Usually before an official price cut is announced for America and most English speaking countries, usually other markets receive price cuts first shortly beforehand and I'm noticing that many sites have been discounting the Xbox Series S to $269.99. Some of these were updated within the last 3 days;

In America, an authorized Microsoft dealer is selling the Xbox Series S online for $260. This was reported by Gamespot and techradar today;

Then finally, just today Microsoft has made the Xbox Series S $269,99 on the official Frenchy Microsoft website. This was updated sometime earlier this morning;

This makes it easy to predict that an official price drop announcement for the Xbox Series S to $269,99 will be announced shortly, and what better way for the new price to gain exposure than during gamescom, and event that is currently on going.
Assuming this is the case, I expect Series S sales to take off as it gets closer to that mass adoption price of $199. Changing the price to $269.99 would also make the Series S $30 cheaper than the Nintendo Switch, giving Switch gamers an option to upgrade to next gen for the first time at a discount, and with a gamepass sub, access to hundreds of games for free. If this announcement happens It'll cause Series S sales to soar, at least until the end of the year.
$270 is approaching impulse buy territory, if you don't care about physical games and prefer digital. I expect that any price cuts related to Xbox Series or PS5 will only be for the Series S, and I believe Microsoft knew this would be the case. I don't expect the PS5, Series X, or even the Switch, to drop their prices this year, making the Series S the cheapest console available.
But this prediction could be wrong and they may not announce any price cuts, but given the proof above, and the history of that always leading to an official discount announcement, Imo I believe Microsoft will announce a $269,99 price cut. What do you think? Do you agree the $269,99 announcement for Series S is coming?
