Preorder Quantum Break for Xbox One, Get Windows 10 version for free - also HW specs

This is fantastic, I'm literally crying right now.

Literally?

I'm really happy, too. Max Payne 2 on my top 5 GOAT list.

Holy shit.

Low settings it is! I hope it still looks decent.

Let's commit to this now, folks.

Unless they're just setting the bar high so people don't get their hopes up. Which, frankly, I'd be happy with.

Could be they outsourced it and it's a bad PC port :( Arkham Knight all over again

Only on Windows 10 and its store like Fable Legends? No other OS supported and other stores like Steam?

It a Microsoft IP, what do you expect? They want to push everyone to Windows 10, so of course no other OS. Especially since it works only with DX12. And they want to push their store, so it's a safe assumption it won't be available on Steam. Like other Microsoft IPs, for example Minecraft.

We can rule out the bolded. The port is being made in-house:

Remedy tweeted that MS and Remedy are working on the port. No outsourcing here.

This would be awesome if they would do this to all their first party games. Buy the Xbox One digital version and get the PC version for free. Best cross-buy offer ever.

Nice move MS.

Depending on sales, I'm sure we'll see plenty more of these.

The recommended specs are just ridiculous lol
I hope it's like a Metal Gear Rising situation where specs that don't meet the recommended are able to max the game out just fine.

Also noticed it supports DX12, this should be interesting!

Aaron Greenberg tweeted that recently got this done to make it a day and date launch on both platforms.

@aarongreenberg: We fairly recently were able to make the Win 10 version come day & date with #XboxOne with shared saves & this lets more fans play the game.

I don't like this. Cross-buy should be standard and not a pre-order bonus. What is this?

I mentioned this earlier. It also doesn't work the other way around, where a PC user isn't able to pre-order the game and also get the Xbox digital version, so calling this "cross-buy" isn't accurate at all.

I imagine that the free Windows 10 copy of the game for Xbox One digital pre-orders is only for a limited time because pricing on the console service and on PC will be different after a point. Generally PC games are cheaper, and they will probably have to conform to compete.

My guess is maybe the Universal Windows Store is not yet ready for QB April 5th release so they have to deal with codes and what not.
We'll have to see at the Feb. 25 event on when that launches.

I think he's talking about how the free W10 copy is only offered as a preorder bonus and not as a standard policy (as with ps4/ps3/psvita games).

Obviously you can't pre-order yet on W10, but even on release, if you buy it from the W10 store, you should also get it on the Xbox. It's all it that "vision" they've been preaching in the past couple of years.

I'm in agreement that this is the reason, but I hope this does become a thing in the future.

Weird specs considering this is an XBO game.
Between this and Windows Store only, I'll probably wait a bit
for the Ukraine store.

What does that even mean? People alway complain PC version are downgraded because of console versions. then they finally make it worth and people still complain.

It means they are gonna switch regions on the store and buy the game new for more than half off, because not releasing on steam means no full price purchase for this particular individual.

But hey, at least they are open about their BS.

I think he was referring to the specs part because it was a dumb comment.

Errr, that's what I said.
Once the Universal Store rolls, it should all be based on an account license system, meaning they don't have to give you a code for the Windows 10 version.
That's probably the only reason they are doing it that way now, because XBO is not quite linked up with the Windows 10 Store.

Sure... at 4K..

These are XBO games let's not forget...

I'm sure my 970 GTX @ 1080p will do just fine...

Your 970 GTX won't run Tomb Raider anywhere near a locked 60fps @ 1080p unless you turn some settings down.

Heck, it might drop below 30fps at times with everything cranked.

What does that even mean? People alway complain PC version are downgraded because of console versions. then they finally make it worth and people still complain.

Because if GTX970 can't run it maxed out in at least 1080p with locked 60 it's just lazy and badly optimised port. At least it seems to be how some gamers view PC versions no matter what said versions are bringing to table.

But why the code solution must be used only until the launch date? Can't they provide codes to those who buy the game until the Universal Store is up and running?

I don't see any reason why only those who buy the game until a set date are entitled to the free copy if their vision is to provide cross-buy functionality for every game.

Mixed emotions on this. The crossbuy and the fact that the game is coming to PC is great, but having the locked down Windows Store version of it is not. :( Just thinking to the things people said about RottR, with not being able to inject AA or anything like that.

Windows 10 doesn't bug me, but windows store exclusive is kind of bummer.

Missing some of those great PC options as OSDs, mods, injectors, external fps cap and more important SLI/CFX support is awful. (assuming that this will be like the ROTR version).

As the recommended spec is a 980Ti, SLI would be extremely necessary to those that want to downsample or run at a higher resolution.

Given how DX12 gives exclusive screen controll and everything almost to the dev, the game could conceivably support it.

It will be the first DX12 title beyond Ashes, which is very interesting. That is assuming KI is not DX12 (I hope it is though).

If the PC build turns out to be a gimped Windows Store version as with Tomb Raider, then the likelyhood of my buying it moves swiftly towards zero. It would also be a classic Microsoft move; the kernel of a good idea, implemented terribly.

What does that even mean? People alway complain PC version are downgraded because of console versions. then they finally make it worth and people still complain.

He's probably talking about the Windows Store version of Tomb Raider and the inability to customise the game in any fashion. A lot of these are deal breakers for many people:

- No exclusive fullscreen option (causes problems with tech like multi GPU and variable refresh display technologies G-Sync and FreeSync)
- No way to add the game to Steam (no exe file)
- Can't tweak game files (ini changes or similar)
- No support for overlays (such as performance monitors, frame rate counters)
- No support for injectors (ReShade/SweetFX or similar)
- Can't disable Vsync

It's weird how a week or 2 ago I was having this type of discussion with my brother for how Microsoft could make Windows Store more used vs Steam. My conclusion was Microsoft having "cross-buying" ala what's happening with Quantum Break now. I just hope it doesn't continue creating some problems with modders.

Never said anything about 60fps...

Your response was to 60fps...so yeah, you directly responded to a comment that said 60fps.

You also said "at 4k"....when in reality, your response (which included a 970) is wrong...even at 1080p you couldn't do what the guy you responded to said.
