Yeah, but there was so much shit surrounding that demo. Lots I spoke to who went to E3 and various public Sega events were saying like, "Oh, no, a Sega rep told me that was a really old build and most of the problems people are having with it are due to that. The problems will be fixed in the retail release."

I took the bait, and pre-ordered it. Got it on day one. The only thing they fixed was making it so using the right stick to move the camera wasn't so sluggish anymore and they patched a couple of weird collision detection problems. I dunno what's worse: the fact you could do this in the demo or the fact they patched it to allow you to do stuff like this instead.

I decided not to get it when the demo booted up and ran in slow motion, among other problems.

Also, thanks for the videos. They were quite entertaining. (Hurrah for Runners High).

Its all about playing your cards right and budgeting. Like looking in at Amazon Deals, or watching out for some nice prices off at BB CC or waiting for that sale at Gamestop on used game.
Just go visit CAG on that weekly base and you should be alright.

Is it wrong that I'm still looking to pick this up once I can find it for £10 or less? I'm such a Sonic whore, it really is bad for my health.

That's, what? $17 USD? Then again, I've heard most places just do a straight conversion (a game that's $50 USD is £50, etc.) so maybe that's just $10 USD. Sure, $10 to see the wasted potential might be about right. To quote what I said in the "games you keep coming back to" thread:

You can almost see it - there's a decent game under there, sometimes, it's just buried under an 800lb pile of unfinished gameplay and dog crap.

Like a lot of 3D Sonic games there's moments you hit where everything clicks together and you go "Oh, I'm actually kind of having a bit of fun." It's just with Sonic 2006, those moments are fewer and farther between than they've ever been to the point where 85% of the game blows ass at varying strengths.

It just really, really, really needed at least another six months in the oven before it was done. But hey! Can't miss the all important Christmas Rush with a gaming icon like Sonic, can we? No, of course not. Shove it out the door whether it's done or not!
