Update on the GTI...
Found a vinyl wrap company who took the official MK7 GTI plaid design and made inlays/wraps. Went a little crazy with it and did my wheels, back and front VW symbol inlays, license plate holder as well as the back of my rear view mirror.
I then took red pinstripe and did the front fins and backside
This week I put a pinstripe on the side mirrors as well as matte black vinyl over the small side windows. Have to take an exact still to the vinyl, 99.9% perfect but some overhang. Might take off the side mirror pinstripe, still debating it. Want to tint the car and those small windows are difficult, so figured it best to just vinyle them out.
Also applied a vinyle red wrap to the front and rear GTI badges. Figured the red with chrome outline would make them pop
As for internal work so far..
Wired a JB4 plug and play tune into the cars electronics to boost the HP and Torque. Used velcro tape to secure it to the battery cover lol. Still no downpipe but staying at a 92/93 octane gas and getting about 40-50 extra HP running a MAP 2. Have to log it and send my reports back to the manufacturer to get a custom MAP eventually.
Also installed a CTS turbo pipe and inlet as well as dropped a K&N filter in the factory box.
Took a dremel and opened up the factory box intake bigger.
BIG sound difference and you can hear the turbo kick in A LOT. All the yummy "Psssssssh" when I hit the gas lol
As you can see I ran the JB4 controls via USB through my car wall into the cars cabin.
Now I can plug it into my phone and adjust the setting on the fly, record logs, and use it as a way to watch my rpm/boost/gear/ign/etc.. guages.
Only other thing I did was use an OBD 11 to tap into the brains and set my blinker configuration to a Euro style, turn off seatbelt and door open "dings"/warnings, and unlock the custom backgrounds VW locks away for pricer or Euro models.
So that's my baby for now..
Goal is to do a 30 to 40% tint this winter and a down pipe. And I HAVE to change out the headlights...but new ones are $600!
(Also slapped a MKVII rear badge on the back!)
