I'm thinking about buying a new PC, but I'm having trouble finding models that work with games. Something I can play Half-Life 2 in high settings with and such. Am I asking too much from technology? I have no trouble finding good processor speeds and RAM is often upgradeable, but are there good, high-performance portable video card and monitor solutions?

WTF is a portable video card? Do you want a laptop or a small, lightweight desktop PC? And by portable monitor I assume you just mean an lcd with a handle or something.

Best video card IIRC on laptops now would be the ATI Mobility 9700 which is about equivalent to the performance of a 9600XT I think. Dunno about the highest settings on HL2 with that kinda card, it might be pushing it.

P.S. portable pc != laptop
A portable PC is a small computer with no monitor attached, while a laptop or notebook is, well, a laptop or notebook.

Shit, laptop gaming really is expensive.. $4000 for a Dell Inspiron XP, and even more for shipping it to Sweden..
I'd better get an adequate laptop and a new stationary gaming setup.
