcist maybe.

The lightning, the ghost effects and design, both the subtle and not-so-subtle moments.... There's so much here.

If you have not seen the original Steven Spielberg/Tobe Hooper Poltergeist, please do so this Halloween. For a movie from 1982, it still holds up incredibly well.

I remember as a kid being haunted by the “they”re heeeeree” as she looked away from the TV. One of the best horror memories I have as a kid.

The circumstances surrounding people attached to the film add even more to the film itself.

It definitely stands as one of the best horror movies of all times for a myriad of reasons.

I remember the actress who played Tangina, Zelda Rubinstein, in a few commercials in the 80s, always doing the psychic schtick.

She was quite the legend....

Scariest? Maybe as a little kid, as an adult it's just an 80s movie with horror themes thrown in. It's funnier than it is scary.

Still a really great movie though.

watched it for the first time recently and wasnt impressed. it was more story heavy than i expected, and it was well done, i just didnt like it. didnt think it was scary at all. in fact i felt it had a lot of humor, like it really wasnt taking itself too seriously, and i kinda of liked that.

i will say, however, i remember watching a few scenes hear or their on TV as a kid and being pretty fucking scared.

Scariest bit is when the kid wakes up and the clown isn’t sat in the chair where it should be. Maybe that’s the sequel though I forget.

I remember watching it on bootleg HBO back in 83. Demon skeleton in the closet and ending pool scene are straight up fucking horror! Love it!
