Not sure if it's the jpg compression or resizing, but I believe I have a giantass PSD of that somewhere--print quality.

Dropped resolution down from 1600x1200. For all the guys who haven't jumped into this decade!! :D :D

Ok, that program that you have on your desktop that tells you the date as well as things to do and the weather is cool as hell.. What program is that? Also, that isnt Windows XP is it? What is it then? Sorry for the OS ignorance.

Thanks

not sure if the weather app is the same as the calendar, but the calendar is possibly rainlender. rainlender is very good and a few people are using it by the looks of this thread. I use rainlender and the firefox plugin for weather.

Yeah catfish was pretty much spot on. The calendar/to do list is Rainlendar. The weather part is a widget in Konfabulator. As for the OS it is WinXP, I'm just using a variation of the Windows Vista (longhorn) theme and have it in a different colour. The green tinge on the Start happens when you highlight the start button, it's usually a few shades of grey. It also modifies the windows layout a bit, and a few other changes. It's rather nice.

where can I get some decent themes for xp? when I google them I always get options to make my desktop look like the spice girls movie and shit, I just want to change the colour and style of the start menu and task bar mainly.

Rorschach, source of that wallpaper? I must have it.

Zap, I ztole your desktop for my own use. Thanks. I should download one of those programs that randomly selects a desktop for you on start up, I could probably get a rotation of ten pretty easily. So many nice desktops out there.

I got mine from deviantART. Just search through their shell themes and dl ones that apply to the theme program or uxtheme.dll (hacked one for winxp to use themexp shells) you use.

oh I see I need a program to apply the themes.... any decent free ones?

I used this one. Free, and it does the job automatically. Supposedly some people have issues with it not actually applying the file, but you'll know if it works after a reboot.

Yeah I linked to the uxtheme.dll file above, you can download that and it'll give you the same functionality as the ThemeXP program for free. All you need to do is right click on the desktop and go display properties. Then choose and apply the themes you download.

There's also a self running executable there that you can use to install if you don't want to just apply the .dll file yourself, kinda makes things go a little smoother.

The calender thing? or the taskbar theme? Calendar is rainlendar, and the taskbar is using a modified uxtheme.dll + a skin I got off deviantart.

edit - Hm maybe you mean the wallpaper, that's just an image. Would be cool if it was animated though.

Thank you! I downloaded Rainlendar and it is awesome.

Here's my current wallpaper (desktop is nothing special). I just picked up my friend and we were gonna go out, and we saw these guys just walking around in broad daylight, one in his pyjamas, the other in his boxers. Totally normal day, so it sorta struck us as odd (and hilarious!). They weren't crazy or anything, just regular people in a regular neighbourhood...

Just switched my desktop to that wallpaper. I rotate that one in pretty often; probably the favorite of my collection, because the colors are nice, the photo is nice, the mood is good, the picture is intresting and full of details and the girl is pretty cute.
Thanks, I just stole it. In return I'll give you the pure version of what I'm using now. For a long time I'd been using stuff from my storehouse of great minimalist wallpapers, but I decided to start looking around on personal photo and digicam sites for nice wallpaper material, things that are beautiful but not too busy--like yours and this:

I'm going to eventually put this image on a shirt so I can wear it at work. Then all the ladies will be like "Cool shirt" and I'll be like "Thanks I drew it" and then we'll go fuck in the walk-in freezer.

BTW that's a caricature of myself. :D

recently came across collections with about 200 Itoh Misaki pics. so i'll probably be rotating a few, but this one stuck out in my head a bit...

thanx for the inspiration mr. T-V ;)

original res was 1680x1050

Sweet! I love being inspiring!! :D :D

That's some pretty wicked similarity there, the wallpaper even resembles mine with white/greyscale colouring and only the blue eyes. Good Job!

On a side note, where did you get that wallpaper, I love it's effectiveness in it's simplicity.
