Post Your Top 3 Systems Of All Time!

John Harker

Definitely doesn't make things up as he goes along.
This could get really interesting.

1. SNES
2. Playstation
3. GameCube

(I've owned/own Atari, NES, SNES, GameGear, Game Boy Advance, Nintendo DS, Playstation, Nintendo 64, Dreamcast, Playstation 2, GameCube, Xbox)

1. SNES
2. PS2 (including PS1 compatibility)
3. NES
honorary mentions: Dreamcast, Genesis

Own: NES, SNES, N64, GC, GBC, GBA_SP, DS, Genesis, GameGear, Saturn, Dreamcast, PS1, PS2, PSP, Xbox, Turbo Duo

1. Playstation 2 (Because it plays PSX games as well, the combined library has so many excellent titles)

2. Xbox (Because it can be modded, so NES, SNES, Master System, Genesis, PC Engine, Neo-Geo and more are all covered. :D )

3. Gameboy Advance (Same as PS2: backwards-compatitle and huge library of games)

If you don't want to count backwards compatibility and modded systems, then for me it's:

1. NES
2. Genesis
3. Neo-Geo

Shouldn't your 3rd favorite be the DS then by that logic? :D

Not including PC:

1. PlayStation 2
2. PlayStation
3. GBA

The systems with the most nostalgia for me are the SNES and the Dreamcast, though, it's just that the majority of their libraries are now available for the current systems and the GBA, respectively.

1) GameCube
2) Turbo Grafx 16/DUO
3) N64

2. Xbox (Because it can be modded, so NES, SNES, Master System, Genesis, PC Engine, Neo-Geo and more are all covered. )

In that case, the PC. Arcade, neo-geo, psx, n64...pretty much any console that has ever come out will one day be emulated on the PC. :P

Game over. Go home, people.

SNES.
N64.
Dreamcast.

The SNES had the most perfectly balanced lineup ever. Every kind of game in every genre was well-represented on the SNES, and 7 times out of 10 either the best versions of a particular game or the best game(s) in a particular genre were on the SNES. It had a top-notch controller, face-melting graphics (for 1991-1995) and well...it was just fucking awesome.

N64 was a unique machine. It could provide some of the greatest single-player experiences in video gaming (see: Mario 64, Zelda, et al), but it excelled at being the unchallengeable king of multiplayer. From 1996 to 2000, a Nintendo 64 could create a party all by itself if a copy of Goldeneye, Smash Bros, Mario Kart, PD or some shit was nearby. If it hadn't been hamstrung by its storage media, it might've been a better system than even the SNES. :o

The Dreamcast is Sega's magnum opus; FUCK the Genesis. The DC looked slick, played slick, and had graphics so good, they rendered the competition's hilariously irrelevant on sight. I couldn't go back to playing sports sims on N64 or PS1 after the glorious rebirth of Sega Sports on DC. No way was I gonna tolerate a dropped frame in a 2D fighter when I could play a nigh-perfect version of SF3 on DC. Sega's beliefs on game and console design was most effective here. The DC, better than anything else, brought the arcade home.

Dreamcast - SO many great games - such a good display!
Playstation - Ridge Racer Revolution and Tekken 2 mmmmmmmmmm
Xbox - Spiritual successor to Dreamcast

Least favorite: N64 - thank god for Mario 64 (Gameboy Advance saved by Tony Hawk 3 which got me through a 6 month stint at a call center).
