POWER STONE COLLECTION for PSP

I'm kind of in the camp of calling powerstone 1/2 overated DC fluff. I mean they were okay games, nothing really special though. Project justice on the other hand I'd be interested in. NOTE TO CAPCOM- make the dpad dongle available in stores for 2.99 a pop.

Don't think its actually messed up aspect ratio wise. Its just a rectangular pic instead of the square ones we're used to. The characters or hud isn't stretched if u look at it. Cover the sides of the pic and look at it.
in the gaming age screens, the characters and hud are stretched. youre just blind apparently.

if theyre just screencaps from the gametrailers video, that would explain why they look even more stretched out. in the gt videos the area shown is around 430x272, whoever did the ga pics stretched them out to 480 wide. not that the gt videos even have the correct ratio either, its still stretched there.

does the video have anything new over the dreamcast ones? the 'press start button' seen in a lot of the video is making me think it could just be stretched out dreamcast/naomi footage (although it could be for gamesharing observers or something).

Its hard to believe a game looks this good on a handheld... I'm serious, PSP is a monster. It's just hard for me to comprehend games looking like this or Tekken on a handheld.

Wow, I can't believe it. I loved Powerstone.

The only games I want on PSP are ports. =/

Valkyrie Profile + Power Stone Collection + Gradius Portable + SFA3 ftw.

I just hope Lenneth actually comes to the states, instead of getting blocked like Suikoden.

I refuse to purchase a PSP again until Valkyrie Profile Lenneth comes here. Suikoden not coming here pisses me off to no end.

Powerstone 1 = woohoo

powerstone 2 = meh.

I wonder if I still have my geeky powerstone anime cel lying around somewhere?

While we are in the thread of strangely accurate targetting ports, can I put in a word for mashed please?

Wow, PS enjoyed much love on my DC, thank you Capcom! As an ex-DC fanboi, I am one step closer to dying a happy death!

*dies...

It must be the water you drink there or maybe the food or the heat in the summer... :P.

Nothing to be ashamed about loving Powerstone 2 more.

What were the modes in the JP version of Super Puzzle Fighter II' that weren't in the US one, Amir0x?

If I remember correctly, you had to get 4 in a row in the Y version, and Z version had you move 4 blocks at a time in a 2x2 square (kinda like Tetris attack)

Now where's Mars Matrix PSP?

I'm a little suprised to hear most people say they liked the first game better. I loved the item creation(devil's scythe ftw) and moving levels in the second one, more characters too.

Jejeje yep.

BTW pana, I have to tell you the job I am doing right now. It's quite interesting in regards to CELL and ...jejeje J/K. But anyways I have to tell you lots of things !

I loved Power Stone on Dreamcast and I had ever hoped a port to the Cube. I never understood why Capcom was fuzzying this brand. So much good gameplay, simple and fun.

I'm worried but, about how well the game will fit on the blurry PSP screen, moreover by the contrast of colors wich sufered on the original.

also, I'm asking for a DS versión. Why the hate Capcom?

I was confused too. The PSP screen, hell any lcd screen where there is no analog involved is not blurry. LCD screens are as perfectly clear as you can get.

Wow some serious over reactions in this thread....... Power Stone was good, but, not that good. lol

Time for logical deduction!

-> "I think this overreaction was caused by people that agree with this sentiment!"
-> "I think this overreaction was probably caused by people that think the game is, in fact, THAT good!"

I agree. It's a good game, but I never really saw the appeal of handheld fighters. Especially with the PSP's d-pad, though it'll be better for something like Power Stone vs. 2D fare like Street Fighter.

Amirox, answer this question....... Is Power Stone really worth the online orgasms people were having on the first page?

Yes. Power Stone 1 is actually quite an underrated fighter by a lot of people, most people played it like a party game. Turn of the bonus weapons and you have a really balanced reflex-based fighter. There's lots of subtle things like you have a small window to cancel your opponent's supers, catching thrown items, and stuff like that. It's got a completely different sort of depth to move-based fighters, it's depth comes from knowing the right thing to do in the right situation, but between 2 well-matched players you can have some great fights.

Power Stone 2 just threw all that away in favour of being the party game that everyone had assumed the first was. It's not a bad game, and good for a laugh, but much shallower and completely unbalanced compared to the first.

You know, I played the hell out of both of them........... They just aren't as good as some are making them out to be really. lolol It's not worth having a heart attack over. =P

Good post, very true.

As far as fun goes, I think PS2 is far more fun than the first one. I mean, it's just really fricking FUN! No overbalanced supers. 4p mode with multistage stages. Mini-games embedded into the stages themselves. Just FUN!

However, I still went back to PS1 from time to time, because it's the deeper of the two, and it's more competitive.

Leave, just leave.

Power Stone was AWESOME back in the days, I'd like to play it again (everywhere I want!), but it HAS TO got game-share. My buddies are never willing to pay money for this kind of 'crap'. They'd better like to spend some money on FIFA 2007 or Need for Speed 1243565 :'''''''(.

Oh well, I got one of them to buy Exit, so there actually might be a little hope. However game-share would be just fine.

I wasn't a really big fan of this series on the DC, but I do appreciate what Capcom's doing for the little PSP. It's definitely awesome news. I might consider this if it had real Wifi play though.

Although I must say, 3 player Addhock with 1 UMD is fucking amazing.

:lol A DS version would be wrong on so many levels, this is the type game PSP needs.

Now we need Resident Evil Code: Veronica PSP, Capcom vs. SNK 2 PSP, Onimusha PSP & Dino Crisis PSP. Then Capcom has put all their big franchises on the thing. Oh, and Capcom should not forget about new games, which they seem to have here with only 1 new game coming out soon on the PSP.

Power Stone never ever got the respect it deserved. When it was released all I ever heard from fighting game players was that it lacked depth. I found it to have completely reinvented the fighting genre. The depth was not found in the traditional code breaker button combos but in using the enviornment and using the counter dodges to manuever around the other player Matrix style. Hopefully so many years after its release it finds the sort of audience it should have.

It doesn't help that the definitive version was on Dreamcast. I love DC, and have both Power Stones, but let's face it: it just didn't give Power Stone the exposure it needed.

Great news, I'm foolishly hoping that this game sells very well so we can see a PS3/360 update.

Online play on PS1?
