Standing in line at Lamestop. Seriously a billion people in line here. MS is making some bank on this one. Will post the comically long line pics when im home and done freezing my ass off. See you guys online.
I don't understand why these plebes wait in line for video games. Even if it's a midnight launch, why not show up at midnight (or 12:30-1:00 AM if you know your store has lines) and get it then? It's like these people are volunteering to waste their time. My logical, awesome brain can't handle that.

Well, I know a lot of people go early because they want to talk to people and possibly make new friends.
Some stores don't allow people in after a period of time.
For example, my friend's pissed off that after leaving work at 11PM, he went to the midnight launch just to be told that they stopped allowing people inside at 10:30PM. Stores won't be open tomorrow becuase of the elections, so he has to wait until Wednesday.

Wait, what? Stores are closed tomorrow?

Around here, (Puerto Rico) the Gamestop won't at least. Forgot to add that part.Wait, what? Stores are closed tomorrow?
Meet people, score some free swag, maybe play some pre-launch games/trivia, earn a prize.
I can't stand going to midnight releases, but I get why some people find it appealing.
That sucks man. How many people do you anticipate was in that massive line?
There's easily 100 plus at my local little gamestop. Shit is cray.
Must have been 5,000-10,000 people that got the game there today. That massive line was there from 4 to 8.
I understand people going to midnight launches. I did that when I didn't have a wife and child. I'd never do it now. What I don't understand are Apple fans who choose to not pre-order for free release-day delivery so that they can spend hours on release day waiting in line with fellow Apple fans...for the experience.
It is weird. I am probably one of the senior citizens here at 45 and a gamer all my life, but I can't understand why so many people wait for a new phone that comes out yearly. For me, the last midnight launch I attended was for Reach, but it was a lot of fun. Friends from work, family and others all together shooting the shit and having a good time. But that is for a whole new experience with a new game, but those people that wait every single year for the small yearly upgrade to a phone is beyond me.
For tonight, I am just going at 1230 am or so to get my stuff. I don't anticipate another midnight launch until the next Xbox comes out for me.
Just showed up to my local gamestop we usually have pretty tame midnight launches. This shit is like another realm from hell opened. Feels like Black Friday. Fuck MS is banking tonight.
MS is going to make back all the investment into 343 and the game just from midnight sales alone. Then there is the rest of the year and yeah, they are going to make hands over fists on this thing.
It is funny, but Halo is son engraned in society now. As I stated earlier, I work at a major retailer and I was putting up some window clings for Halo 4 and all the kids and parents saying "look it is Halo 4". Pretty damn funny.
BTW...have you guys seen that Mega Blocks Infinity Ship that sells for like $300.00??? It is pretty bad ass.
It's crazy gaming is so mainstream now but in my head its still my niche hobby. I still get surprised if I hear a 10 year old say they like mine craft. I can't adjust.
I was surprised at how huge Minecraft 360 became over the summer. Every single one of my daughter's friends that didn't own a 360 got one just for that game. They're all still incredibly addicted to it. Splitscreen Minecraft apparently is crack to a child.
November is going to be absolutely huge for the industry; however most of that money is probably going to H4, BO2 and WiiU.
I babysit for a living, and 9/10 ten year olds are obsessed with Minecraft. Empirical statistic. It's crazy gaming is so mainstream now but in my head its still my niche hobby. I still get surprised if I hear a 10 year old say they like mine craft. I can't adjust.

As a 20 year vet. of a major national retailer, your are 100% with the exception of listing the Wii U. H4, BO2, 360 Consoles, Skylanders Giants will be the major things this holiday. Wii U will be in limited supplies and there is not a lot of interest this close to launch. I never seen such a thing for a new home console in a very long time.
The H4 Console will out sell the Wii U. You heard it here first folks.
Do they get it for free?
Most likely. Atleast all employees in the gaming division get MS published games for free.
Shout out to Best Buy for giving me all of this shit:

Now it's time to make myself late for work in seven hours.
Fucking Best Buy. I wanted all that shit, but no Midnight here.

I'd guess there were about 20 or so people inside playing in a Halo tournament, with a handful more arriving before I left. Plus there's still another hour to go before midnight.
