Preorder Quantum Break for Xbox One, Get Windows 10 version for free - also HW specs

How do you know this? Xbox One titles as a whole relatively deep under 30 fps using unusual or adaptive resolutions... that's not something I would call solid in terms of performance.

The only inconvenience of the pc version is the damn app format in which Windows 10 treats its games. It was horrible for Fable Legends, and this is why I was glad to see a Steam version of Tomb Raider, Xbox achievements be damned.

And don't get me wrong, I'm not hating on them giving both versions for the price of one (that is if you pre-order). It's a good thing.

Well the videos did not show significant performance issues so far.

So the PC version is just a code and not tied to the Live account that bought the game? Might try to go halfsies with a friend who has a PC.

I'd be surprised if the codes aren't account-bound. Then again, GFWL launched with the mother of all oversights (any GFWL game would consider any GFWL key valid and there was no product registration), so, upon reflection, just a little surprised.

Nope, but I will wait for a DF analysis in order to see if the Xbox One is the version to go in terms of solid performance ;)

I would count on Remedy here. Remember they introduced a vsync switch on console with AWAN, they know their optimization.

Yup, I would not count on an "extra copy".

Could I play it, at least in minimum, with a gtx 960 4Gb and 16GB RAM?

Nobody knows the settings and "real requirements" yet, but if I would have to look into the magic crystal ball - I would say your chances are pretty good that you can run the game and make it look good too.

Hope you're right and it would be good for people planning to play it on console. I know Alan Wake had relatively good performance on 360.

My SLI Titan X build with a 5960X feels caught off-guard.
... And so early in 2016 at that.

DX12 is a pleasant addition that hopefully justifies the numerous delays for this release.

Can't mod it afaik
Can't use on screen displays (memory hooks)
Can't use sweetfx
Patches are slower to release than steam
Vsync always on as it's an App
If i'm understanding right you also have to add there no piracy, which seen the PC situation with also 3DM claiming to have cracked latest Denuvo it's a good thing, and Microsoft need to do that to not have game sales reduced by piracy...
Also can't use sweetfx? I want to play the game as it was designed originally not with alterate colors and light, especially in a game like Quantum Break...some on screen display actually work....are patch really slower to release? The only example right now is Tomb Raider, so even if that is true they can always fix that and it's not like the patchs don't arrive at all... so i don't see really huge problems or limitation, especially compared to the pros like no piracy and better sales for Remedy and Microsoft which means more likely new games like this, and also Achievements and save state across Xbox One and PC

Guys if you are worried about being able to play the game look at the minimum specs not recommended. Minimum is likely for an x1 equivalent experience. With the game then scaling up massivley in quality to require the recommended specs.

Also do we know if this will be on steam yet? Win10 exclusive should just refer to it being a dx12 game.

That's great for you I guess. I'm sure many PC gamers will detest the closed nature of apps. As for piracy, let's not go there.

And vsync issue could be a big issue for many.

I know right, with that pitiful build of yours, the game is really going to struggle...

Not worried at all, i Know they always like to shoot high, those recommended could be for 60fps and perhaps higher resolution than 1080p,i'm confident that my Gtx 980 4GB, i7 4770k and 8GB of ram will handle it maxed out at 1080p, or at least way better than Xbox One could run it

You mean triple buffer vsync by virtue of it being windowed? It's still possible for an app to have traditional double buffer vsync be its own user setting.

I won't be buying it if it's Windows Store only. They royally fucked up RotTR with that. Plus I'm not buying into any more of MS' platforms for gaming.
Put it on Steam or leave it free from any governing app and I'll consider it.

Where does it say, Ultra is for 4K?

I'm a bit over the new recommended specs. Going with this I think I should be able to reach high(ish) settings @ 1080p and 55-60 fps, and that would be okay. I own a 'good' gaming PC (i5, 980, 16gb of ram everything descently overclocked) and I never expect to 'max' out a game.

Still I really wonder about the minimum specs. They seem a bit high to run the game on xbox like settings. Are we sure QB is going to be a 1080p xbox one game?

is it 100% confirmed??? That would be a downer , especially after the news with the final blow to GfWL accounts
AFAIK, yes. There's been no mention of Steam anywhere in press/articles.
As far as MS is concerned, they don't need Steam since they have their own distribution platform (Windows Store).
Frustratingly short-sighed, IMHO, since Steam's reach and userbase would eclipse Windows Store revenue by orders of magnitude.
Same goes for Origin/Uplay/etc. -only titles, but hey... ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Every recently published by Microsoft is also Steam.

All of Ubi's Uplay games are (or were, in the case of games that Ubi can no longer distribute due to licence expirations) available on Steam with the bizarre exception of Tintin. Indeed, Ubi has actually improved how Uplay integrates with Steam over the years.

Which makes me thinking. Everywhere on the QB and Remedy page they are talking about a "Windows 10 Version" and not a "PC Version". So it could be the W10 version of the game is exclusive to the MS Store while all other versions will end up on Steam?!

Thanks for the correction.
All of Ubi's games I have on PC are on Uplay (because I got them via 3rd party resellers who were only selling Uplay keys).
So Ubi's paying Steam the usual 30% cut, but the whole game actually runs on Uplay in the background? How does that even work? O_o #UplayNoob

that feel when you're no longer above the recommended specs

I cant tell if I'm over the minimum or not.

Code:
OS: Win10 x64 (check!)
DX12: I think not. (660 Ti)
CPU: i7 930 @ 3.4Ghz (check or no check?)
GPU: 660 Ti (check or no check?)
VRAM: 2Gb (check!)
RAM: 12GB (check!)

Do not look at the names, look at their relative performance. Yes, you are over the minimum.

Essentially, the game's executable invokes the Uplay client, which runs in a special "Steam mode" that's the same thing as the "full" client but with the store disabled. When you run a Uplay game from Steam, you first have to register the game key, but after that it launches silently.

Windows 10 is the only OS in Microsoft's strategy right now. Why would they release for legacy OS?

Who can I beg to include a properly framepaced 30fps lock in the game? Since we most likely won't be able to use RTSS.

Is the 660Ti DX12 compatible though?

Yes. Fermi and above are all DX12 base compatible. Fermi has yet to be updated in the driver though and may be dropped, kepler is fine.
Well no one benchmarks i7 930's or 660 ti anymore so I'm pretty lost when it comes to whats more/less powerful then other things these days.

True, but just deduce some small things like its thread count and the fact that each intel gen has been only 10-15% IPC improvements each time or how relative performance is between products. You are more than fine. My Core i7 930 @ 4.2 Ghz has yet to prevent me from reaching 60fps in any modern game that is not Star Citizen or ARMA 3 (but that is a special game).
