• Hey Guest. Check out your NeoGAF Wrapped 2025 results here!

Post your 3DMark05 score!

Well, my results weren't great, but they were better than I thought they'd be, given my crap CPU and having half the ram that most people here have.

Not a bad score if you ask me

OK, my system must be infected or something because you people with XP 2000+ processors are beating my P4 3.0 C at 3.4 GHz.

3DMark Score 1258
CPU Score 1483

I don't get it. Any ideas?

I go back to 3Dmark03 and I get a 5600, which is about right for a 9800 Pro.

But people with 9800 NP and 2000+ raping my system, wtf...

I got 4473

dell xps gen 3
3.4 ghz pentium 4 with 1 gig ddr2 ram
x800 xt

It was really choppy at the firefly part, and I didnt even think it was as impressive as the serpent one.

I'm on a XPS Gen 3 as well.

Seems odd that the person who posted scores above mine had a higher score with inferior hardware.

Yeesh. I'm now seriously considering a newer card now.

Off an P4 2.8c 800mhz fsb on 1gig Corsair PC3200 DDR (2 factory-matched sticks) on a Neo2 Fis2r 865PE mobo using a 9700 pro with XP Pro and a WD 200gig SATA HD:

Game Test Score 1992

CPU score 3148

GT1-8.2fps
GT2-5.6fps
GT3-10.9fps

CPU test1-1.6fps
CPU test2-2.8fps

Admittedly, this is on Catalyst 4.8, but I understand 4.9 has some bugs in it, and I didn't feel like installing beta drivers....

I'm in the same boat as you Fonebone.

I've got:

ABIT IC7 MAX3
P4 3.0 C @ 3.4 GHz
1 GB PC4000 RAM in dual channel
Sapphire 9800 Pro
Audigy 2 ZS
160 GB

My CPU benches in SiSoft between a P4 3.8 GHz-4.0 GHz LGA at stock.
It benches around a 3800+ AMD 64.

Yet on this bench I get a lower score than XP 2000+....

My weakness is my 9800 Pro. But how am I benching lower than someone with a 9800 SE?

This program has some bugs or something. I could see Sapphire screwing up my video card, but my CPU benching this low? It doesn't make sense at all.

Athlong 64 3000+
GeForce 6800 GT

I ran the test with a bunch of crap running in the background but looking at some of the other scores, I guess that's pretty respectable anyway. ABC (Another Bittorrent Client), GetRight, Norton AV 2003, Maxthon (my web browser), were all running when I started the demo so I'm hoping my score will get a little boost when I do a proper benchmark tomorrow

3975

Asus P4c800-E Deluxe Mainboard (1000 bus)
P4 2.8 @ 3.2 Ghz
GeForce 6800 GT (Core: 350 Mem: 1Ghz) -- [Forceware 65.73]
1 gig (2x512) 400Mhz Ram (CAS 2.5, Precharge 3, Ras to Cas 3, Delay 5, Burst 4)
Creative Labs Soundblaster Audigy 2
SATA 10,00 RPM Maxtor Raptor Hard Drive

839

P4 2.53Ghz, 512MB Ram, 9700 Pro.

I'll have to update my drivers/check I didn't have AA turned on etc. Crawled along at 1-5 fps, but as others said, it looked gorgeous :)

4190

Athlon 64 3000
1gig ram
6800 Ultra

I haven't updated my drivers since my card came out so apparently Nvidia's behind on the 3dmark 'optimizations' looking at the x800 scores ;)

Oh but wait! I forget ATI never cheats!

It must be hard for NV users to wake up into reality and realize their cards are only faster in Doom III...

Bah, I gotta go with Vark on this one. I'm an ATI guy and it's quite clear that ATI is following nVidia's lead on the whole "optimization" issue. I think it sucks that cheating is now more or less expected when it comes to benchmarking. :-\

232 Marks.

Two-hundred freaking thirty two.

AMD 2400+
512MB RAM
GeForce FX 5200

Heh, you think that's bad? My computer is apparently so out of date that the program won't even RUN.

And here I was expecting to just get a really bad score, instead the benchmarking program just washes its hands of me.

Should this be right? 1151 3dmarks

AMD Athlon(tm) XP 3200+
NVIDIA GeForce FX 5900XT OC
1 GB Dual Channel
ASUS A7N8X-E

The only that looks weird to me is
Untitled-1.jpg

Its a AGP card and in my AGP slot why does it show up in PCI slot 3. :\

Thanks for the comfort, it helps.

I ran it once right after installing and got a game score of 2405. I forgot the CPU score, but it was higher. I assume updating my driver will net a higher score. Anyways, looks like it falls right in line with systems of similar build.

ASUS A7N8X 2.0
AMD Athlon XP 3200+ (stock speed)
ATI 128MB 9800 Pro (stock speed)
2 x 512MB PC3200 in dual-channel (stock speed)

Catalyst 4.8
WinXP SP1

Actually, I was wrong. It's not even that I can't get it to run, the thing won't even install. As soon as I try to run the executable, it tells me that my CPU doesn't have some instruction set (it's also 500mhz below the minimum requirements, no less) that 3dMark needs to run.

"It must be hard for NV users to wake up into reality and realize their cards are only faster in Doom III..."

Look, I was pointing out that everyone's favorite underdog and rah rah canadians aren't exactly the pinnacle of morality everyone claims them to be whenever Nvidia is caught 'cheating'. Both companies do it. Its pretty par for the freaking course these days, which is why benchmarks are useless.

3dMark scores are meaningless fun. A new version comes out, you see how your computer runs (or doesn't) and then you wait a year or so before games using similar features that are grossly more optimized and realistic come out.

Now, just because I own an Nvidia card doesn't mean I have their logo emblazioned on my freaking chest. I don't run around the mall with wearing an Nvidia shirt pointing at people going "OMFGLOLZ ATI Is Teh sUck!!1!!!"

The 6800u was the faster card on the market when it came out. I had a bunch of cash to blow so I bought it, period. Had the new ATI cards been out and I knew their drivers were stable enough for a dev environment, I would have gone that way. Had the 6800GT's been in stock, I would have gotten one of those.

It's a freaking videocard, in 6 months it'll be outdated, and ATI and NVIDIA will be at it again. The god damned fanboys will whip out their Pom-Pom's again and jerk off over whatever shrine they've flip flopped to at the time.

Stow the wounded fanboy bullshit for like 10 minutes. There's enough of it on the internet already.

689 or something along those lines

Dell Inspiron 8600 Laptop
1.7ghz Centrino M
128mb ATI Radeon 9600 Mobile Pro Turbo
768mb RAM

Does that look right to you guys? I only did the test for fun...

LOL I'm just messing with you guys (Slo and Vark). (Maybe,

)Lighten up. Plus the I thought up the "loathe with N-V" thingie and just felt proud of myself! Now to go collect my cookie. Before that though...

If you want to some piece of mind on your E-COCK being full sized and not some angle camera work trickery. (Hee hee) Use the Futuremark approved drivers.

On the Nvidia front, use the 65.51 Forceware beta drivers.

On the ATI front, use the Beta Catalyst 8.07 drivers. (WHQL certified I hear.)

This should add some solid inches to your E-COCK as far as being fooled by "cheating drivers" go.

Ok, so it seems the video card can cap your CPU score.

I ran the test with my P4 at 2.8 GHz and 3.5 GHz and it made absolutely no difference. In both cases I get exactly 1.0 fps on the cpu tests.

Here are all my benches from various programs (at 3.5 GHz OC, stock for video):

3Dmark 2001 SE -- 17094
3Dmark 2003 -- 5619

Sandra:
CPU Arithmetic Benchmark
Dhrystone ALU 10761 MIPS
Whetstone FPU 4404 MFLOPS
Whetstone iSSE2 7755 MFLOPS

CPU Multimedia benchmark
Integer x8 iSSE2 27049 it/s
Float x4 iSSE2 38615 it/s

Memory Bandwidth Benchmark
RAM Bandwidth Int Buff'd iSSE2 5566 MB/s
RAM Bandwidth Float Buff'd iSSE2 5561 MB/s

And 3Dmark05 gives me this bullshit:

Video Score: ~1500
CPU Score ~1400

Either the program's buggy or my Sapphire 9800 Pro no likey Direct X 9.0c.

Yeah, I'm bitching a lot, but you would too if you spent hours researching and building a system, spending $1200, and then have some guy with a 2 year old computer double your score. :P

No no no. The Sapphire 9800 PRO is SM2.0 which is what you need. 9.0C is just support for SM3.0 and other quirks for the latest videocards. If your card couldn't do SM2.0, then 3DMark05 will simply not run.

Now check the box or the manual for the specs of your card. It could be that you have the one with the 128 bit bus. The 128bit bus severely cripples the card. If you do, call sapphire, tell them you were fooled blah blah blah. And they should offer you a 9800 Pro with the 256 bit bus for a difference of 25 USD.

I'm pretty sure I don't have 9800 Pro Atlantis.

I bought it at newegg.com, and there was like 100+ reviews, average 5/5 rating. The Atlantis one was hit with several bad reviews warning of the 128-bit bus.

It seems to be gone from newegg, so I can't list it.

Is there some utility I could use to check the memory bus? I got the card OEM, and the manual is gone.
