I know when I watch presentations my eyes glaze over when the inevitable indieshit with the soft music comes on.

He thinks enthusiast gamers are obligated to care about Tim Schaefer games.like 18,000 games come out a year bro.

Let's say that there are 10 million ultimate subscribers. More than 3 million of them would have to cancel before MS is making less money than they are currently. Seems unlikely.I'm under the impression that a large quantity of individuals will be canceling their gamepass with a $10/mo increase
ii was at the x box summer show
That's fair, to be honest I am far more out of touch with gaming than I used to be.This makes me want to pour one out for Neogaf. The gaming forum.
Is that what you took from my post?I'm getting sick of all the PlayStation worship and the crying when a damn game isn't on that platform, like the entire world is crumbling. Here's an idea: stop being an "only PlayStation" gamer and whole new worlds will open up to you guys.
I think probably 99% of people on this forum have 2+ platforms.I'm getting sick of all the PlayStation worship and the crying when a damn game isn't on that platform, like the entire world is crumbling. You're wrong. Microsoft literally closed them alongside the entire ZeniMax Asia branch, it wasn't until much later that Krafton acquired the offices, the Tango Gameworks trademark and the Hi-FI Rush IP, with also doing the effort of hiring close to 50% of the studio's staff that was left unemployed (as the rest of the people have already gotten jobs everywhere else). Basically rebuilding the entire thing. Also, shut them down? No they sold it to Krafton. They went after double fine precisely, not attached to a huge bag of devs with a publishing house. You also conveniently don't mention ghost wire Tokyo. How much that cost? Mikami retiring, what's worth remaining in the studio? I can guarantee you that Hi-Fi rush and Ghostwire Tokyo probably costed more to make than the entire worth of the Double fine buyout. Hi-Fi rush production for animations and music is anything but « indie » in costs.
Define bombOfcourse its gonna bomb. Who tf thought playing as a lighthouse would be fun or interesting?

Also, do you seriously think that anyone who isn't very known like Shinji Mikami (who wasn't even involved in Hi-Fi Rush, btw) isn't talented enough to be determined to keep their jobs? What's with that way of thinking?
It had a quick trailer at the showcase and nothing more. It was very easy to miss and looked fairly unremarkable. This makes me want to pour one out for Neogaf. The gaming forum.
The industry isn't about art anymore, at least the way we knew it, we've got High on Life and it serve it's purpose from Xbox perspective. The free market has spoken.Hard to feel sorry for devs who put out art-house niche products that don't sell. Microsoft surely has to be getting tired of propping these kind of studios/games up.
Too late, I'm already drunk, Instead of pouring it out, I drank the entire bottle. It had a quick trailer at the showcase and nothing more. It was very easy to miss and looked fairly unremarkable.
You had a negative sounding title, now the negativity bled into the thread.Too late, I'm already drunk, Instead of pouring it out, I drank the entire bottle.
This physically hurts me seeing the apathy and negative comments here.
Yep. Saw someone else complaining about a game not being on ps yesterday, and they were also crying doom and gloom about it. That's why I said something. Is that what you took from my post?
I don't have faith in the title, It has no dialog, meaning Tim Shaffer didn't write anything for this game. You had a negative sounding title, now the negativity bled into the thread.
Have faith in the title you are looking forward to. Instead if this fails it will be partially your fault.
May I suggest looking into drugs that are less of a depressant than alcohol?
Just out of curiosity: If Xbox and PC players aren't gonna buy this, then why does it matter whether it is also released on Playstation as well? Playstation players also aren't gonna buy it, then.Keeper is going to bomb
No PlayStation at launch, increase in gamepass cost announced, no marketing
Xbox/PC players aren't gonna buy this. It was always doomed to be a "I'll give it a try on Gamepass" type of game. But Microsoft is ensuring it fails.
No reason to keep them around.
Cue the Double Fine being shut down and Tim Schaefer starting a new studio
I don't have faith in the title, It has no dialog, meaning Tim Shaffer didn't write anything for this game.
It doesn't have much going for it. It's got weird atmosphere so there's that.
Not launching on all platforms and yes, it's going to bomb.
I doubt microsoft cares about good PR when they just hiked up the price of gamepass and have destroyed any good PR they could ever have. Double Fine are in trouble unless the game hits big on gamepass and I can't see that happening. They can't spend years and years on a niche game and get little return on their investment.
Bingo. Dude has never made a good/relevant game.It was going to bomb regardless. No one knows that game exists, or care about Double Fine.
Name me one game that has "hit big" on game pass.I doubt microsoft cares about good PR when they just hiked up the price of gamepass and have destroyed any good PR they could ever have. we are talking about MS... i would not be surprise they are thinking THAT :-DYes... Microsoft bought indie dev surviving on kickstarter campaigns only to expect them to have the next Halo or close the studio
You got it.
Ok, sure, could be the case. The rest of your post is still wrong. It was still part of the whole Bethesda package so we have no idea if they are wanted Tango game works, like, ever? Clearly they didn't.
I would bet absolutely everything on Kojima training new blood on KJP to lead the studio for the next generation. Again, attributing the entirety of a studio's worth on one single person is stupid, especially in this specific instance where Tango Gameworks had already proved what they could do without Mikami at the helm with Hi-Fi Rush.Shinji Mikami is of course a big piece. That's like Kojima studio without Kojima.

Correct.They were never good.
So you just ignored the rest of what I said. But beyond that, the whole reason Xbox started going multi platform is because games were dying in their closed ecosystem. So I mean literally plays a part. Even Microsoft says soYep. Saw someone else complaining about a game not being on ps yesterday, and they were also crying doom and gloom about it. If it bombs its not because its not on Playstation.......but dont tell OP that.....he needs that as one of his points.
Microsoft is simply sending this game out to die.
They did a deep dive for the game, but it wasnt market well either so im sure alot of people didnt even watch it.
It looks like a cute little game, I dont expecting to sell gangbuster, not even close, but it also doesnt look particularly expensive or large.
In the days of Xbox Live Arcade, I could totally see this as being a game released on Xbox Live Arcade only
Well that was only one talking point. But there are like 123 million PlayStation users. So even if it doesn't sell great, it's a lot easier to make a profit when selling to a larger install baseJust out of curiosity: If Xbox and PC players aren't gonna buy this, then why does it matter whether it is also released on Playstation as well? TBF I have it in my release log and wishlisted - and I had to google it after seeing this thread to remember what's this game even is.This makes me want to pour one out for Neogaf. The gaming forum.
