So tomorrow the game officially release for those who bought the more expensive version of the game, and I'm sitting here just remembering the disastrous launch of Diablo 3 and how the game was pretty much unplayable for days due to the servers getting ass fucked left and right, considering the mega hype for D4 rn, you think blizzard is prepared for this or not

The most recent beta was surprisingly smooth. But, as always, expect the worst and be pleasantly surprised. I voted for "Disastrous".

Luckily I'm on nightshift armed with the gaming laptop so i'll be getting paid to be stuck in a que all night.

Don't think shit will hit the fan, but servers will be overloaded, long queues to enter the game, rubberbanding will be pretty frequent, people getting kicked out of the game. I think these are realistic expectations from any always online games and a franchise as popular as Diablo is bound to attract a lot of traffic. I'm happy to be proven wrong though.

Smooth, it's been a long time since I've seen Blizzard have a bad launch. I expect, at the worst, for it to be like the first beta weekend where queues were a thing and occasionally you'd get kicked off, but that was fixed relatively quickly.

Less than 5 minute wait times....but there will be network desync (rubber banding as the kids call it) and zone desync (cannot leave a zone/get stuck at the exit of a zone).

This will smooth out over time once the servers can report player engagement and they can deploy additional server support to the areas that need it.

Overall I think it will a VERY great weekend.

Agree with this.

If shit is going to hit the fan, it'll be at the real release, not tomorrow imo, because $$$ will gate off much of the launch crowd (we don't actually have any pre-order sales data showing the % splits do we?). But watch me be totally wrong.

They have done multiple stress tests and have numbers about how many have pre-purchased for early access and standard and a general idea of what demand will look like. They should have a pretty good shot at avoiding any disasters. I vote middle of the road. I'm sure they will try to get away with as few servers as possible but should be bringing additional capacity online within a reasonable amount of time.

Not smooth, but much better than Diablo 3.

Probably like original Destiny at launch in 2014. Not amazing, but not catastrophic

All three beta weekends have been fairly smooth. First day of the pre-order weekend had some queues but I think that was somewhat intentional to gauge load. Blizzard has been pretty good about launching games in the last decade or so, the last WoW expansion that had major issues at launch was Warlords of Draenor IIRC.

the early access alleviates the demand but also hedges if things go wrong to limiting the damage to only premium players and they probably have some special cosmetic and diablo bucks already made as a failsafe if things go poorly to compensate people who bought early access.

but during the beta there were some issues with rubber banding and long queues so it probably won't be flawless but should be playable.

There really isn't any excuse for it be anything but buttery smooth as we've had a few betas, one of which was specifically to try and break the severs. Hoping for the best, expecting it to be very rocky!

I logged in a couple of times last night and the longest queue time was 3 min. Best multiplayer launch in a long while.

Other than the PS5 licensing issue for the first hour I had no issues all night. Just a few instances of rubber banding that were barely noticeable

PC here. 2 minute login queue, slight rubber banding at times. Super smooth so far. Let's see if that stays true over the weekend, and especially next Tuesday.

EU here, last nights launch and all of today has basically been perfect. No issues with disconnecting. One or two latency issues but that's to be expected and they lasted just a second. level 27 already, great game.

Popped in this morning to play for about an hour.. zero issues.
I am sad you can't play offline though.. gonna have to use my hotspot when I play my steamdeck on the go.
